Hi - I visited the same three on my last trip. Fell in love with a ‘56 Martin D28 at Carter’s. Walter is a cool guy. Health warning: you do need to know what you are doing as the values connected with these guitars constitute a life times savings.😃

My favorite part about this video is the reactions to the prices. I was the same way at Carter’s. I think 40% of the guitars I played that day cost more than my car

If a guitar player, I mean a REAL guitar player, can't get a great sound out of a $3,500 PRS or $1,200 Strat or Tele etc. then there's something wrong. I simply don't buy into the "if it's old and costs a zillion dollars it has to sound better" mindset. Same with old amps.

That thing she does on the Gretsch, just thumbing E and A for bass, then the upper string melody is so simple, musical and beautiful. Love that meditative vibe.

"Dueling" is the banjo's "Stairway", I think.

Banjo plays D.B.; guitar playing _Freebird_ .... (better than Stairway to Gilligan's Island...)
I don't even play guitar but I like to listen to Mary Spender talk about them.
Thank you for the tour. Very nice displays.
I've been to Carter's on a couple of occasions when I was in Nashville. It's a great guitar store.
You gotta love it when Mary only has eyes for the mayer amps and entirely misses the Dumble ODS just to the left of them.
Your not only a breath of fresh air, and a beauty, but a wonderful person to listen to
Well Mary, I guess you are officially famous now. I was wearing my Chewsday Tawks shirt this past weekend and a random lady told me “I love Mary Spender!”

Thomas Chumley, nice? What continent? 😉
0:42 You get a shiver in the dark... very nice, keep rockin’ the banjo!
Carters was my favorite! They had the greatest employees and selection!
Your playing really came alive on that old red gretch guitar. Could really feel the emotion pouring out in your playing!
I am in awe of the Sultan's of Swing on the banjo...thanks Mary!!!!
I love all of your videos. I look forward to each one. You are very talented. Thank you.
Im glad you are getting Taking Shape back in the mix of background music. Love that song!
Excellent video, Mary
Vacationed in Nashville a few months before COVID hit. Went to Gruhn and Carter. Rumble Seat was closed :( I found Carter to be absolutely mind blowing.
Mary, every thing you touch is wonderful
Nice! It’s always fun to tour the guitar stores.
Mary you are fan-freaking-tastic. I could listen to you play and sing all day long.
You have such a beautiful warm singing voice! Never heard you sing before till now.
Thanks Mary love this
Hey Mary, I just recently discovered your channel and really enjoy your videos and your music a lot. Keep up the great work! Greetings from Germany!
Love the video, the more classical store layout looked awesome!
Hi Mary, great video, now I have to go Nashville again and check out the vintage guitar stores.
Great video. Carter Vintage is a must when I am in town. Got to get my hands on that Esquire! Keep up the great work, Mary.

Man that drive through makes me really miss it there. Assuming you are still there. You should ask the locals about the jumping cliffs at percy priest lake. It is breathtaking may be good for some inspiration.

was just at Carter's and Gruhns for my birthday. Played a 56 strat at Gruhns. It felt so nice under hand, only $20K. Just missed Eric Johnson in the store by a day or two. I hear EJ was there to do some horse trading.

I live in Austin, yet had never heard of Collings before recently, but one of the guys at a local store placed one of their acoustics in my hands. Literally the best playing acoustic I've noodled on yet, but not exactly inexpensive.
Love this! Tasteful playing and it gave me flashbacks when I was roaming Nashville guitar shops for a new strat. Ended up at Corner Music and bought a G&L Legacy which I LOOOVE ❤️
I'll be in Nashville in 2 weeks, thanks for the video. Can't wait!
I love these types of videos. Please do more . ♥️
amazing thanks for posting
I could see Mary spending a few years in Nashville.
Hi Mary I love when you go to guitar stores and try guitars out. I live a couple of states away from Nashville in Ohio dream of going there one day! I’ve been to the Rock Hall 20+ times you’d love it! Your the greatest! Keep writing and rocking!!!!
Mary you have a lovely touch on a guitar, quite amazing!
starting watching these videos cause of the guitar and gear talk. stayed on because of Mary's charm and love the original pieces that she put on the demos.
My first guitar trip to Nashville, I visited those same three stores in that same order. All three were amazing-the vibe is completely different at all three, and as a newish electric guitar player at the time I felt welcome at all of them. Carter’s-couldn’t believe they let everybody pick up all that stuff; Gruhn was a little more reverent toward the instruments, but still welcoming; and Rumble Seat-man, those guys were just cool as shit-pointing out things and the history behind it all…as much like museum guides as sales people…and more than willing to spend time with someone who they probably knew couldn’t buy anything vintage. It was during the pandemic ‘opening-up phase one’, so maybe all three stores were happy to have folks back in; but they couldn’t have been more generous with their time.

We went to all three a month or two ago. Rumbleseat was definitely the coolest. The people there were awesome. I don't remember the guy's name (It wasn't Eliot) but he took us right in and showed us all of the cool stuff they had. Almost like a curator, instead of a sales guy. We could have spent hours there and they wouldn't have minded a bit. The other two felt like just about any other guitar store I've ever been in. We also went to the Gibson Cafe (?) It was OK. Pretty much what I thought a Gibson factory store to be. The guitars floating around the perimeter of the ceiling on hangers above your head is definitely something to see.
Nice video, Nashville is so much fun! You need to go back for Summer NAMM!!!!
you lucky, lucky girl !! what fun, seems like a great vacation day for me !!
i've visited Gruhn. it's Mecca. when i die, i want to spend eternity at Gruhn Guitars!
The Collings paired nicely with your style. Thanks Mary!
Love that town! Just bought my new favorite guitar from Carter's

My hometown! Thanks for visiting!
I'll be in Nashville next week! thanks for giving me some places to check out.
I miss living close enough to Nashville to day-trip to these shops. (Also, RIP Rock Block Guitars.)
Many thanks for uploading this! Visiting Nashville myself next month, and definitely looking for a few guitar stores to check out; this helps me choose 🎸😎
I've been downtown and watched new guitars get pieced together, but there's just something about that old hardware you can't build into a new piece. Love those "pre-loved" instruments. Welcome to our humble area, hope you enjoyed yourself :)
Got to Carters back in Feb 2020 all the way from Ireland and it just blew my mind.... Nashville was fantastic and can't wait to go back!
Several of Ed King(Lynyrd Skynyrd) guitars are at carters, he frequented their quite a bit. The 1973 Stratocaster he used to write and record Sweet Home Alabama is for sale their as well. Miss Ed, he was an old freind

Little late on my response/comment but just came across your video visiting Nashville guitar stores. I visited Gruhn and Carter's two years ago with my good friend and brother-in-law Bob and spent over 3 hours in each store. Each guitar we picked up was better than the last. So enjoyed our time there and was shelled shocked with the prices on guitars that we could have bought years ago for a couple hundred dollars. If we had only known. Great video and keep up the fantastic work.
Nashville is great! I lived there for a few years. I'm only two hours away now and still go back to instrument shop. So many good shops there.
Love Carter Vintage! So many incredible guitars!!!
Your voice is awesome!
Hi Mary, I discovered you in the video of Sultans of swing with Leo. In fact, I discovered both of you at the same time. I really want to say that you really seem to be a fantastc person. I watched a lot of your vlogs, you really seem to be genuine. I like your laugh, and being a French Canadian, I must say your accent is pretty charming. I'll continue follow you in your adventure, thanks for being Mary Spender xx
Mary you are wonderful in every way....very talented singer song writer.....you light up my life.....Thank You...x
Amazing !
Nashville is by far one of my all time favorite cities. Carter's is my favorite shop out there, with a close second being Fannie's House of Music. If you are a guitar player both places are definitely worth making a pilgrimage to!
Oh Boy .. just hanging out in Nashville .. & all those guitars .. I hope you have a wonder full summer ..
My most expensive guitar was a birthday gift to myself...'93 Gretsch White Falcon 2 ($5500)
You treated that L7 way too nice. They really start to get their voice, when you start to dig into them, like Zack was doing to that guitar at Gruhn's. Good stuff. Nashville is always a great place to be.
Good show; Mary.
I never realized how great your voice is.
Very cool. Every year or so I make sure I make a pilgrimage to Nashville to visit Gruhn Guitars and Carter Vintage (and to Third Man Records too). Glad you got a chance to check them out.
This was fun to watch. I had a visit to Guitar Guitar in Glasgow last week and was kicking myself for not filming anything. I always feel so reserved in shops though, any shops, not just guitar ones. I'd love to have your confidence in asking to film and just going for it.
I pre-ordered a new Gibson ES-235 a week ago, and they moved ES production so it's coming from Nashville. Can't wait! Great vid as usual Mary!
The Gretsch was surprising! ...love that one. ... also been to Gruhn's a couple of times. They always have some mind-blowers.
I enjoyed my visit to gruhns a few years back .nice staff
7:30 Best sounding guitar in the whole place! That thing is gorgeous, and what better way to show off the tonal quality than to have you demo it. They should hire you on as an advertising rep, Mary! Well done!😍😁🎵🎶👍👍
That was really cool. "Sultans of Swing" on a banjo. :) Made my day with that alone.
I love that you looked around while playing the intro to Duelling Banjos, expecting someone to strike you over the head with an old, solid body Les Paul.

I nearly teared up when you played the Gretch! I've been to Carter's a few times! You should do a Nashville meetup next time!
Ur smile is infectious!!!!.......have a great day!!!!
Ok...time to click the damn Subscribe button...Mary...absolutely quality content here...and woman can you sing!
U R Fantastic & So Gifted🙏
That L-7 is amazing!
Rumble Seat Music is incredible! Lots of vintage guitars to drool over
Mary Nicely done, looks like you had a grand time, Jeff in LA USA
The tone on that Gretch!
Oh, I want that Gretsch!!!! Such a great tone!
The banjo, that where i found your (and Leo's)channel. All ready over a year ago. And stil enjoying them both.

Thanks Mary, great vid ;-)
Every time I see one of your videos in my feed it always makes me think jesus, it's already Tuesday.
Cool video - I have always wondered what the vintage guitar stores were like there -but never followed up on it. Nashville would seem to have the right pool of talent, income and need for such expensive and desirable instruments. Thanks!
Welcome to Nashville glad to have such a great person visit us here. That banjo fits you ;-)
Carters is my favorite! The crew there are awsesome too!
That Gibson L7 is right up your alley.
love watching Mary's video , always interesting and I just like hearing that British accent
I love this store videos but we need some light on bass guitars as well :D I love your voice, keep rocking
Nashville is my dream vacation. I'll just have to save up a cool $13k+ because I know I'll fall in love with some old beat up guitar in one of those stores. Thank you for this video, Mary. It was a real treat to see :)
I live about a mile from all 3 of those stores. They're all on the same road. Carter is the coolest of the 3.
Would love to see titles for each of the guitars that you show or are playing. I'm not a guitar person but love watching these visits to stores.
Great look inside this peculiar part of Nashville
I wish I would have known you were in Nashville, would have enjoyed listening to your music. At least I can watch it on your KZread. Great video.
