Three way switch old school new school

Three way switch old school new school ‪@GrantKeysProperties‬ This is a 3 way switch situation I went through diagnosing. leading to my conclusion that the wires from
New to old school electricians, has been lost in communication. Leading to no way other than crawling and cutting drywall to repair it 100% correctly. I am showing you the process I took to get where I got. For me the best solution to the problem at hand and once again, it’s safe for the daughter and other family’s when I rent it out. I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to check out the end of the video, where I show you the correct wiring diagram. I will also be making a full separate video on the diagram in more detail. Here is a list of the tools I used in this project. I get a small commission because I’m an Amazon affiliate marketer and I would greatly appreciate it if you shop through my links below. Thanks!

Crazy old wiring. The new wiring at the end of the video diagram, is much safer and makes more sense with more options for the future. Great video 👍

It definitely can be! I appreciate that, thank you! Yes, much better if the wires are there!

Btw, I did not need to use the multi meter in this situation. But if I did, it wouldn’t be the 600v setting. It would be the 200vs setting! My bad! Also, there is a correct wiring diagram at the end of this video, so check that out! It’s the last two minutes of the video. 🎉

There is nothing wrong with setting it to 600 volts, that is what I always do. If you set your meter to 600 and the voltage is 120, it's only SLIGHTLY less accurate, but not enough to matter. Also, do you really need to cut holes? You can't get to the box from the attic?

@@justinkase1360 Depends on what you’re trying to do, and yes in my case. The attic is only about 2 foot tall if that.

The problem with field testers is they can easily lie to you. If you put the tester next to a wire, it alarms and your buddie turns that breaker off and the FT stops alarming you probably have that circuit off. Three gang boxes often have more than one circuit in them

You’re not wrong great advice. I did check all the wires with the multi meter before the video. But if you don’t have one, the electrical checker that I used will be just fine. You’ll just want to check every single wire. Thanks for checking in!
