** Interview Summary: Kalsang Dolma is the eldest of five siblings. Her father owned a horse-cart and earned a living by transporting wood from the forest of Dromo to the Chinese army camps. Later when her father was imprisoned, she carried on the work of her father. She recounts her experience during the Cultural Revolution. She describes how her parents were arrested in the middle of the night, imprisoned, tortured and labeled as "Dalai Clique." The different kinds of thamzing 'struggle session' inflicted on the prisoners are discussed in detail. Kalsang Dolma talks about the ordeal she and her mother went through to obtain food for the younger children and imprisoned father. The miserable life of her family and other Tibetans during this period and her desperate wish as a child to see a miracle of His Holiness the Dalai Lama appearing in the sky are some of her vivid descriptions. Kalsang Dolma is concerned about the environment of Tibet and talks about how the Chinese denuded the forests of Dromo and carted away centuries-old wood to China. She describes the serious impact it has had on the environment such as the melting of snow and rise in temperature.

Such a tragedy story and the interviewer sounds so dramatic and no sympathy. And then what happened it seems...I literally cried a river listening to her, could visualize whatever she must have gone through in Tibet. I pray and hope you are living a good and peaceful life now in India. Respect for u are so so strong women. All love Achala 😍😍

Gyama means 500 gm, therefore, 15 gyama means 7.5 Kg, so people were given a card which allowed ot buy only 7.5 kg per month for the adults and half of it (3.250 gm) is allowed to buy for the children, which was never enough so people always starved.

It is the fault of Tibetan not fighting back and killing the invaders. Buddhism has made Tibetan a sitting duck.

If you research a little or just listen to the oral history of Mr. Kalsang Chime Womatsang , you will learn that Tibetans fought against the Chinese. Unfortunately the lack of the unity among Tibetans ( still today we are suffering from this disease) , poor or archaic weapons, few thousands Tibetan fighter against millions of well equipped modern Chinese military, only a miracle could have saved Tibet!!! Without 4 rivers and six ranches freedom fighters from Kham ( chu-shi-gangdruk), many thousands of Tibetans have died. So please inform yourself before you judge others…
