I'm like 20 hrs into this game and having a lot of fun tbh. I really like the aesthetics of this game that brings out that immersive medieval vibe. I'm not actually into the whole guild-focused gameplay though simply cuz I don't really social much in game plus it's hard for me to connect with ppl in a server where there aren't lots of English speaking players. So far the game looks pretty decent but I just hope they make it more friendly to solo players

Some of the stuff you didn't like can be turned off --- check the settings. Maybe you should do a video on all the setting. Those mini bosses that are on the quest trace actually show up on the map when their live and walking around.

Im so happy the WORLD has stuff in it like the events. Guild wars 2 really spoiled me and set the bar high for WORLD interactions. I think mmo's have started to focus too much on instanced content sadly and it loses out on the mmo aspect for me :(

I agree. That open world dungeon looks dope too. GW2 spoiled me too.

This looks cool. Also i like your style of videos. The fact that you mention grey areas and mention things you dont like but other people do is refreshing.

Can you show us how do you play the kr version of throne and liberty?

There was an option in the last beta that let you disable forcing your player into range lock-on, and the combat definitely felt interactive with a game controller.

Is it possible to switch from say magic build to melee build with these dual weapon swaps or is magic locked to class, if there are any. I would love a battlemage type character who can use both spells and get into melee if needed

You can have any combo you like, there's 4 stats which would maybe hinder it but they all seem useful for all classes

Played for 4 days with no stop now. Really enjoying it after thousands hours of newworld. It's a different game, different combat and different world vibe for sure. Cant really compare them directly. So far very good leveling experience, however i hear at max level there is nothing to do. Still 38 so will see how it goes.

Giant goblin bucher is easy to find. You can easily find any elite in game. Open map, on left there is area list, there find name of zone your quest say he is in, then press on exclamation mark next to it it will open list of all enemies in that zone and press on your enemie then on location button. This will mark all spots he spawn on map for you.

@@bad_boy8269 game feels like 90% lineage2/aion and 10% guildwars2. If you played/liked any of these you might like TL. Atleast its free to start playing so no problem to try. I am level 38now of 50 and dont feel any need to spend any money yet. Will see how it is late game when I get there.

Yes been playing a decent amount currently n I’d say it’s a solid 6.5/10 good not great but definitely fun, prolly would’ve been a 7 but combat feels janky it’s just not fluid enough

the tab target argument is because he comes from NW (the action combat with very limited attack is the best selling point of NW) The fuck with tab target is when it is design for people with no skill.. you can make a good tab target combat like tESO or BnS.. or bad one like ashes (u can lock on target and teleport backward unlike a tESO u teleport in the direction your looking.. on ashes it's the direction your moving = low skill game/bad tab target)

I'm bummed that i can't play it. I got a verified koren account, and im using exitlag as well. I also switched my pc clock to korea but whenever i log into the launcher and click on start game, it just pretends to run for like 10 secs and then the start game button becomes purple and clickable again and it just won't launch.😢

Can you make a guide on how to play on the Korean server pls? Like I'm not sure if I need a korean phone number or just a VPN. The TL discord server has some info on how to setup VPN but does not mention if you need a phone number or not. 10x

You need to verify your account to play, which needs Korean details. A VPN by itself isn't enough

It does simplify the game by not having crafting. Loot tables are smaller, nodes, pop times. Does it have an economy that needs managing? Having tab targeting makes the combat engine easier to function. Frame syncing etc.

I just see a hell lot of players in one same zone without lagging, disappearing or generic skin changing, that for a MMO, is a big success these days.

Thank you for sharing. One of the great things, and in my opinin intelligent move is to NOT open vast number of zones and big world from the start. I like games, which develop over time, and don't overwhelm you form the start with the biggest world map ever, and then cannot keep up the pace in future. The map looks, like there is much to come in future, and you will have plenty to do in the beginning. Many great games died after 1-2 years, because they wanted to offer everything fro the start to compete with the big established MMOs just to fail to deliver in the long run.

All those menus / systems remind me of how it was suppose to be playable with mobile. A lot of mobile mmorpgs have so many menus/ systems you have to click. Still will wait for the Western release for this game and see how much enjoyment I can get from the game.

I agree with some of your points, with others I don't. I ,personally, don't mind Tab Target too much. Sure, Action Combat is more engaging but it's not the end of the world. The questing is alright, nothing special but gets the job done and I don't think it's slow. I don't care for Tradeskills, don't bother with it in other games unless I have to. They already announced a PvP Zone for the second big Update down the line, which I am very much looking forward to. All in all, it is as you say. The game has no unique selling point. It is alright but time will tell if they can add something that makes it stand out. I was hoping they would share the global release date at the Game Awards but of course there was nothing.

The selling point for me is the open world PvP, some person prefer their theme park over sandboxy MMOrpg, it's ok.. you have a tons of instanced PvE themepark MMO in the WEST to pretend PvP, like tESO, WoW or NW.. I just wish NCSoft was not lying when they announce that game with NO P2W over the years.. the F2P announcement was the end of the dream.. at best we gonna have a couple months of OW PvP before the P2W ruins this game.

level different in pvp to compete is one of the best things, why it should be harder for me to fight lv25 vs lv 15 if i invested more time. bigger question is do higher gear (low lv player) overkill higher lv player i think thye will balanced it. btw NCSFOT always end game with p2w, there is no exception

I like tab target so, I am cool with that. I think we are dodging a bullet by it not coming out right away here. I think there might be quite a few more changes before it hits the global market, so it might be a great game by the time we can play it in the US. I think I will skip trying it out while it is in Korea only but, give it a shot when it comes to the US through AGS. Thanks for the great video on what it looks like so far.

Almost no loading screen while teleporting is greate. Cool if New World have this.

New World but we lacking some content!

This game is for people that don't want to pay a monthly subscription to play an MMO that is well put together. I think the most enjoyable part of this game will be the communities within it for doing open world and PVP activities. I think it will have a FF 14 vibe to it.

This is a proper MMO! I am glad that Ncsoft made a better version of Lineage 2. Now i guess when it's released all my millions in the New World are going to rust a bit haha. Thanks for the review Jay!

I dont mind the old school theme of this game. I love long, hard fights, tab-target is IMO the superior combat system if done well (wow, archeage). Also dont mind the premium currency, since you can buy gold in every mmo anyways, but I am scared of p2w like archeage where you could buy the increased upgrade change thing in the store. Thankfully we cant fail upgrades here so will possibly not be a problem. I would say that the korean release of the game has impressed me massively, seems way better than than what I expected just a week ago.

As someone that has worked on MMOs and MMO tech for the majority of my software engineering career, the only way to properly make an MMORPG is with tab-targeting. Any form of real-time combat you could code in an MMO requires so much faking on the client and resolution on the server, that nothing is every truly fair. By the time you've attacked something, the server received processed the legitimacy and results of your attack, then broadcast it to all entities in the interest-cell, 3-4 seconds have passed. I always laugh when I see someone die in games like Tera Online and Black Desert Online, and they're like, "How did they hit me?" Little do they know, they never hit the person they've been attacking either. By the time they attacked what they saw, it was somewhere else on the server already, and the server just used determinism to decide the chances of a hit being successful. Even the slightest lag and all that data is even more inaccurate and needs to be even more faked. Sorry for the rant haha, glad you like the combat.

Hey Jay I liked your feedback. I generally don't like a TON of systems. Even BDO has too many systems. I don't like login rewards. I don't like like collection rewards. There are far too many other things I'd rather be doing. I played Throne yesterday and the day before and the world is the best part of the game. It's a beautiful world. That is hugely important for me so I'm sure that will keep me plying for a least a few weeks but I want crafting like Final Fantasy or Guild Wars 2. Crafting that matters. Crafting in Rift was actually really fun as well. You don't need a ton of systems you just need a good story a good progression path through dungeons and gear and quests and some niceties like a dye system and transmog or costumes. Anyway the jury is out but the combat isn't good enough and the crafting obviously isn't what you would like. Thanks again for the video. Well done.

NOw Archeage is deciding to go single player, I'll give that a miss and look forward to Throne & Lib

If you like old school MMO feels, this is it. Reminds me of GW1. Definitely not for people who have had it easy MMO style. Leveling is just fine. Tab target is switchable to action combat which is PERFECT. Movement feels really good. Questing is seamless. Just my opinion. I’ve got 20 hours in? It’s been a lot of fun and it’s gorgeous.

Been playing too, I like it a lot, tryna build a tank......butvim also just enjoying the questing, havnt dome any dungeons yet

how can be boring if people push max lvl in 3 days,this is not mmorpg!For reason why i waiting AoC you need over 40 days to push max lvl if you play 4-6 hours per day!Same in Lotro i think i pushing lvl over 2 month :D,so point is i want to enjoy in game and research everything!@@jayoddity

I hope RIOT is listening to streamers like Jay. Coming out with a MMO today is hard, you either New World it and add things later and scavenge off what players will tolerate it, or you develop a 50% game like T&L and hopefully things get added later to get on par with GuildWars2 or World of Warcraft, or you spend longer in dev and come out with a fully developed game. Once you wrap your head around older graphics games being an art style and not hyperrealism then these older MMO's are just fine. GW2 actually looks semi modern if you setup reshade, wow is always going to be wow, and that style is adopted into WayFinder which is what I'd imagine a RIOT mmo would even look like and considering that the WayFinder company did work on some RIOT League titles it's not surprising to see familiar art styles there. When you come down to it, are you just interested in end game content, the community aspect, exploring, crafting or all of the above. That's what makes a MMO for a person what they find important and what is catered to them. I've watched hours of T&L gameplay and I find the MMO sort of soul less still. Wow has tons of side quests, but once those are done it's mainly raids, mythic+, and transmog. In GuildWars2 lol there's all kinds of end game content it's not even funny and everything from the starter zone to the end game is still relevant to your end game play. They did an excellent job tying that together. Which makes it weird that considering ANet's and NCSoft's relationship is that some of that did not rub off onto the game. Dynamic events are awesome, meta events are needed as I have not seen them in the game. It's like a 10% solution right now. Course as more land opens more of that may be there. Jay try GW2 if you haven't, the hybrid mode is a mix of tab and action combat, and it works. Unlike T&L if you fire off an attack out of range or not pointed at the right mob it's wasted so how you play is consequential.

I'm mixing up my youtube content but I am playing New World on stream today

So the combat is pretty much just like Aion only that it has an action combat feature as well xD I guess NCsoft doesn't wanna move away from auto-attacks xD

I actually love tab target. I'm not a console player and really hate using a controller for playing an mmorpg. They are a must for the action combat games where combos are a thing because moving and doing your attacks and skills is pretty hard or uncomfortable on a mouse and keyboard. Honestly, it's one the reasons why I could never get into games like Black Desert or Blade n Soul. It also might be that I am an old school gamer and tab target is just the more traditional style for an mmorpg...well that or click to move/attack.

In my opinion, pure action combat on mmos just doesn't work. A hybrid can work but ac for sure not. TL sounds solid I'll try the game game for sure.

Looks great, but I think I am going to skip this one. With so many systems already at launch, I can't imagine it in a year or 2. I used to play Conquer Online as a kid, and it got to a point where there was like 100 different systems you needed to do to gain power, and the top players were spending like 100,000$ so they could 1 shot everyone else.

I'm glad you gave your opinion without bashing it like every other mainstream streamer. What people nowadays don't understand is the old school MMO player has been itching for something like this for a longg time now. Its nostalgic but with upgraded graphics, I just ask for people who aren't a fan, just go play something else, and please don't review bomb the game because its not your cup of tea.

Not had the chance to play but overall from what I've seen, it looks really promising. My only concern is AGS. I just hope the game doesn't get diluted to appease the soft Western casuals.

why is it when ever someone talks about this games market they never mention that you can also make premium currency for free by selling items as well? this means i could sell junk to wails and buy all the premium stuff i want without ever spending a penny. just like in warframe.

I think people don’t like any new MMOs because.. well, OSRS is the best mmo already and if the game isn’t worth quitting OSRS for than it’s a no go sorry 🤷🏽‍♂️ 😂 No but for real. The game looks pretty decent I just hope there’s enough to do to keep us engaged with it until the first expansion. I think MMOs now a days are so afraid of giving players a true grind like OSRS that they complete all the content and get tired of the game before they can become truly invested In it

As far as the combat goes, I'm gonna argue that the reason they didn't go super heavy on the action combat is because the majority of current MMO players don't actually want that. It's nice at first and then tedious in the long run. Games like WoW and FF14 have done so well because of their appeal to casual gameplay and the sort of "zone out" gameplay loops that they employ. It could be that we haven't seen an MMORPG employ heavy action combat in a good way, with complex encounters. For me personally, while i'm fully capable of the whole action combat thing, aiming everything etc, I vastly prefer tab target. There is just something about a good tab target MMO that scratches an itch, to me its like a genre in itself.

Most of you crying about p2w games....welcome to NCSoft babes! Dont play this game unless you want to invest real time on it to enjoy its content. (No offense Jay, but another youtuber made an argument, so now all of you will live with those consiquenses) So better find and enjoy the content on NW before you start a game like this. Lineage 3 and generally NCSoft games are not meant for fainthearted people. What you see in 2-4 months you ll need to buy with real money to keep up! We wait this game since 2011, instead we got F2P-> P2W Lineage 2 : Goddess of Destruction.

I played tab target for YEARS, not sure I can go back to it. Also, not really a fan of the high fantasy anymore. It does look like a beautiful game though.

tab is auto lock on and you can press tab to cycle the enemy, action normally means you lef click to attack and you don't lock on, there is a hybrid

NCsoft really needs to improve T&L's combat style. I think the game's graphics, combat sound effects, vast map, and multi-class switching ...etc are all top-notch and great designs. The ONLY problem is that the combat style is tab-target. NCsoft can make a targeting and action mix game like Blade and Soul, but Throne and Liberty is almost 95% Tab-target. If I say B&S's combat style is 10/10, then I personally think that Throne and Liberty's combat style is about 5.5 /10(Only talk about combat style here)

I agree. While I understand they "improved the combat" it still feels mobile-like to me. Even more so than a normal tab target game.
