In this video I demonstrate three animation tips in Reallusion's Cartoon Animator 5 that are not immediately apparent from all the training materials and manual including:
• How to Move Bones Independently.
• How the 2D Motion Key Editor Reset button works.
• How to create custom motions without using Collect Clip.

As always, very useful ❤. One of the things I recently discovered was how you can save complete sets of facial sprites (eyes, mouths ...) and use them to mash up new characters.

Thanks. Yes, that's a good suggestion. A lot of people, if they don't dig into the Composer, don't realize just how much you can mix and match facial sprites.

Great tutorial. Helped me a lot. Thank you. I wonder if there is a way to create a "custom transform clip". Example: I move an object from point A to B and then to C. Then would I be able to copy this movement progression in timeline and paste it in the sequence make the object continue to move constantly in one direction?

Glad you found the information useful. With your question you could probably just create a path for the object using the path tool. Easier than pasting a bunch of key frames, and paths can be edited and saved easily as well.

What's the difference between transform and motion?

Transform is when you change the physical size and shape of an object. A motion is when you actually animate an object using Key frames.

Hi, I like your solutions that you adopt for Cartoon Animator, question: is there a way to insert a project (CA5) inside another CA5 project? Let me explain better: I am working on 2 projects with the same characters, the 2 scenes, one for each of the two projects, are different. I would like to change the characters to make different videos each time, leaving backgrounds and settings always the same. As far as I know about CA5, if you want to change a character you can do it but every time you have to do it for each of your projects. I would like to do it only once for the 2 projects, without doing it twice. Keep in mind that I have simplified it because my projects are 4. Can I make the 4 projects a single project and change my main character only once? Thank you

each scene lasts a few seconds from 3 to 8 seconds, but since they are different scenes I made them on different projects. I intended to work on a single project but the amount of props is considerable.

Unfortunately there isn't any way to import one project inside another. You can import multiple scenes into a project by converting the initial scene in your project to props, then adding a new scene (which you'll probably need to reposition so it doesn't overlap your existing props). You can then convert that scene to props, and add a new scene and so on. You could probably save all the character animation from each project as performance motions (which saves all the body, face and even character voice in the one perform motion file for each character) and bring that over into one project that way. However I would recommend not combining projects, unless you have a particularly powerful set up, because once you start overloading the stage with content you will experience performance issues with CTA, possibly even crashes.

@@animlife Hi, very comprehensive answer, thanks. Finally some useful information. On the reallusion forum (CA5) I wasn't able to get any answers. As far as I can see, the forum doesn't work very well. Basically my goal is to create a 3 minute cartoon. Once this is done I would like to have the possibility to change the characters only once for the entire 3 minute project. I would like to make several versions of the same video/cartoon, each time changing the characters and leaving only the backgrounds and props. There are approximately 40 projects in this video (40 scenes). Changing characters for 40 scenes is too laborious. You've clarified my ideas, so I'll change my focus and I'll try (if possible?) to simplify my video or find a solution that I can't see at the moment. Thanks again, I follow your channel with great pleasure. In the meantime, if you have any ideas regarding my question, they are welcome.

@@francorotondi896Thanks. Reallusion has tried to get it's forum going but most CTA users either don't know it exists or experience very little interaction. If you have FaceBook the 'Cartoon Animator Users' Group. Very good place to get questions answered and frequented by Reallusion Employees too. As far as what you're trying to do, depending upon how much interaction your characters have with the background, You could export just the backgrounds as clips that you assemble in your video editor. And then have a file that contains just the characters and any props they interact with that you could export as a transparent MOV video file from CTA that you then combine with the backgrounds in your video editor. Just an idea. 3 minutes of character animation is very doable in CTA if you don't have an overload of props dragging your system performance down.

@@animlife Great, I know it's possible to do a transparent export, I hadn't thought of that. Regarding Forum Reallusion and Facebook, thank you for the information. I'm going to watch the video where they explain how to export to transparent MOV. Great idea.
