The people saying Bednar needed to be fired are crazy. He won us our first cup in 20 years, and did a good job with what he had this year vs Dallas

Yea that's absurd, not his fault Nichushkin failed a drug test, Toews got sick and Georgiev is his goalie

I’m a Stars fan/Avs hater and even I knew that would’ve been stupid. They were legit contenders all season and going into the playoffs.

Yeah him being fired is wild. No shot he will be unless they just turn hot trash as he is just an extremely good coach. But winning the cup is that on him? Or is it on having Mackinnon, Landeskog, Makar, Lehkonen, Kadri, Compher and Nichushkin notably? All of those guys at their best maybe other than Compher go from very low level SUPERSTAR level to very high SUPERSTAR level. The coach helps tremendously when it comes to the style they played for sure. But the amount of skilled people on that roster outweighs it for sure. That was insane when they had all of that together. Along with Rantanen which I forgot my bad lol. Bednar is a very good coach though. Any team would want him.

@@agentshadow7456eh I think it wasn’t only the players in the same way it wasn’t only the coach. You need to be a great coach with a great team to win

@@jusmax374 It was for sure both but I honestly think if they weren't that stacked at that time that series would have gone to game 7 since so many skilled players. Tampa probably could have won if it weren't for so many skilled players on The Avs. Coach couldn't really save that in my opinion.

Martin St Louis Team had the most man missed games by regulars, juggled 3 goalies lost 36 games by 1 goal, there were maybe 5 games where they were blown out. One of the youngest D cores on the league… Bang up job

Even this season, I find Brind'Amour better than meh. Knoblauch definitely deserves Great this season, but part of me wonders how great of a coach he'll be in the future. Part of me feels he might be a bit overrated, but at the same time, if he's the one to break through and bring the Oilers into the finals, I'll be much more of a believer. I remember thinking putting Stuart Skinner in net in Game 6 against my Canucks was the dumbest move I've seen... and then we lost twice. So we'll see how his legacy goes and if it grows.

Hey Mike, good vid as usual! Quick tip for coach/front office vids: just quickly say the team of the coach after his name. Just helps the ppl w bad memory (like myself- by the time I remembered who lane lambert was you were on to the next) and more casual fans keep up w your takes/insight. Good shit per usual tho, pretty much agree w everything but idk about Rod as Meh. This is the first season he underperformed imo, he’s solid.

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I know that you're An Islanders' Fan, but, I think that even you'd think that Peter Laviollette was snubbed - Jack Adams Coach Of The Year.

OK let's not mention #1 in the West. Least penalized team in the NHL. 8 20-goal scorers. Last 2 Western Conference finals. Were down 2-0 to Vegas, win in 7, you're welcome 30 other NHL teams. Then beat Colorado. He's 8 and 0 in game 7's. Switches up lines constantly getting things to work. Seasons not over alone puts him at great. Dallas in 5 was my prediction. Not saying it happens but DeBoer has coached a helluva season

  • @icewyre

Yeah DeBoer is a very solid coach with a great track record. It is odd to me that he wasn't in Great. Dallas' depth is great, but at the same time, going through Vegas and Colorado is a pretty unreal feat in itself this year.

I think that the same logic you used to put Chicago's Coach, Luke Richardson in Solid is the reason that you should have put David Quinn in Solid. As I agree & you said, David Quinn was doomed to fail, again, as with The Rangers.

It's almost entirely based on this current seasons results and the expectation(s) going in. When you look at how dominant Tampa has been for so long and to have just been a wildcard team who got killed in the first round: it would be a major disappointment. But obviously with all the factors that you've outlined: a solid rating is definitely the most appropriate

@@MikeBartner Yeah, and after coming back from an ass 14-12-1 start through 27 games and ending 52-23-7 is a hell of a job. I don’t understand why Rod should fault for his piss poor goaltending from Freddie in the playoffs. Is it just that it is expected of Rod now to win a cup every year or what

@@CxrsonYo Bruh you aren't giving Carbery any credit. Washington was expected to be bottom of the Metro, and they made it into the playoffs. Everyone expected Carolina to be a cup contender and yet they lost in the 2nd round. Expectations were exceded and also not met.

@@Duck-gk3rq To be fair no one expected The Rangers to be a presidents trophy team that literally played and played the best brand of hockey in the league. Carolina couldn't have beaten that let alone the fact Shesterkin is an elite goaltender. Washington really wasn't expected to be in the bottom that spot was reserved for whoever got lucky and better next season Columbus or Philadelphia I don't even know what your talking about bro no offence but the expectation was for Washington's overall points and skill to drop but to not be that low. Also the Russian Machine got filled with the gasoline and that really pushed them to the playoffs. If they each had a couple other games Penguins probably would have made it. Not trying to hate just saying.

Woodcroft did a bad job. It was a system problem that led to the other problems. David Quinn is a BAD coach
