@@TheJanet4321yes there is a lot of murder in the USA, however it's different than Mexico. Police are ambushed and killed regularly throughout Mexico. In one city in Guanajuato, over 20 police have been killed since the beginning of the year. It's the most violent city worldwide of murders per capita, over taking Tijuana as the top city. Throughout Mexico over 70 political candidates have been murdered this election season. That type of violence doesn't happen in the USA. Not anywhere near the same level. We also don't have cartels waging territorial wars against each other on a scale like Mexico and videotaping executions of women and enemy cartel members.
I lost my oldest son to gun violence. The grief of the Australian parents is beyond comprehension. Certainly true of the American's parents as well, but to lose two at once is just beyond the pale.

But it could be they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and the killers were high on meth or something and didn't like gringos. They did find a bag of drugs supposedly on one of the suspects. But it is hard to believe the Mexican authorities, as they're either inept and can't be bothered to properly investigate or are on cartel payroll. Living on the border you hear of a lot more incidents than are reported to the public. Border and near border towns are sensitive to bad press because they depend on tourism as a part of their economy. If you go down in a nice vehicle, especially a truck, with USA state license plates, or are dripping in bling-bling throwing cash around, just remember there are people watching. I stopped going in 2001 when many of my Hispanic friends stopped going. It's just not worth it. "But I feel safer in Mexico than I do in the states.".... that's bullsh*t.
There has to be more than just a 'robbery gone wrong' here. The state authorities are saying that was the reason. But then, why burn the truck they stole from the tourists, then? Doesn't make sense.

Deplorable
That campsite is remote. Their friend drew them a map to get to it. Unless you are armed yourself best not be caught in an area easily where cartel criminels or just killers who get thrill of killing handsome young men. They had a new truck which caught the killers eye. I think they were killed just because killers enjoyed execting them. That mentality doesnt need a reason. Life means nothing to them
Drug deal gone wrong 110% and going to Mexico for a holiday to surf is the silliest thing i have ever heard, what precautions did the young men take. I doubt they would have tried to stop someone taking there tyres at gun point also.. bloody shame tourists should not be able to travel there without providing proper evidence of the actual trip and reasons along with security measures they have in place. Risks are higher in those areas most affected by drug-related and gang violence, including: Major cities along Mexico's border with the United States - Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, Nogales, Piedras Negras and Reynosa Violence and drug cartel activity are on the rise across the State. Gang members are known to erect roadblocks on major highways. Murders, including mass killings, occur regularly. Even as a tourist, you risk getting caught up in violence inadvertently. 2 minutes of homework to find this information and after reading it just y would you.:( condolences to all the family and friends involved

I’m originally from San Diego. We didn’t even want to be *NEAR* Mexico so as soon as I graduated high school, my family and I moved way up north. It’s not perfect, (nowhere is), bet there aren’t any narcos and the waves are better! Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. 😔💐

Insanity smh🤬 Overdue for vindicating lives lost in that country for no reason.
This makes me sad. Poor parents. Their pain i cant imagine. The anger I feel for the suspects for taking their lives. Just by the pictures and their smiles and their love for their parents, i could tell they were good guys. What a waste of their lives. All 3 surfers. RIP. Im sorry for their parents. Breaks my heart
Sad.
Keep our borders open so we can have this in the US as well. Wake America

It is already happening in almost every state
I’ve got a family member that wants to get married to his fiancé down there. He needs to rethink that!! It’s still very dangerous with the Narco violence.
Was anything recorded on their phones?
I can't understand why anyone would travel to Mexico. In the past decade that country has completely rewritten the saga of "The Wild West".
terrible but how could they have not known better??
I grew up going to Mexico as I lived in Southern California. No way will I go now! Especially to that area! Horrible tragedy for these poor families 💔
