Such a good question! I think about it pretty logically: if a friend has betrayed me beyond repair, I've seen who they really are....so how can I miss something that was never real, that never existed? I don't attach myself to people because I can't control others. It keeps me sane and happy, but I had to learn to do this the hard way. Love you, keep smiling, there are billions of people on this earth! ♥

What hurts the most is people that cut you off in their life when you still truly cared about them, but they begin to turn on you and turn and twist everything you say to suit their agenda. I'm a genuine person, always making effort, if I hurt someone directly or indirectly, I said I'm sorry, I'm always valuing the other person and the friendship but we have people that think in black and white and some people will either love you or hate you, there is no inbetween , these are the people that if you ever have an issue with them, they abandon you.

Really great points made, but when I think about the relationships that I have "fought" for, none of them exist anymore. I prolonged the inevitable. If there is a mutual desire between 2 people to make things work, there will be no fighting =)

Friendship is no different than a membership at Costco. Their are rules and regulations members or friends have to follow, if people break the rules of a contract like at Costco, Costco has the right to break that contract with that person. Same goes for friends, Nur thank you for this video, it is always nice to watch your videos.

Thanks for reminding me to 'move the trash'... although i wouldn't always call the ex trash per se, it's reminded me that i need to make room for new and better things and i cannot do that if i'm always going back to read the last chapter in my book instead of turning the page to begin the next (however great that chapter was at the time). It took me at least 4 months to get over him and then an additional few months to move past the situation and all the resentment and bitterness that i still had towards the circumstances even though i was actually over him. I could write forever on this topic, but in short, thanks for the reminder to move him out of the way and stop bothering to talk to him and 'stay friends'.... and allowing him to want to be friends one minute (and getting pissed when i don't bother) and then not wanting anything to do with me when i do bother to be 'friends' to acquiesce to his wishes.... He had me running in circles and then getting angry at myself for making the same mistake in thinking it would be different... Time to breathe some new air!! Thanks!

Such a touchy subject, but I would say yes. I forgive more for family and trust more for family and I am fortunate to have family that I love, but I have seen and heard of situations where family can really bring people down. I'd say, just make sure it isn't teenage rebellion. 10 years ago family dynamics were very different with everyone being so young. Now, we're not perfect, but there is a mutual respect amongst us all. Another tough topic!

Wow, Nur. This video is not only amazing advice, but corresponds directly to the situation I am going through with a friend. I have long felt annoyed and overwhelmed by needs of me, and while I tried to make my expectations clear, she never let up in terms of her demands. For the past two years I have wanted to do what I finally had the guts to do yesterday - tell her that I need space and that I feel too many obligations within the friendship. Today I finally feel free and happy. Thanks again!

I tell my daughters constantly about the "desperation syndrome" it's really sad to see someone trying to hold on with bleeding fingertips to something that just isn't meant to be.We've all been there that's why it's so important to learn from our mistakes and move on to people that are more suited to who we want to be as a person. Thanks so much for sharing

The vid touches on TOXIC friendships/relationships, its hard to stand idly by when someone you know so well continues to repeat the same pattern(s), trip, fall even bleed, and see no change. Thank God my friend is out of that funk, and more thankful that she's still here. I'm so very sorry for your sorrow and unanswered what if's.

But you made me realize one thing, I wasnt putting out the best energy and Im assuming thats why I have gotten screwed over by so many of my so called friends lately. But like you said, we can always look at ourselves and change what we want to. Cant dwell on the past or the bad negative things, just got to move on, appreciate what I do have, my hubby and my family and be happy. Lesson learned.

I feel like I often fall into the situation where certain friends don't respect me. I mean I have one, who always looks to me as a last resort, but always asks for favours from me. When she does she's the nicest person ever. But then when I text her to hang out, or even to invite her to my birthday dinner(!!), I never get a reply.I realised she doesnt even want me as a friend at that point and was just using me. I do like spending time with her but as I said, I always feel like she clearly thinks she's better than me in some way. (Skinnier, prettier... whatever.) I know I have to cut her off to gain some form of self-respect back, but what do I do when I run into her (we are part of the same group). I definitely don't want to talk to her again and pretend like we're still friends, but I don't want to sit on my phone or shyly disappear either because why should I. I'm trying not to feel bitter, because I know people who act like this have shit come to them in other ways, so its fine. :) Do you have any tips to set the vibe of how you want others to treat you? (btw, people say I'm really kind hearted but I'm sick of people taking advantage of it.) I know you're probably not going to see this Nur, but if anyone else does I'd love to hear someone elses input.

Firstly, portray confidence through your body language. When you see someone making a bad remark or is shedding negativity towards you, bluntly ignore them or don't give them recognition. Show them that they can't treat you like dirt. Secondly, ask people for favours, if you are an important person in their life, they will do the favour, just like you have in the past. Moreover, don't let people take advantage of you, when you don't want to do something, learn to say "no". And if someone starts distancing themselves from you for this reason, then you know you were just as a tool in their life, so their not worth it. Make them realise that when they take kindness for granted, and they treat you like you're worthless (When you're not) What the consequences of that really are. Start making new friends as well, show that other people really like hanging out with you. I love how forgiving and sweet you are, I mean you're the least who deserves negativity in their life; I know what it's like when people take advantage of you. Just hang in there, never become bitter; just become independent, uber confident and love yourself no matter what. You're beautiful, i'm telling you! As for how to react to your friend, give her a vibe that something's off, you're uphappy with her about something, and later just give her hints when conversing "I really hate it when people take advantage of the kindness their given, people don't realise it really hurts; and sometimes I feel like I fit into that." Be honest with her without targeting her, just let her do the thinking. Hopefully her attitude will change. Okay, long reply sorry I could have condensed it, and I made some mistakes; but I hope some of this stuff will work when put into action. Goodluck! :)

I am the same, back then, but I have been weaving out toxic ones and meeting new ones. There are genuine people out there that cares about you as a person and are interesting individuals to know. They have taught me a lot about myself and about life experiences. Also do not have high expectations for others you will be disappointed. If they don't value your friendship, you do not need them.

Most "friends" only care about their own self-interest at the day, no matter how nice or understanding they may seem at first-that's something I learned the hard way.
