This is what happens when a musical film is directed by someone who actually understands musicals and isn't afraid to use his imagination. You get a true masterpiece.

Facts. The combination of this movie with Lin-Manuel is actual perfection. He's uniquely qualified to tell this exact story, and he made the most of it. Rewatched it yesterday and I'm still in awe of how brilliant it is.

The best part about this movie is that it’s actually a movie musical, it’s not just a recreation of the stage production. Like, this sequence wasn’t in the original because there’s no way this could’ve, this movie does things that can only be done in a movie and that add to the story and I will forever be grateful that it was done that way.
What I love the most is that Andrew did all of his own swimming. His father is a swim coach so he's been doing laps since he was a little boy. Apparently they'd set aside two days and a stunt swimmer for this scene, but Andrew by himself did it in one day. The stunt swimmer even said, "i can't swim like him." I bet his father was so proud watching this!

This is how musical adaptation should be done! Not just a film version of a musical, but actually using the potential of films that can't be done on a theatre!
I still can't get over the fact how brilliantly this movie was directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda as his feature directorial debut and he did a fantastic job with it

It’s amazing to see how the lyrics of “come to your senses” come to him … from hearing Vanessa’s voice to the lyrics on the screen. BRILLIANT.
Can’t believe Andrew could sing this whole song while swimming
The attention to detail they did with this movie is insane they used the same pool Jonathan Larson swam in

The detail in the editing, sound, choreography, set design, all of it. It is almost impossible how great of a film this truly is.
The magic, the chills, this film captures the essence of Jonathan and theatre and puts it on screen with such care and passion.
This gives me chills. This is the most stunning moment in a film full of stunning moments. Bravo.

1:36 you can see the music note
1:00 "Can I make it to 40?" As if somewhere deep inside, the unconsciousness made him feel that his time was limited...
RIP Jonathan Larson (February 4, 1960 - January 25, 1996), aged 35 You will always be remembered as a legend.
I absolutely love this!!!! Every second of this movie is just pure perfection❤❤

And also skateboarding. :)
This was the moment when my hair stood up on the back of my neck-when the swimming lanes transformed to lines of music. Emily Dickinson said real poetry does this to a reader. Lin Manuel’s poetry joined to Jonathan Larson’s = sublime.
I dreamt about this song, then woke up with it in my head, then scrolling youtube it popped up...maybe the universe is telling me to take up swimming? Or try harder with my song writing? Or maybe it just wants me to watch tick, tick...BOOM! again! 😆
