I like how the label says "Thunderbird" twice. Like they wanted it to look fancy, but someone said "Wait, our target market might not be able to read it in fancy cursive. We better add BLOCK TEXT above that."

Once upon a time in the Army Reserve, we mixed Thunderbird, Night Train, Mad Dog, Wild Irish Rose, and MRE grape cool aide. I called it permanent brain damage, or PBD for short. The ensuing hangover the next morning felt like a metal spike was driven through my head, temple to temple. There was some hideous gargoyle with a little metal hammer tapping on the spike about once a second. Tap, tap, tap, tap......

In south Texas, frozen margaritas are common fare in restaurants, but not all of them have hard liquor licenses, so they sell wine-aritas. I used to work in a restaurant that won awards for their winearitas. Using Thunderbird.

Pretty sure you have to drink this in an alley while sitting near a dumpster to fully appreciate this wine.

His first mistake was pouring it into a glass. Best drunk straight from the bottle, mostly while it's still wrapped in a brown paper bag. Lol.

I have always contended that Thunderbird is made by taking a 5 gallon bucket to Skidrow and paying winos to piss in it. Then, back at the factory (not distillary or winery, but factory) they add equal parts Welch's white grape juice and kerosene.

Used to love Thunderbird when I was first in the Army in the early 80’s. Hanging out with the brothers got me into it!

Where/how did you get that? I haven't seen it on the shelf anywhere in 5 or 6 years. What's the word? Thunderbird! How's it sold? Good and cold! What's the jive? 'Birds alive! What's the price? .30 twice!! Thunderbird was Gallo's companion product along with Ripple (carbonated, fortified wine) which was a favorite of Fred Sanford, and Night Train Express which was the "mean wine" consumed by Joliet Jake in The Blues Brothers. ps. love the term "fruit jerky".

Night Train needs to be on this.

@@imaramblins The only ones I see anymore are MD20/20, WIR, and Boone's Farm. I don't know where/how this guy got a bottle of T-Bird. I bought a bottle as a gag gift about 10 years ago and haven't seen it since. Possibly homeless people and high school/college kids are still buying it. Who knows.

I'd love to see real wine reviews too but I think what makes this guy's videos so hilarious is the absolute abomination beverages he chooses to review. If he started reviewing actual (read: good) wine, he may lose his audience. There's entertainment value to reviewing Everclear as opposed to a Francois Raveneau Grand Cru Chablis.

Talking Thunderbird Blues - Townes Van Zandt 🤣

I use to drink it in the late 70s because at a party no one else would drink it so I had it all to myself. They changed the formulation in the mid 80s to a slightly sweeter taste but still 20% alcohol. The 70s version tasted like watered down vodka strained through dirty jock straps as I imagined it might be like. I think it was around 75 cents a bottle

Thunderbird *is* Gallo, and last I heard they discontinued that stuff and relaunched with a more 'wine-like' thunderbird in three varieties: cabernet, 'red blend,' and chardonnay. Dare you to try those.

That looks like the chardonnay version. It's definitely a new label. The most recent one I remember was red/yellow and had the Thunderbird logo on the front.

We would get fubar drinking this and other stuff back in my high school days. My friends would call it thunder chicken. Lmao

Gotta go down to the ole' 7-11 and grab a box(bladder) full of Franzia at one point.

I put thunderbird in my bbq sauce for pork. It works. Drinking it not so much lol

When I was much, much younger, we played quarters with this. I think. It's all a bit fuzzy now.

Oddly enough most of the target audience for Thunderbird were also between employment opportunities. Not exactly sommeliers but they were experts at drinking as well.

As a teen in the '60s , we gave a local wino a bottle of t-bird or Ripple to buy us a fifth of Seagrams VO . He was like a pig in **** and jumped up as soon as he saw us pull in the liq. store lot . Happy days 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
