It's true. When I started to super-set abduction and glute activation drills before squats and deadlifts as a rule, my back problems vanished and my numbers went up.

it could also mean that your form isnt good, which is why you experienced problems. i do my deadlifts in the middle of my workout, but mostly during the end. unlike what some would claim, your nervous system would already be fired and your muscles well trained and ready. if you do deadlifts last, you wont need this warm, only warm up with a deadlift bar and light weights

thanks for this video Loz. I'm getting into lifting, and I understand the main lifts, but its warm ups and accessory work that is so foggy since a lot of channels don't focus on that. I would love another one for warming up for bench/military press. also, cool down videos and also conditioning for each lift would also be excellent videos

Thanks for the info, Loz! These warm-ups, and others like them, have really helped on squat and DL day. Being an old(er) fart, getting the glutes/hips firing even before the light warm-up sets has made so much of a difference. Even after a short time I went from watching one knee start to buckle in on a max DL to having them stay tight and out. What I didn't have were the core activation movements, but they are in my training log now, thanks to this video. I'm glad I don't have Coach H beating the crap out of me while I'm warming up... I don't think I'd be in any shape to lift after being tenderized! Thanks again, Loz. Always appreciate the info and advice.

Now as a personal trainer I always have my clients do clam shells, power pelvic tilts, and glute bridges before any heavy leg work. Has had positive effects on everyone including myself. I love that you include this type of info in your videos Loz, you've given me more tools for my tool kit to try on myself then spread to others.

I think I injured my back by excessive bending at boxing, since then my low back had discomfort that got better with time, now I am doing very light deadlift, if I try to put more work on the back while deadlifting, the discomfort worsen a bit for half a day, the only time I got ill in these last 3 years I was in bed fo 3 days, and my discomfort got better after that rest, I seem to have some disk protrusions in the lower back, and a very small herniation dorsal, I tend to stay sit most of the day, I am now trying to lose the weight I got from inactivity since the injury, walking and lift light weights and use rubber band, will I heal? Will I be able to go back healthy lifting weights? Some doctors were very negative about my condition, that got me really down with lots of negative thinking, slowly getting my hope back

@@SeliasSonne im not sure about RPE. I'm lifted on and off for most of my adult life and have never got past intermediate level. I squat for volume. Anywhere from 225 to 315 lbs for reps between 5 and 15. Deadlift typically 315 for reps of 6 to 8. When I was in my mid twenties I hurt my lower back deadlifting. Couldn't get out of bed for a number of days without pain killers. Pain eventually went away but never been the same. Even get lower back pain from.sitting in the wrong position for too long. I have Good mobility most of the time, but its just when I squat and deadlifting the pain comes. I just enjoy doing them though

Is any muscle/tendon activation needed below the knee, particularly at ankle level? What I find, when I'm lining up to do a deadlift is I'm lifting my heels up pre-lift and balancing on and driving into the ground through the balls of the feet and can't seem to shake this, rather than pushing down through the heels as I'm lifting the bar. I don't know if this is a subconscious fear of falling backwards and balance overcompensation.

If you have no idea how to warm up please do not post videos on KZread where literally tens of thousands of people will take this poor advice and possibly suffer an injury. Folks it’s very simple. 10 minutes of low impact cardio on any type of cardio machine should properly warm you up. Only then should you practice these techniques and then move on to your incremental workout.
