Everytime I hear Ugly, I'm always reminded of all the interviews where members of the group would point out that the CEO of YG would always tell them they were ugly. They really were treated like crap. Here's just one example from when they were still active, not disbanded: CL continued, “YG came to a concert rehearsal once. When we do a rehearsal we don’t put on any makeup. He looked from afar into the screen and said ‘Ah… They are really ugly.’ In front of all the staff! I was a bit disappointed.”

The general public at the time called them the ugliest girl group. It was just gross how they were treated despite being so popular. YG kept trying to get CL to get plastic surgery but she refused. When YG was talking about debuting BlackPink he literally said they're just like 2NE1 but pretty.

@@roguereacts Yeah, there's definitely a rabbit hole of mistreatment that has been done to 2NE1 by YG. BlackJacks are still bitter but we've all done our best to move on so the members themselves can move on. Luckily, they are all still working and doing what they love, and they still meet each other all the time. Just recently Sandara made her Korean solo debut and all the other members showed their support. She's the one whose voice you really like.

That's why 2ND GEN is the GOLDEN AGE of KPOP.

2ne1 has the best kpop fashion even now. Their outfits are so different and inspired and funky.

Yeah 2ne1 dischography didn't have b-sides like most of the groups, they 'd release many hits for their full album and promote them like singles, that's why all their songs have the quality to be like a title track

Only BigBamg and 2NE1 and GDragon got their songs incl non title tracks fighting for spots in the charts 😅 At least 6 songs of a just released album in TOP 10 and all were in TOP 20 .. No other groups nor solo had that "power" Not even IU who Korean said their own Taylor Swift 🙄 2NE1 last album Crush was released at the same time as their rival Girls Generation It was supposed to be a war but 2NE1 just slayed them easily ... They're the ultimate Kpop Girlband ..

7:22 So 2NE1 didn't really do the whole 'title track + b sides' model that most kpop artists do. They'd release several singles scattered over a few months, all fully promoted with MVs and music show stages etc, then release an album at the end with all of the singles plus b-sides (more like how we do in the west). I Am the Best, Lonely and Ugly were all on the same album along with Hate You, Don't Stop the Music and Bom's solo Don't Cry which are also ALL singles with MVs 😂. So you see why there's an MV overload 🤣 I do hope you get to react to some of their live stages some day. Because they really bring the vocals and the energy! Their MAMA 2015 performance is honestly a moment of historical significance at this point. And their acoustic version of Come Back Home that they did as a tribute to the Sewol ferry tragedy is beautiful and heartbreaking.

"Missing you" give me goosebumps every time, and "gotta be you" is also highly recommended

Ugly - my all-time fave 2NE1 song. The message is so good, you could interpret it several ways. The girls were screaming about Korea's beauty standards back then, which is still relevant to this day.

When I first heard I LOVE YOU back on July 2012, I thought it was the most sophisticated and cleverly produced song up until that point. Even today, I still consider it one of the most unique pop songs. You should see the set for their Inkigayo Comeback Stage. Still the GRANDEST stage ever in Kpop. Wont spoil anything but two words, VERSACE and HERMES.

2NE1 is probably the best kpop girl group and no other group can compete cause 2NE1 already did it 🎉

Oh, but "It Hurts" will soon be your number 1 (Park Bom did her thing on that)....However., "If I Where You" will change your life...."Crush" (the live version) will help you wish you went to one of their concerts...Let's not forget the iconic Mama 2015 performance... Oh, and the song that reminds me of reggae is "Falling in Love" and "Baby I Miss You" is a R&B gem. You have to watch their acoustic performances. I currently watched SBS Awards with YG Family. They were promoting all the guy groups. It was good. Then the last minute or so, a 16 year old CL comes out and held her spot with all those guys. YG didn't know what he had when he let them go like that.

You have to react to their lives. They are the best on the stage

2NE1's best Bsides: In The Club, Stay Together, Good to you, If I Were You o& Baby I Miss You. They didn't have much bsides 3/4's of their discography were singles because they were so good. Also all of their bsides charted really good.

UGLY is a really deep song .. interpretations in many many ways, ie. Some beautiful people are ugly inside, also they were considered ugly for Idols back in the day and got alot of hate so that also was a part in the meaning...And sometimes people feel ugly just from maybe things they've done or said another example

I would vote to never react to Goodbye and for good measure Still Life from Big Bang (technically not a final song for all intents it may as well be). They make me so sad.

That's why we In the 2nd gen can't even compare the recent groups nowadays,,I couldnt get to like any girl group coz the standards were so hyped earlier ,,,like goosebumps everytime 2ne1 would perform,,not a dull moment with them,,

This is why 2NE1 songs are never boring.

They have the best live performances in Korea's music shows, Dance practice, awards shows and concert stage shows!

2nd Gen kpop was cutting edge and so so good...old yes, outdated maybe but they've influenced everything we hear up to today...and yes you might of missed this golden era but thats what KZread is for....I recommend 4minute and F(X) next both GG. (4Minute~ Hate has a sick beat drop also)

They were dubbed the "ugly but multitalented" group back then it was so annoying! This notion took a toll on Minzy's mental health. Imagine being a 15yo and gotbtold that you're ugly on a reagular basis. And you grew up with that knowledge engraved in your mind. I'm just glad that Minzy and all of them got out of that trash of a company now!

BP was promoted as better prettiier 2NE1, but nah, they don't have the charisma 2NE1 unnis have and ispired their producers so little They got the same main producer Teddy Park but all 2NE1 are so wholesome, live performance with live band were EPIC 2NE1 songs have full structures with good lyrics not just some catchy tunes intent for Tiktok viral like BP It's like Teddy wasn't inspired and lazy to work on BP ..
