That’s great! Do you mean the blues are staining the shower? If so I’ve used the scrubbing bubbles cleaner before and it cleans it right out😊

Love it, you make spines look too easy lol. My fat fingers stumble through them. I have one soaking in the muck right now. It’s a meg with geodes and a spine, about 24 hours, I’m getting antsy lol. I enjoy the HWI method, it’s always a surprise. ✌🏻❤️

I have never tried this hot water method. How long do you spray the shirt with hot water? Looking at a 4 gallon sprayer at Home Depot. Will that be big enough? Spray til all the water is gone?

4 gallons sprayer is plenty. You only need to spray until dye is completely saturated into the fabric. For a shirt it takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes and only uses about 1/2 gallon to a gallon of water. I hope this helps😊

Liked and subscribed! What a great piece you just put out! I'm just starting out, and am doing just the basic procion/water dyes from Dharma. Im just doing basic stripes and swirls at this point 😂 but im totally fascinated at all the different ways/styles of tie dye! Does this shirt not need to sit for 24 hrs for the dye to set? Would this be considered the pariah method? How do you prefer to wash out your shirts? Everytime I do a washout, my colors either come out faded or pastel 🤦 even after the soda ash solution soak and mixing my dyes with urea and a touch of casolene oil! Ive just now heard about the pariah method and would love to try it! I think this is HWI...but ist similar to the pariah method? Ive got alot to learn....but im definitely hooked lol!

Pariah is using soda ash water on the shirt after it is dyed. Typically you would still let the shirt sit for 24 hours. HWI is hot water irrigation so I mix powdered dye with soda ash and put it on the shirt and then I spray it patiently with 170 degree water so the dye can run through to the bottom of the shirt. Using the hot water can speed up the batching process. As for the fading issue you may want to make sure you are using 100% cotton shirts because the more polyester in the shirt the dyes won’t react to it correctly.

This is gorgeous! I have been tie dying custom aerial fabrics for the past few months. I’m curious if I can do this method with nylon fabric? The fabric I dye is nylon tri-cot fabric. The dye I use is Jacquard Acid Dye. Would love to be able to do more specific patterns like your videos but as of now I’ve only been dip dying in boiling water with these dyes, cause the directions say to let it sit in boiling water for 30 minutes. Curious if you think this hot water spray method would work with nylon fabric? Thanks!

Absolutely! What I normally do is tuck in the sleeves at first and then after you have the mandala and spine tied up, take the sleeve out and scrunch what’s left ☺️💜

Sorry. I used to go normal speed and received more complaints than anything so this way is what I decided on. I know others have told me that they slow down the video using the settings icon and playback speed and it works great for them. Hope this helps😊

Sorry you feel that way but these tie dyes take hours to do. If you didn’t know, you can change the speed of the video using the video settings button in the top right corner of the video window.
