You're at the last level where you're fighting the monolith "writer" of your track. You're literally fighting the unfolding of your reality, hence the inconstant rhythm.

Thumper, if you haven’t noticed, is a rhythmic violence game. There are nine levels of ever increasing tempo and obstacles. Level 9-27 has a rapidly increasing tempo The infinity level rhythm is distorted. Both are meant to mess with and rest you. It’s a GOOD game. I have beaten it with all S rank. S+ is ever harder. You have one life and the tempo increases the more notes you hit. You die, the game is over.

it's weird. Everyone hams it up to be hard as fuck, but when you actually get there, it only takes 5 tries to find a rhythm in the chaos. After that, it's all about pressing every thump at the right time. I kept missing that one thump on the 4th part.
