What a mess this year has been 😢

What a nightmare. A major hurricane hitting the Houston area- during one of the worst pandemics in recent history and during an economic recession to top it off with so many already struggling. 2020 is full of surprises... Concerned about the elderly and those in the ICU of hospitals in TX and Louisiana on ventilators. Hope everyone in the path evacuates safely.

When hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, in many hospitals, every last patient in the ICUs died because the power went out and stayed out for so long. I fear that same thing may happen on the mainland. The only difference is that PR didn't get the aid it needed, since the Trump administration refused to send the adequate amount of aid, but the gulf coast states will likely be treated better than PR was.

@Ty B That's true. At the levels of unemployment we're seeing and the reduction in economic activity we've seen and will see in the coming years, It would be more accurate to say that we're in a depression, not a recession.

Zekhar Yahuah yup, that night was scary, the lightning was a show, it seemed like the sky was raging! I didn’t sleep the whole night and in the morning I saw a Grey cloud coming from the mountains that’s when I knew it was really bad! I believe it it in fact the end of times just as David said! Ty B yeah, hurricanes can cause very damaging fires, downed power lines can cause the fire to start and the strong winds and fuel to the fire and helps it spread, happened in Galveston during Hurricane Rita in 2008

Tiffney on ABC channel 13 was showing the evacuation zones from the cost inland. That sounds great in theory. Remember hurricane Rita with the traffic jam from Houston to Dallas, Texas! When an evacuation order was given in zone one or two people 40 miles inland around Humble, Kingwood and The Woodlands loaded up their cars and headed north on I-45. It was in effect 'run for your lives' as the gas stations were sold out of gas. The people in zone 1,2 & 3 could not get even up to Houston for all the other people 40 miles North jamming up the freeways. This was on a Wednesday and Thursday. We had boarded up and drove around on Friday to find all the streets empty. We stopped at one restaurant. The manager said he was out of just about everything but we could order what he had. A relative called us about 1:30PM on Friday and said they drove 10 hours and only got to Dallas. I ask them why did they leave? They lived 60 miles North of Houston. She said a friend of hers told her the dam on lake Houston could break and she did want to die at home ! My point is the evacuation zones don't work. When panic sets in people panic.

Please give news about our senior citizens, senior assisted living and etc. Who are helping them especially if they’re on any medical device. This hurricane is terrifying.

Just buy a submarine so you always have shelter when a storm comes

2020 is a beast!

I lived in Florida for 25 yrs. On the west coast. The nightmare was the traffic on the roads if you had to leave. We just stayed and rode a couple of them out. We lived in the SW part of Florida. Down to Naples. You could sit in traffic for 2 days, unless you left at least 5 or 6 days ahead of time. Thank God we moved to Ohio. I never want to go back.

Hold your loved ones close. If you think this will all just go away in 21 or 22, well, I wish I shared in your optimism. This storm obviously won’t last forever but this storm may never end.

The weather program I use shows it with 160 mph wind gusts tomorrow night making landfall a little east of houston.

I was considering moving to a city outside Houston and working in Houston I go there all the time to visit friends and for cruises but I may have to live far enough inland like Missouri City. Praying 🙏 for everyone in the area’s the storm is supposed to go. Hard to see this pain and destruction.

Chicago and New York has vacancies, lovely compassionate people have been removing fellow citizens in boxes by the dozens day in and day out while businesses have been leaving from "peaceful protesters" Should be able to put down some roots for a minute in one of those beautiful diversity driven liberal havens of heaven while the storms blow over.
