Hey, hope you doing well. Just wanted to say thank you, I did platinum the game few months ago, now I decided to go back to play it again and I was trying to understand the benefits of unfettered fury and finally I understood. Funny enough I love Tifa, I did all the hard challenges with solo Tifa and I always considered Tifa so broken, she just deletes everything, and now with the understanding of unfettered fury she is even stronger than what I thought. Sadly enough there's only 1/2 enemies in the entire game that have enough hp to make this fun but at least Gilgamesh will cry, thats the only guy i couldnt kill in one stagger before maybe with this tech i can Ps: i saw 2 videos and the one i wanted to comment on was 4 min one but won't bother changing

Tifa is even more broken that I thought...jeez...gotta learn how to maximize stagger bonus for the hard mode run! Good job!

Exactly. Tifa carried me thru all of hardmode where she is playable atleast for me, simply bc of this.

So sad I found out about unfeterred fury so late! A complete game changer in hard mode, unfettered fury all day!

I was literally just thinking about this cause of how fast fury builds atb how it might be better to just do exactly what you did and lo and behold it is ahaha. Thank you for the vid! Doesnt unfettered turn your attacks into mag dmg tho? Or is that just autos? Benefit to this is you always get to sit in fury too which builds atb faster than unbridled so during stagger and outside stagger its just better, plus it does huge stagger damage as well for when outside stagger. Tifa is busted

Unfettered doesn't turn your attacks into mag; if I recall correctly, it adds mag dmg ON TOP of your regular attacks like Elemental materia does.

Well the damage values are roughly the same for all her skills between both tests so it's safe to say the Unfettered doesn't make her skills do magic damage. It's possible that it makes your basic attacks scale off magic instead of strength. I haven't tested it. But I'm not keen to. The benefit of Unfettered in general is stagger buildup and damage is sacrificed for it. If she could have a best of both worlds scenario by having a strong magic stat, I would be opposed to that. Thankfully you really can't have that. Her ATB skills scale off of strength (with maybe Chi Trap being an exception) so she needs strength, not magic to be at her best.

​​@@aethertruck Technically, with ATK MATK materia, you can give her very high magic. From my limited testing, Fury changes Tifa's triangle attack to scale off magic stats. So with ATKMATK, you actually can give her both high stagger and high damage. This is actually the build I'm running right now, while trying to finish Hard mode story play through. I also have enemy skill materia for plasma discharge. And simply cycle Rage and Fall continuously. I also have synergy paired with comet materia on her. So when I'm not controlling her, she can still take advantage of the high magic stat. Edit: Forgot to mention I also gave her ATB assist materia. This setup is not as broken as Yuffie, but it is very close.

​@@SillyCatSteven1234I've considered synergy/comet, but the cast time is soo long. I would absolutely do that if I could get a 2nd copy to pair with swiftcast, or ideally a 3rd with MP absorb to spam Cometeors. But I find the animation lock to only be tolerable on Aerith because radiant ward makes her take 0 damage during the long casts. Even then I prefer to do other things with Aerith because of how inconsistent the DPS of Comet is. Like yeah it's better than level 1 elemental spells but level 3 elemental spells are so much more exponentially powerful than anything synergy can call.

@@aethertruck That's why I normally have Aerith setup with LV 3 elemental spells, while giving someone else synergy/comet, since all wards apply to everyone standing inside the ward. I'd then set up Radiant Ward, then use Aerith's Bodyguard synergy skill to teleport the person with synergy/comet inside the Radiant Ward with Aerith. I'd then cast LV3 elemental spells (or use soul drain if I don't want to waste MP) with Aerith, triggering the synergy/comet. Extra points when synergy/comet is on Yuffie with Doppelganger active while also inside Arcane Ward. This way, the long cast time become a benefit, where Yuffie take ZERO damage while casting comet 4 times!!

The input for the latter is, at lv3 Unfettered Fury, hold attack (uppercut) -> attack in the air for the forced finisher, block and repeat?

Yeah and no. Block is not used. Map true strike to L1 + square. Continue holding square after inputting to immediately cancel true strike into uppercut. Once the uppercut animation begins, release and press square again to initiate the cancel. Rinse and repeat

Does the “utterly unbridled” passive work with unfettered as well?

I'm very near certain that it does. The evidence appears convincing in the results of this video. Watch how much damage true strike does at similar staggerbonus% between unfettered 3 and unbridled 3, and then compared to unfettered 3 and a totally spent unbridled. The first couple true strikes do slightly more in unbridled but well within a 10% range of values. Unbridled clearly does much less at 270% compared to Unfettered 260%, and it becomes very clear that Unfettered is dominating on the next true strike, where chi-less 300% is a 5984 CRIT, and Unfettered 295% breaks 6300 without a crit. Also the damage of the uppercuts are also 10% or so higher in unfettered 3, at the end of both clips. (485, 506 in classic portion, 587 in the fury portion, far outside the 10% expected range of randomness)

Just checking, does the Unfettered rotation work better even against enemies with a shorter stagger downtime?

I usually use the "classic" i thin i do more damage than that probably cuz in using different gloves and the other materia. I can get 360% I'll try the other too, but is too fast too see 😂 After a few views (smart 😂) ia holding square and then a punch (fills up the atb) follow by a true strike. Sounds simple Does share factory has a option to change the format of the vidoe.. I have an idea so the videos don't look washed out

They can both get to 360% with the skill master materia, I just don't have any gear on to make the comparison as simple as possible. However Tifa has a passive damage buff attached to her stance so she drops damage every time she spends a triangle move. And the unbridled combo requires you to spend 2 ATB just to climb back up to level 3 again after stagger is over. There's multiple layers to why the fury cancel is just better once you have access to it but hey, I still use the classic sometimes too. It's more fun to play with all your options. The washed out colors are because of my setup. Pretty sure it's related to recording in HDR. If I ever become a real youtuber I'll consider making changes, but the colors look amazing on my setup. 🫤

@@aethertruck yes i forgot the skill master materia. Sir you know your stuff... I'll try it... The colors for me come out washed out. I don't know why. In every video. I have the TV with HDR. I have this idea to uploaded it from the pc using mirillis or chrome. See how that comes out
