Frankly, it is impossible to "avoid the West" in the current world. My humble suggestion: learn to negotiate with the West on your own terms. Make them understand that they can't do whatever they want and that only fair trade will be allowed.

Is he correct that other countries are discussing entry to the AES? Which ones? Maybe Guinea or Chad? I know some other countries in the region have made supportive statements but it doesn't sound like most of them are in a position to make such a drastic change. Would be amazing to see, so long as the alliance keeps its integrity.

Guinea and Chad still have very strong western ties. Integrity of the coloaiton is what matters like you said. We don't have many Pan African nations within Africa but the AES is the blueprint and hopefully as they grow and develop more African countries can break their chains and wake-up.
