Three Collectable Cartiers to Buy Before They Become Unobtainable

Ойын-сауық

Revolution Curates is a special series where we pick watches which we think are horologically significant and incredibly cool, and offer them for sale to the community. In this first video, Wei and Jeremiah introduce three collectable pieces from the master of shaped watches and a brand close to their hearts, Cartier.

Awesome guys. I would add the wsta0059 and wsta0062 especially (one shot). In 2-3 yrs from today people will wonder why not more have paid attention to their solar movements and so simple watches to purchase (3k) and to obtain (relatively)… at least in comparison to a crash. Love Cartier. My new Patek/ Rolex substitute / what Patek was 5 yrs ago o and even better and imo more meaningful to the collecting space. Getting a Crash made too… I’ll dm you once it’s done, it’ll be probably the 2nd most important crash after yours. ;-) or first? We’ll see then. See you soon!

What’s interesting to me is the change to the 4 o’clock mark from the traditional watch/clockmaker ‘IIII’ to the more modern ‘IV’ on the Cintrée. Why?

The Tortue is by far my favorite case shape. FP Journe still uses it on the Elegante and Vagabondage's (when they make them). I'd love to find another watch that uses this case shape that may be more affordable if anyone knows of one.

You can look for tonneau shaped watches. You’ll find models that come close like the Longines Evidenza or a Franck Muller (not that I would recommend any of those)

Great vid as always! However the recent Cartier craze is bought by the fact people are running out of stuff to buy and hype. Being a watch collector for nearly 30 years, my observations is NEVER buy a new Cartier and is a watch brand more reserved for women as the mens range although they are beautiful they are a bit in between their market. There were too "cheap" for a serious collectors and too boring for normal collectors where people will geared towards Patek, VC and AP for "dress watch" as they are more aspirational. Another issue with Cartier is the fact that they simply made too many models with too many variations, is like Omega people love it but serious collectors will only collect particular models (e.g. Speedy) but a sparse range. Is not until you have well known dealers like Eric Ku and Goldberger who had vested interest to hype up the brands so they can make money out of them. Dial back at their Insta and vids, have you seen any Cartier from them? We are going through a very bad recession and someone needs to pay for COVID, I personally think the last thing to do is invest in watches.
