Tibet Oral History Project

Tibet Oral History Project

The Tibet Oral History Project (TOHP) aims to preserve the history and culture of the Tibetan people by documenting the life experiences of Tibetan elders, who were forced to flee their homeland following the Chinese invasion. The project has videotaped the oral histories of 304 Tibetan elders living in exile. This oral history collection is invaluable. It provides intimate portraits of the elders - the last generation to live in a free, unoccupied Tibet - and preserves for future generations the memories of their homeland. Thank you for making this video. This woman was a young, innocent, probably illiterated when she escaped Tibet. She grew up in a small, secluded, rural area where there was not much to see and to experience. She was quite honest inanswering the questions. Her words for China is quite mild. However, just hearing about how afraid her relatives were when talking to her on the phone, one can tell that her relatives were afraid of China leaders? Why? Need to ask? Her parents’ house did not get taken away, probably was because it was so poor that China did not want it. Free Tibet!

Imagine what if one of them didn’t obey during the ceremony, what would be plan B be?// this is very clear: the whole event, before Dalai Lama’s announcement, has been threatening, lying and disrespect. That’s why there was not enough trust built from 1950s to today.

1: 7 point meditation, Breathing exercise - blow out air from right nose 3 times - 1st a red Rooster, 2nd a male form not insect, 3rd cloudy air and the left nose, clow out a bluish snake, 2nd a female form, 3rd mixed colored air. All above designates 5 poison and all the illness of the body pushed out and inhale all the good energies back into the body. the last part is missed here. it is blowing from both the nose - 1 goes out a pig, 2nd transbeing showing indecisiveness, 3rd is 84000 negative emotions. Finally the body is ready and pliable to focus into meditation. Follow Buddha do's and donts and get enlightened. Then make tsok offering to the Buddhas, and practice compassion towards others. Rinpoche follows Mahasiddha practice of Phadampa Sangay, Jetsun Mila and Thangthong Gyalpo. His lineage is from Guru Rinpoche, Gyalo Trisong Deutsen, Khadro Yeshe Tsogyal, Melong Dorjee, Longchen Ramjam, Jigme Lingpa, Jigme Gyalwa Nyugu, Za Patrul Rinpoche, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, Jamyang Chokyi Lodro, Rinzin Pema Tsewang,Phadampa Sangay, Jetsun MilaPhadampa Sangay, Jetsun MilaPhadampa Sangay, Jetsun Mila,

Tibetans who attempt to translate dharma are completely taken back on surprise realizing dharma is deep and need prolific understanding of its meaning as well as English terminology.

Yes, most of the Tibetans are not literate in dharmic terms. Also there is the different dialects spoken by Tibetans. Rinpoche is from Dhingri so one needs to understand that as well.
