May I suggest that you add labels to the back of the pieces so future you (and future generations) will know where and when it came from.

*I have German ancestry and will probably never be able to go to Germany. Thank you for letting me see the country of my ancestors through your eyes❣️* *I would leave the oil painting in the original frame...it's lovely. 🥰* *A recommendation: take time now - while it's FRESH in your mind - to label the backs (with a date!) of each of your purchases (and great-grandma's breadboard) with a description and perhaps a tiny thumbnail photo of the store you bought it at or the town in which it was found. You ●THINK● right now that you will ■ALWAYS■ remember these details - but TRUST ME - at almost 70 years old, BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU - you will NOT - and these precious memories passed down to your boys and future generations deserve to be as accurate as they are cherished. Please do the SAME thorough labeling of your photos, Andrea and Mike. 💜🙏🕊✝️. I PROMISE you will not regret it‼️ Having an 88 year old Mother and going over DECADES of her photographs with no names of the people or dates on the backs of the photos (that she was CERTAIN she would remember) has been torture to our Mother and so heartbreaking to see her regret. We may never figure out some of the nameless relatives she has pictures of. 😭 Please don't let this happen to you‼️😔*

Your thrift finds are all wonderful. Those paintings are beautiful. I live in an area that is mostly German people. A large segment of them are third and fourth generation, but there's another large segment that are first generation, born and partly raised in Germany. They now have children who are first generation Canadians. I love the warmth and kind heartedness of the Germans.

Mike’s Oma was probably so delighted you loved the bread board and knew you would cherish it.❤️ I am Canadian and when we travel to the southern United States for a few months, I do a little thrifty. My husband always reminds me that I have to make room for it in our 24 foot RV. 🤷‍♂️😂 It is always nice to bring home something special to remind you of your previous travels. Thanks for sharing.❤️

I am loving the Germany videos! I lived in Hamburg, Germany for 2 years serving a mission for my church. I LOVED it. I shortly later met and married my husband who’s Father was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany 🇩🇪. Just 2 blocks from where I lived. I rode my bike by the apartment he lived in for his entire youth, every single day. In fact, the first time I went to meet my husband’s dad, he was on the phone with some church members I had been working with over there! What a small world! I knew then and there I would marry that man’s boy. And I did. We have been married for 28 years. We married just 4 months after we met. Sounds CRAZY when I say it, but when you know, you know!! I didn’t choose Germany to serve my mission in. I said I would go anywhere in the world. I spoke pretty good Spanish after 6 years of taking it in school. So I assumed I would be sent there by my church. But I was called to Germany. So I learned another language and fell in love with that country. I know God had his hand in sending me there. It had set the seed to meet this half German boy, and not be afraid of the culture differences. God is SO, SO GOOD!! Thanks for the wonderful videos and bringing back so many memories. And your love story is Beautiful, just Beautiful!

Especially love the copper molds and paintings. I would keep the small one in the frame or keep the frame so you can display it both ways as it suits your needs. Tip: when I travel internationally, I purposely take one pair of older shoes I’m ready to replace and some clothing I will soon donate. I donate there near the end of trip and this gives me luggage space for treasures. Shoes are especially good because they’re heavy and bulky. 🤣😉

Andrea ~ Thank you for sharing this trip with us ! I have always wanted to go to Germany and Wales. My Mother’s parents came from there. I have always said my “love” of stones, old wood and cool temps come from my German and Welsh blood running through me. I cried watching the video. 🥰 My heart melted when I saw all the stone buildings, foundations, etc! All the words in German. You made this old lady happy with your filming ….thank you ! I’m so “thankful” that Mike was able to take his beautiful family to his home country and meet family over there. Precious indeed is an understatement, right? God bless ~

Hi Andrea, the little boards are often used to serve a fast meal on--sandwiches, toast, fruit/crackers etc. We have a set from Germany and I use them to serve cinnamon "butterfly" toast for my grand children. There is a little wooden stand and the each hang as a set on the stand. Mine are all the same size, but same premise...

Your three wooden boards are most probably bread boards. Germans often eat their breakfast and supper (bread, meat, cheese, jam) on wooden boards such as these rather than on plates. Quaint!

I’m sure your husband’s family is just elated that he has a such a wonderful wife & 4 adorable boys ! Such a blessing to have been able to make that trip ! I love the things you bought - I would have bought so much more, even if I’d had to throw out the kid’s shoes - lol ! I thought for sure you would have bought a bunch of the copper at 12:39 - you seemed so overjoyed at seeing them - I was thinking they would have looked so cute just displayed in a big jar or even a wooden bowl - I do love the ones you did get ! I went to Monte Carlo one year & we took a train through Italy & got to go to a huge flea market there - I was pretty young at the time & I wasn’t really looking for the same sort of things I would today, but it was fun - I’ve always loved flea markets & have been to a number of European ones, but like I said, I was younger & just had not really developed my style or the love of vintage that I have now - it would be a whole different ball game now - lol ! I’m from New Orleans originally & whenever I go back to visit with my sister, we go to our old favorite thrift stores & at the end of one trip, she took a picture of me in our hotel room sitting on the floor in front of my suitcase, with my glasses on, chin on hand, trying to figure out how in the world to pack all the goodies I had bought - it was quite intense, for sure ! So wonderful that you were gifted that beautiful bread board from Mike’s grandmother - I know one day you have a wonderful, special daughter-in-law to pass it along to who will cherish it, too - the girls your sons marry will have won the mother-in-law lottery - you are such a beautiful woman, inside & out - thanks for sharing your wonderful trip !

(I need to enter a twelve step program for my cutting board addiction.) I love to USE them all,so I give them a light sanding, soak them in bleach for a few minutes ( because the sanding opens the grain) then rub them with mineral oil. (That oil is food safe and doesn’t turn rancid) I then feel comfortable using them for food and the oil helps them maintain their antique look. Your set of three boards would look cute looped together with a piece of twine, then hung on something.

Oh Andrea, such beautiful memories. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. ❤️ As far as the little painting, I think it's absolutely beautiful WITH the frame!! You stated it was actually more silver than gold, so I would use rub & buff to make the frame color work with the artwork. Thru the camera lens as we see them together, it's stunning!! This has been a life long dream for me. I loved the Cotswold villages sooo much & have some thrifting regrets of not purchasing. Your finds are perfect, I vote for keeping the painting in the frame! With your decorating style, the contrast of the frame being ornate will really make it a focal point. I think it's beautiful in your bedroom.

Once again a beautiful video. How wonderful to see the joy Germany gave you. Both of my children spent time in the military there and loved it. Thanks for sharing your great buys there too.

Just loved watching your videos about going to Germany, and about what you found. And, what a sweet story of how you and your now husband, fell in love. God is so good...all the time. ❤ Fun to find you, especially being a fellow Michigander. 🍂

Oh my goodness…. that was such an honor to be entrusted with that beautiful family heirloom breadboard 💕 from the homeland of Germany!! I think the painting and frame belong together.🖼️ My paternal ancestors are from Germany and I was blessed to be given a framed sampler my 3x great grandmother stitched in German of her children’s birth dates. Such an emotional experience to actually hold theses family treasures in our hands isn’t it.💕 My daughter shares your video’s with me. Guess I need to subscribe to your channel.😊 Blessings to you and your family.

I spent a year in Germany and while I was there we visited the, "Crystal Factory", as we called it in Neustadt. The factories name is actually Nachtmann & Spieglau. I brought back so much! 😂 I love watching your thrifting videos and now we have a European version! Yay! Thanks for sharing!
