Galvatron's reason for downsizing was confirmed in a Takara designer interview and it was problem of Hasbro's own making: He was a grey tank with more than two modes at the Voyager scale... which made him redundant to Animated Shockwave. So they felt Shockwave was the more important toy to push, and Galvatron got downsized.

That does make a bit of sense if you see the kids and current main line as more important than the collector's line, which at least at the time was true. So you'd push Animated over Classics.

Beast Wars Cheetor and Dinobot, Animated Legends guys, G2 Megatron, Armada Hot Shot… Universe 2.0 was Legacy before Legacy

I feel like Cosmos got in shape for his Universe Legends toy, kept in shape for Thrilling 30/Titans Return... and then realized by Velocitron Collection that he was happier tubby. Could just be me.

I actually liked the simplicity of that Silverbolt. Enjoyed this list!

I would have put Sideswipe/Sunstreaker top of holy grail. That mold is so good Botcot used it as Punch/Counterpunch... granted his fists are backwards in one mode.

List seems pretty spot on. I would have put Ironhide down in Flea Market hell with Galvatron. I hated both of those toys so much.

I am no Silverbolt fan, but that was (and still, after all these years, IS) a SOLID toy. Big, buffy, snap transformation back and forth, good weapon, cool electronics, playtime for hours, ratcheted goodness, lots of fun. Bargain bin? I’d buy a couple more.

This was a great toyline back in the day, and I have almost the entire collection, about 80%, sold a few like Silverbolt and Onslaught because of the better Combiner Wars versions. I also have that Galvatron, he's one of the most difficult Transformers in my entire collection! But still, definitely one of the most memorable lines ever made, I also agree about the genious molds of Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, what a pair! Cyclonus is also a great one despite the color scheme, best to get a repaint.

Back in the day I had Legends Starscream and Hound. Was a weird period where I was mainly into the movie figures and getting more into LEGO (Star Wars, Bionicle and Exo-Force). Since then I've got Galvatron (I wanted to try him out in hand, Not good but I still don't mind him), Starscream, Roadbuster vs Dirge, Cyclonus (2. 1 loose, 1 sealed), Legends Onslaught, Legends Animated Optimus Prime, Legends Warpath & Dropshot. Nice selection of figures overall, but I do agree with the strong and weak points of the line.

So fun fact ig you google the sg dinobot they used the universe 2.0 colour scheme and that’s exactly how I use mine

I’d watch a plastic addict video on that galvatron, please, as a fan of that series we’re starved for content

An era of CHUG that I’m simultaneously glad we moved on from and wish we could go back to. The fandom is so scared of their favorite character getting screwed over by budget issues or being subject to bizarre redesigns that I doubt we’ll see something as wild as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker being mold brothers and Galvatron as an Earth tank. Just because it’s not accurate doesn’t mean it’s suddenly a bad figure; you might end up missing out on gold if your only concern is accuracy. Also hot take: Universe Cyclonus would be legit perfect if he could hold together in vehicle mode and wasn’t such a dark shade of purple.

At least his repaints addressed the color. Sadly it wouldn't be until Kingdom that we'd get a good Galvatron; Universe is a mess, and Titans Return falls flat at the last moment with how utterly restrictive the flip out mask ends up being.

Given the way the robot face on the back of the Headmaster is sculpted, Hasbro should've done for Titans Return Galvatron what Takara did for their LG23: some purple paint on that Shredder's helmet lookin' crown part. (Too bad Takara fumbled the ball by keeping the flip-up "facemask" when it wasn't necessary anymore; somebody didn't think to adjust the tooling to remove it...)

Since starting out my collection, due to some figures just straight up being very expensive in my country I've been dipping into classics and the figs have been almost up to par with recent releases, for me this line aged quite well

Hound and Cyclonus still hold up incredibly well

-I have to slightly disagree with you, Cyclonus has no bicep swivels, still a good figure, just sucks that he can't rotate his arms. And no, I don't count the swivels below his elbows, those are over glorified wrist swivels. -Hell yeah, I love that Onslaught figure! -So, the white and red Powerglide, I use that as SG Viper. And the black repaint, I use as SG Powerglide. I love the size, but its very top heavy. -I've always wanted that Animated Legends Prowl. -I still really enjoy Deluxe Prowl, the lack of thigh swivels, and the high neck are weird choices, but it was the best Prowl for years.

Octane should be higher because he is a deluxe triple changer that turns into vehicle modes that have less in common than Astrotrian's that while not prefect pulls off all modes with a pretty fun transformation between the modes, and his wings and shoulders makes him feel taller but not at the expense of them being in the way of other figures on a shelf.

I had the Legends Animated Bumblebee and Legends Animated Optimus Prime, with Lockdown , as a Christmas gift on Christmas Day of 2009.

There are some Universe winners, especially Brawn, Beachcomber, Cosmos, Wheelie, and Warpath, but a fair number of meh and not great in there too. What takes me back is remembering the general thought that this was as good as we’d ever get.

I still want that Onslaught with the Butcher upgrade, that made it a head master psychopath.

At least Animated Starscream didn't get put in the "smash with a hammer" tier.

Would like to add that old 2008 Legends Class Jazz was first to transform into Porsche which won't be seen again till SS 86 Deluxe Jazz came. Bit of crime that that mold never get Stepper repaint nor this wasn't reissued in 2014. IMO Legends Class Hound's 2010 repaint in Hunt for the Decepticons line was something clicked me if only my retails would had bothers to bring along his wave mate Override which was ROTF Legends Class Sideways repaint that I really liked.

I missed out Universe 2.0 because I was new Transformers and I wasn’t ready for complicated Transformations.

I actually really like the Silverbolt. Yeah, his transformation is very bare bones, but he feels like a decent action figure if you're wanting something simple. He's got nice articulation, and I love the way he looks in robot mode. He's got a very nice silhouette to him. If it were my own list, he'd be somewhere around the middle of Retail Release. I can admit he doesn't have as much to offer compared to Onslaught, but Bargain Bin feels a bit too harsh, to me at least. As a long time Galvatron fan, the toy he got here always upset me so much. His first G1 styled toy since G1 itself, and its complete crap. It was also a sign of Galvatron always getting the short end of the stick in terms of modern G1 style toys, until his Kingdom toy came along and made me feel complete. So the fact that his Universe toy was the ONLY one to get Flea Market ranked feels good, just because of the grudge I have against it.

Kinda feel like we're being a little harsh on Silverbolt. Sure, he isn't doing anything incredible, but he's well articulated, has a nice paint job, and looks good in both modes. I think he at least deserved to go in retail release, but hey, that's just me.

I would say Inferno and Hound are Holy Grails

I kinda liked the Simplicity of Silverbolt transformation, I only have the repaint of it.

Too bad those older joints are woefully outta scale...like Reveal the Shield Jazz mold, the Universe Lambos hold up. And later lines would see Red Alert, who oddly uses the black Sideswipe head instead of the correct red (something Takara once again FIXED), and THE BEST version of Punch/Counterpunch. Can't say the same for the Datsuns, as I've heard instances of how apparently, Hasbruh used some odd kinda paint on the doors that even to this day, handling the doors alot causes the paint to get rather sticky...and there's a definite possibility that this affects the Takara Henkei releases, too. (I wonder if I got Mandela Effect'd... could've sworn that one of the Nissans came out during or near the end of Classics...)

Putting Universe Galvatron at the flea market level is too nice, you should have created a whole new section of "deserves to burn for all eternity in the agonizing fires of hell" just for that figure. Probably the worst transformer I've ever owned I returned him the same day I got him.

Mold-wise certainly, though I much prefer the original Cybertron Defense Scattorshot colors. Dropshot's colors are... unpleasant, from what I recall.

Dinobot being in the same tier as cheetor doesn't feel right. It's not THAT bad.

I knew there was a reason I owned three copies of that Cyclonus toy. I still really enjoy the Hound and Sideswipe molds (I have Red Alert). As for Prowl… I have the Bluestreak version… and I loathe that toy. Way too overcomplex, the door wing transformation is annoying and unnecessary.
