I'm 53 and I used to read my mom's bodice rippers. The Kadin by Bertrice Small was the first one I read at about 12. These types of books remind me of my mom.

Oh my gosh! I LOVED Saving Grace. It's one of my favorites of Julie Garwood's along with The Secret and Ransom (sequel to The Secret).. I loved the fact she was made to marry a Scottish laird. She had been married to an English Lord who abused her. Julie Garwood's use of funny scenes and clever repartee are very enjoyable. I can't believe you didn't like it. I love Amanda Quick's books too.😊

The Silver Devil by Teresa Denys is a crazy old school classic. Unfortunately, I was going to get it but Amazon wants 3000 for paperback. Once More Miranda or Love's Tender Fury, Jennifer Wilde (Tom E. Huff); Bertrice Small, Skye O'Malley; Sweet Savage Love, Rosemary Rogers; Natasha Peters, Savage Surrender; and of course Kathleen Woodiwiss' The Flame and the Flower or a few others of hers. Then there's Laurie McBain, Johanna Lindsey, of course. So many old school authors. These books have survived for a reason. And i guess, seeing all the garbage on Amazon these days, I understand why. Thanks for your great reviews. Your channel is where I go when I need to get a book. I've read a lot of books you've recommended and I haven't been disappointed.

Fun video...yes to a sequel! I'm an Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz fan with 2+ bookshelves devoted to her physical books. Both Reckless and Deception involve pirate-related issues, but no sea time. The Reckless heroine is a publisher of novels, including some written by the hero. The Deception hero has the eye patch and goes undercover as tutor for the heroine's nephews. I also recommend Dangerous with its ghost-hunter heroine.

The used book store i found has a huge historical romance section and all 50 cents! Im obsessed. I got this book by Lavyrne Spencer called Hummingbird. W beautiful cover. Its about a train robbery and she has to care for two shot men. One a sweet man who is considered "good", one is the bad guy robber and guess who she falls in love with haha. I havent read yet.

If it's been a while, give it another read through. O&A was one of my favorite Old School historicals that I read dozens of times in the past, but I reread it last summer after at least a decade. Their wedding through the end was just awful, and I guess I forgot they were cousins! Second thought, don't reread as I don't want to ruin the memory for you.

I love the sweeping adventures of Old School far more than new historicals, but I grew up on those, reading them since probably 1994. It's great to see you taking these up and enjoying them as much as I do. You've got some great authors here (love McNaught, Graham/Drake, Garwood), but try a Deveraux: Raider (Pre-Revolutionary War), Princess (WW2), or 'Can't Remember the Name' but it was with Hank & Amanda mid-1910s labor movement in CA are a great place to start. There's Sweet Liar, too but that's a contemporary... at least in 1995. 😊 Lisa Ann Verge wrote a few in the late 1990s that were great, too; I recently tore through her blacklist. Jenkins is my 'break in case of emergency' author, so I haven't read a single one yet.
