Trying for the first time this year! Have a 20x 10 plot with 3 x 5 mounds, surprisingly no issues with deer, birds or rodents yet. It’s going well despite being a little late, corn was sown mid-June but it’s growing well. Seems like a great strategy to grow a ton of food that all will store and can all be fed to chickens (we have a small flock and my thought is the run-off from the run should help fertilize the crop). But lots of great tips I’ll have to add a patch of carrots in!

Really appreciate your vids. Yep - I’m doing three sisters, though slugs have been munching the squash to the point I think it might just be two sisters. Corn and beans are growing well thankfully. Wishing you both all the best. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

Thanks Richard .. We've been fairly lucky with the slug damage (or lack of ) this year, the birds and mice our nemesis !!! I hope your 2 sisters are abundant for you ✌️🌿

Try Painted Mountain maize sweetcorn. It should be well adapted to handle UK climate. It was bred to thrive in high altitude of USA Montana rocky mountains.Really diverse genetic based from many native American strains

Hey J B, i was close to ordering painted mountain from baker creek last year, there was just a few reasons i didnt in the end, one being its a multi coloured variety, which is mad beautiful, but because we grow popcorn, flour and sweetcorn, trying to keep three distinct colours to make cross pollination easier to see, other was it only grows to 4ft'ish people say so wouldnt be so good for beans as the 7-9ft varieties, i was also abit worried about seed from USA being contaminated with gmo! I would get it in a heartbeat other wise as it looks like an amazing variety and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I only seem to be able to get ordinary yellow corn here in France; it's a drag trying to get anything different; like jumbo banana squash!! We live in a beautiful place, in the mountains but seeds restricted to little and Holland. Last year i had to high hopes for corn - and before i knew it ants came and took it over it looked OK but they were there; no one else seems to have had the problem! I planted beans with my corn today oops I will stake them then! Where the hell are you; as you have an English accent but it looks like a tropical place, how did you get there?? One sweet potato that will grow here costs 5 euros -- how do you get is it 'slips' what and how to you propagate them?? I need them as we love to eat them!

We are in the central south of England 🤣 in Hampshire - Dan has a passion for Hardy Tropicals - we've lost a few this year following a hard winter, so hoping it still looks as tropical this year! 🤞 We've not had ants on our corn yet, but it is a bit of a battle with birds, mice and rats some years! We've got a whole playlist on how we grow the Sweet Potatoes - Dan shows in a few vids how we grow slips, i think, but its basically just like chitting potatoes by putting them in moist soil and letting the shoots grow longer than you would normal chits (which we are doing right now) - such an epic crop to grow for yourself 💚 they should LOVE growing where you are ✌️🌿

@@freedomforestlife Yes I am still learning about this climate - ppl around here just grow hot plants - no greens and we like greens - so a question of when can i put these in! Also a problem with pin-shafts of sun just killing things, bits of trees ect; or no sun where they have sprayed the sky from all directions! I will look at your sweet potato vids! Trying to find out about lemon varieties as well - as they will sell anything that maybe may not survive the frosts up here; just 30 mins drive S and you have a much hotter climate. Thanks have a lovely summer - Janice

Have you thinned out the corn plants to one plant in each hole? Or just left 2 to grow together?
