THRIFT WITH ME! | 3 FLEA MARKETS-1 DAY! | VINTAGE RESELLING
TRIPLE HEADER FLEA MARKET FRENZY! | WHERE DID I SHOP BEST TO RESELL?
Getting to Cincinnati, Ohio with a partially empty van on a weekend means time to pick! Flea markets are the way to go in a strange town if you want bargain on antique and vintage items, so we find three within 45 minutes drive. Which one will give us the best deals?
To get first pick is an early morning exercise, so we tumble out of our makeshift quarters and hit the resellers right when they get there to unload at Peddlers Flea Market. We have to linger while they unload, but our patience is rewarded with a good iron scale, a scarce Manhattan glass bowl and a ViewMaster set…all in the first space! We ponder more fun items, missing out on the old Seeburg booth jukebox but getting a $75 figure for $5 from a newly arrived seller.
After exhausting the possibilities there, it’s north to Monroe, where two massive flea markets sell right across the freeway from each other. Traders World is a touristy place, with wonderful old farm decor, life-sized fiberglass critters and murals depicting life 70 years ago. With all their advertising, most booths are permanent indoor dealers, and we ferret out a great Fenton black amethyst modernist vase and a few other goodies (and even saw Brooke Shields!). But where are the sellers who just set up for the weekend?
Turns out they’re across the freeway! Trader Aisles has two very long aisles, filled with about anything from new to vintage and a few true antiques as well. Enameled Victorian cranberry glass for $5, a scarce blue elf for $7 and the Smallest Bible in the World are a few of the bargain buys along the way. Add a fire extinguisher, afghans and a whole lot more, and my van starts to look comfortably full again by the time we’re done!
Here’s some of the other fun vintage discoveries we ponder in this video:
1910s vacuum cleaner, milk can, pipe vise, Mt. Fuji block print, Florida tray, novelty decanters, steamer trunk, tennis rackets, bait can, jug, concertina, Disney lunchbox, school bell, license plate sets, Lucite & brass table, Viking Georgian compote, Czech bird wall pocket, Brooke Shields doll, 1960s milk glass, heatilator, car spotlight, Tesla fender, Goose taxidermy, pop culture 1980s toys, Pete Rose cards, Jeanette Constellation jar/lid, dog caddy, 1890s tip tray, upside down mirror, souvenir paperweight, Civil War amputation saw, Wedgwood bowl, NCR premiums, Hull horse, Candlewick candlesticks, Weller vase, 1910s owl desk stands, Mexican glass console bowl, 1950s s&p’s, Stenographer’s suite, etc.

I love that deep masculine voice of the Nomad. Chill bumps! Not flirting, very serious. Part of the reason we all love George!

Glad to see you were visiting and shopping in my part of the country. Although I live in Cincinnati, I have never been to the Peddlers Flea Market, but it looked like it would be worth going to. Treasure Aisles has been much better for buyers than Traders Word for many years now. There are lots of vendors who set up with their garage and estate sale stuff and clean-outs at Treasure Aisles, while Traders World has mostly professional dealers selling newer stuff. The only time I go anywhere near Traders World is when I am heading to the casino next door! Thanks for sharing a fun video!

Hi, April! I'm glad you recognized it. You're absolutely right, it was fun for me to discover that and yet I did spend about $40 at the touristy one and got a really cool Fenton piece and other fun stuff so I'm glad to know where to go there
Thank you George for taking me with you. I had fun.

My family had that exact gray typewriter stand. We all took turns typing our papers there over the years. Wish I could go back.

The winner is the level and the square s/p !!! That’s crazy!! I saw something on a table that was not old but looked like a rusted old piece. I had one and put it in the middle of my bird feeder. It looked just like it after it sat in the elements! This is one of the many reasons we appreciate you👍 I’m guessing? You were in a wedding or club band. I’ve been to so many strangers weddings, proms, Military parties because I went with my boyfriends when they played. I married one of em!!

You came to my neck of the woods! The flea markets are always disappointing. Treasures aisle usually does not have all those vendors on the outside. Actually this is the first time I’ve seen outside vendors there. You lucked out! I guess I will have to go check them out again.

Although Canada Geese might be plentiful it's sad when they're hunted. These birds mate for life so when 1 is killed the mate will not find another one.
@timhazeltine3256

It is sad as there is no reason to kill them. Moreover, it is against federal law to possess or purchase migratory waterfowl corpses without the appropriate permits. This applies to taxedermy even if it is old.

It is important to know what birds are and aren't allowed to sell as taxidermy...the majority are not legal to trade. I feel for the Canada geese, they've done well so are now thought of as a nuisance
