Extreamely well done video. I bet she got a 3+ at the university level for this. Everybody out there have weak feet, due to shoes and lifestyle, so this should be practised a little by all. For you young men out there in sports especially, before you undertake those vertical jump programes that can give you a 40'' hop, do your research, and do three months of foot and ankle workouts like this before you start, otherwise youll end up with 9 months of chronic tendonosis (foot pain) like I did!!

These are much better exercises for Tib Post than what we learned at college to give to patients. Thank you.

The navicular drop test is a quick test to do to measure the amount of pronation. It is shown to be reliable amongst experienced clinicians (Mueller et al. 1993; Sell et al. 1994). It has good validity, since the majority of supination/pronation occurs at the talo-navicular joint. It is also possible to measure navicular drift, medial excursion of the navicular in sagittal plane. But this has average reliability and normal values are unknown.

The forefoot adduction exercise is shown to selectively and most effectively activate the tibialis posterior muscle on feet with a normal arch index (Kulig et al. 2004). Wearing foot orthoses and shoes improves selective activation of the tibialis posterior in persons with flat feet (Kulig et al. 2005). The signal intensity of the popliteus and medial hamstrings was not measured during this exercise.

Yes, the exercises strenghten the muscles on the inside of the foot, which will lift the arch if you have flat feet.

Warning. The exercise at 1:20 seconds creates excessive amounts of tibial internal rotation. This is working the popliteus and medial hamstring, much more than the posterior tibialis. Visualize the patella and tibia's movement relative to the femur. The goal is foot motion, not knee motion.

Some authors says more than 10mm and other authors says more than 15mm is an overpronation.

Often when the medial longitudinal arch is dropped, the tibialis posterior is weak and therefore there might be limited internal rotation/forefoot adduction, since this is the action of the tibialis posterior muscle.

For the tib post exercise you need to slow down the release phase to eccentrically strengthen the muscle as this is how it functions. J

The last test, how many mm does it have to be to say its an overpronator?

Hi ive recently sprained my ankle inverting it. The pain of the outside of the ankle where the damage was done has diminished however I am now feeling pain on the inside ball of the ankle when running mainly. I play soccer and this is causing me some pain. Just want to ask if it is the posterior tibialis or may it be something else? Thanks
