Three Minute mini-lesson by Trent Austin #2: Building your range by Singing in all registers

Музыка

I am excited to start a new series here on YT as a way to give back a bit more to all of our subscribers and loyal fans of the shop.
Today I am talking about taking simple melodies and transposing them higher and higher to work on the singing quality of your range!
We all want to work on our range and especially in the high register! Right? Who doesn't want to play more high notes on the trumpet?
I hope you enjoy these videos and we will always elaborate on these topics in a live session shortly.
If there's anything you'd like me to discuss please let us know via info@austincustombrass.com .
Please take a moment to subscribe to our channel!

If it only was that easy! But we can arrive to make it easier for sure! One day at a time.

This is absolutely fantastic. This answers my questions about that comment from Maynard in that clinic. This is literally the gate key to extreme upper register control. I have been trying this with Maria (because it really is one of the best pieces to do this on, the other being Danny Boy) and I noticed that I was using considerably less pressure and had more control in the upper - extreme upper register. My tone also sounds more compact, as opposed to the 70's style power playing I am used to.

Hi Trent, When you were a young trumpet player how fast did you discover your range? Would you reach a new note every month, or was there a time where you discovered a full octave or had a "ah ha" moment in your range development?

Hi Trent... thanks for this mini tips... how do you use your air? You make it less as you play in the upper register?

You just visualize it when you play?

I think more about the tracking of the air (it will be discussed in another video like this maybe in a week or so).
