Thanks for pointing me to your video. I took cuttings in the Fall and rooted them in cups in my basement over winter, put a sandwich bag over each cup and clipped it on fir humidity and had a heat mat under them and grow lights. To my surprise they all grew! This summer I am trying the air layering, hope I have success. I scraped the branch but I didn't cut the bark.

That’s awesome! Yeah I go dormant myself in the winter and relax lol. The basement on bottom heat sounds like a great idea because they like to root when the bottom is warmer than the air above. Air layering is a good solid bet. They always seem to root. Sometimes I will bend a branch down to the ground, place a brick on to hold it down and cover with woodchips or soil. Seems to work better because of consistent moisture in the ground.

I thought I would be the only one who makes mistakes, but I am proven wrong.

Try opening up the center a bit to avoid the shading and you will bump up your harvest numbers.

Thank you for that. I kind of thought the same thing as I was saying it. I just know that keeping the root zone warmer than the surface temps encourages root growth. In the full shade and somewhat damp, even in August, the surface temps were way warmer than the soil so I drew that conclusion. I am learning out loud here so I really appreciate the thought and comment!

I have a question about my fig branches. I tried propagating them back in June after watching a different video. It didn’t go well. Let me know if you can give me some advice.. TY

Less water! The branches have no roots yet so watering them will cause rot and quickly. You want really good draining medium or else they turn black and never root.
