I learned driving on First gen swift at driving school and I loved the precise handling characteristics of that car . The car had a soul which modern cars don't have.

I had the 2nd generation VDi & I had the most fun driving that car. My last drive before selling it was after watching Ford vs Ferrari & it was the best send-off ride. I do miss driving it especially a hatch after buying a sedan. Swift will always be a special car!

I have a second generation swift... Which is very fun to drive.. But believe me the old one was terrfic.. It was so chuckale and very sharp.. The agilty of this car was insane.. It was a rare mass-market car which was also fun to drive.. 😍

I am having swift vxi {first generation } and believe me it was best hatch ever made in its performance everything, even today when i drive it gives same feeling and i have also booked for new swift 2018 zxi+!!!

I own a 2015 Swift ZDI and I believe it is one of the best economical diesel engines we ever had. In highway's if you drive between 80 - 100 Km speed it can easily give up to 22KM consistent mileage at all times I have checked it. As it is the ZDI model it has most of the feature comforts that matches with the trends even in 2020. It has 185/65 R15 Alloys with Yokohoma Earth 1 tires now . Ride quality and handling are very good. I would say it matches or exceeds many of the nowadays entry level SUVS and I feel no need for an upgrade. It's such a pleasure to drive and maintain all you have to do is below periodic maintenances without fail. 1)Engine Oil Change + Oil Filter & Gasket at 10K (I am using Castrol Edge 5W40 Fully Synthetic ACEA C3 grade oil and it can easily last up to 15K. ACEA C3 oils are very less in soot, sludge and deposits on valves ,pistons and EGR) 2)Air filter 10K (Maruti says 20K) 3.)Coolant flush and change every 30K or two years once. Use only good quality OAT coolant with excellent Antifreeze additives. Use an exact 50/50 mix with distilled water. Castrol Radicool with OAT printed on the can with details of Antifreeze temps is a good economic choice. 4.)AC cabin air filter 10K or 20K depending on the conditions you drive. 5.)Check Brake every 10K just to be on the safer side. Generally up to 80K with normal careful driving it won't give any issue. 6.)Maintain correct tire pressure , tire rotation along with wheel alignment. 7.)Wiper blades replace every year and ensure wiper fluid MGP windshield wash is filled. That's all I can think of regular maintenances. Nowadays I perform most of these DIY and it runs absolutely smooth even better than a petrol engine with excellent fuel economy. I use only Shell diesel and my engine is super smooth with no vibrations or knocking. Overall I am very happy with my choice . In 2015 I selected Swift over Duster and I don't regret it now. Apart from this I have done Inter Cooler cleaning DIY at 65K and it had only very little oil in it ,which means the turbo is working absolutely fine. Have never done EGR valve cleaning may be because I am only using good fuel and oil. Have replaced Diesel filter at 40K & 80K Replaced tires with Yokohoma Earth 1 at 50K After 5 Years usage with the factory Amaron white DIN50DLMF ,exchanged for Amaron HiLife Flow AAM-FL-550114042 DIN50 with 30 Months + 25 Months. The old battery never showed any problems but I just replaced it as preventive maintenance. That's all about my Swift 2015 ZDI still going strong 👍🏻

@@shubhamsoni3298 Yes 185/65 R15 on Swift gives you best ride & handling. 165/80R14 may tend to give slightly better mileage. I have an ZDI and it came 185/65 R15 factory and I love the ride & handling which I think is the best for any hatch back on Indian roads. I am getting 18 - 22KMPL consistent for last 6 Years now.

I have 1st generation swift 2008 model and i love my car.

my father had 2gen swift zxi it was a wonderfull car.For 12 years my father used it but unfortunetly my dad has to sell it in 2022 and we really miss him

2nd generation looks much better n sportier then the 3rd generation

Yes!!. People are speaking about First Gen. But Real beauty is second generation. Perfect in all way. First gen front look is not perfect.

First generation swift was too good 💯💯

The first gen was gem and it still goes on higher side when you see it in used car market .. the new swift could have gotten the same 1.3 like first gen I think it would have replaced polo altogether. But I still would enjoy torque converter gt-tsi than new grn swift. Wait even the first gen had electric steering not the hydraulic.

Second generation is awesome

It's been 3 Years since I've owned mine in August 2017. VDi in Pearl Arctic White with Black Wrapped Roof and 14" Alloys. Recently clocked 57200 KMS with Regular Services. Still a great handling machine. Only complaint are the 14" Wheels

Still love my first gen swift.

I drove a 2 gen Swift Zxi for 4 years and then sold it. Did some long, long trips in it. Mumbai to Coorg, Dandeli, Chikmagalur. What fun it was on the twisties. Now buying it back by a stroke of luck within 5 months paying a premium over what I sold it for, but happy to get my car back and looking forward to driving it again for years.

ARJUN NAIR Bro, we had the first gen Swift so I have a fair bit experience with it. Its steering was surely much heavier than the current gen Marutis,but it wasn't HPS IIRC. Secondly, before challenging a reputed Anchor like Sirish Sir, you can expect me to do a fair bit of homework. Just before typing this comment, I referred to the Brochure of the first Gen Swift: It clearly says: "Advanced P-EPS steering". :) If you wish,I can share a pic somewhere. I have driven 1st gen and 2nd generation both. But 2nd generation is much more fun as compared to 1st and same in case of dzire

And I still love my swift

Now i have my father's 2003 Zen and finally my uncle allows me to drive his 2nd Gen LDi Swift for daily commute. I crave for some new car but that Swift is soooo fun and raw while Zen is becoming more of a collectible piece.

yes, in international markets, the sedan version of the swift was the same car that was launched in india as the esteem. there was no Dzire for them, The esteem was the swift sedan.

I am having Swift vxi {first generation } and believe me it was best hatch ever made in its performance. I enjoy driving my Swift. After Maruti 8OO, Alto and WagonR this has been the largest selling car in INDIA. The Swift which i have was earlier my mama's. He bought the new Vitara Brezza ZDI+ . I asked him to give my this car( Swift) so he gave it to me on 4-10-2016. There are no words to say that what a car it is technology wise Swift is a very good car. When it was launched in 2005 the red color was very much in demand. I have it in white color. This car has made people forgot about Hyundai i10, Santro etc. Nobody buys these car. If you see on the roads 1 or 2 or even 3 swifts you will get to see.

Really nice review. Swift is the best car for enthusiastic drivers.
