To the German in Venice, all I can say is ‘Scheiße’! I used to work for the Union Pacific back in the mid 2000’s at their Los Angeles Transportation Center (LATC) which is right next to the main UPS terminal in LA were this train was either heading to or leaving from and it was never this bad and I’ve driven this road hundreds of times to get to some of their communications sites. They did have on going theft problems at one of their small yards several miles east of LATC but not on this scale, this is truly apocalyptic but not really surprising for LA anymore, glad I’m out!

@@kenomouse5494 Not really, the railroad is responsible for securing on it own property, but because the railroads consist of long thin strips of property stretched across the country which are notoriously hard to patrol the Federal government gave them the authority to have their own police forces even though they are a private company. Some have proposed that the railroad should contract with local police and sheriff departments but that would involve having to co-ordinate with thousands of both small and large agencies for the larger railroads like the UP and BNSF which have a presence in twenty to thirty states and this would be a real nightmare. The problem with UP, BNSF (whom I have both worked for) and the other large railroads is the institution of Precision Railroading which was introduced by Hunter Harrison the former president of the CSX Railroad which is a process that seeks to stream line operations by getting rid of unnecessary facilities and employees in an effort to increase revenues and supposedly improve customer service which unfortunately it hasn’t, it’s just angered both long term employees who’ve been let go and delayed customer shipments, but at least some of the company officials have gotten some nice bonus’s for being so clever. What really screwed UP in this part of LA is their dumbass idea to centralize their police force at their West Colton yard which is about 40 miles east of LA so any officer responding to a call has got at least an hours drive before he or she gets to the LA yards. Prior to this brilliant idea and back when I worked for them they had a large police building at the very yard these tracks lead to so response times were fast. So UP shot themselves in their own foot in this instance which was not uncommon for them. Besides, Pete’s got a new born to care for, he doesn’t have time to deal with national issues.

And my apologies for the jab at Pete B - as I mentioned, I really don't understand and appreciate all the 'moving parts' that established, monitor, guide and protect the rail lines industry. From the answer you provided however, imho, there's a lot of history to be learned, respected and protected. I do enjoy learning the (true/accurate and unadulterated) history of what things happened to make them what they are today. And in all due respect to our public safety entities, they should NOT be encumbered with policing these types of disasters; they've got enough to contend with in their daily professional lives with dwindling resources and political, and occasional diminished community support. Thank-you again for your answer and time in providing this information! I will enjoy learning more. And, btw, I just saw an interview with Victor Davis Hanson posted, just within the last few hours, as he discusses this very same, shameful situation with looting of containers, amongst other areas of failing policies and the ppl behind them. So disrespectful and disgusting.😡 Best regards to you and yours! 🙏🗽🇺🇸🙏🗽🇺🇸

The family portrait made me sad and damn angry, which was simply stolen from a christmas package and is now in the trash.

They had bolt cutters and as the train was actually moving they were tossing boxes of stuff off the moving train. Totally crazy.. So this has been going on for many months.

@Shadow11 hmn, let's see, free welfare, open borders, all the good shit is here, very lenient laws on migrants. democrats always vote in piece of shit politicians who only get voted in because they say all the right things while doing the exact opposite, therefore fucking it up for everyone, but what do these people do when it's time to vote again? they vote for the same fucking morons who caused this to happen in the first place because of free shit and pandering. if you ask me, they deserve each other, but the problem is they fuck up the rest of the country when they do this, so everyone gets shit in their face eventually as shit rolls downhill from democratic strongholds.

It's the Democrat Party in general. It's especially the fact that ONE party has had a near-monopoly grip on power in many of these jurisdictions (for a decade or more), such that, ALL of the elected and appointed enforcement and judicial officials have been put there by ONE party. ....And this party is utterly hostile to the productive elements of society and the middle class in general. Don't believe me? Go and look around the country, and see WHERE stuff like this is happening. Where the two party system is still effectively functioning (and some judicial officials haven't been emplaced to the Democrat party, and the opposition still has some real power), this is not happening.

Cinching a belt about four to ten feet from the base of the trunk helps keep rodents and other wildlife from making a home at the top. The apparatus also discourages domestic animals from reaching new heights. “My cat used the tree as a ladder to get on my roof,” says David Bleistein, president of the Palm Society of Southern California, who installed a metal band to thwart the climbing. “I was afraid a hawk would get her. In the end, a coyote did.”
