I feel like the map should have a visible class divide. It'd be quite interesting to see a slums-like build.

Yes already planning a couple of favella style low income areas for the bases of the mountains! Definitely needs an obviously class divide for sure!

@@fewcandy you will want those close the coast, in warm tropical climate islands, the wealthy live up in mountains away from the infested mosquitos and make use of the good views.
For the train lines you may be able to use tmpe lane connectors to make it so they can’t switch lanes
@saethone
Жыл бұрын
You can, and there's a mod called something like "hide unconnected tracks" or something so they wont have the visible crisscrossing tracks as well
I know I've said it before, but your eye for detail is so absurdly incredible! I love your builds, they're just amazing. Can't wait to see this build keep fleshing out.
@fewcandy

Aww thank you so much!
Great video! For keeping internal and intercity trains separate, you can also use the lane restrictions in TMPE to stop trains from changing tracks at junctions - that might be a neater solution than playing around with the speeds on the internal lines. You can also use the ban vehicles mode to ban freight trains from your passenger lines and vice versa!
@fewcandy
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Seph! I couldn't seem to get the lane connectors working but will give it ago, banning vehicles is also a great shout! 😄
It looks like you've let lots of sand in that beach. That may prove fortunate, since there's a nice functional beach asset (a park) in the workshop that requires lots of sand and shallow water. You may, of course, decide to make your own beach park, in which case I'm sure it may prove quite popular. :)

Loved the fiddling with the node with the crossing train tracks. Great start with all the transport options.
Good planing is everything and one of the most difficult things in really developing a city to it's future. I always struggle with how to lay out the road network and end up with traffic problems. This was a good help on how to think more on a bigger picture. Lovely as always!

Love the angled parking on the street
this was a very satisfying prep, can't wait to see all the transport in real action 💗 loving the vibes and the music to go with it 💗
Your attention to realistic details (various plants & different ground textures in the same area, overflowing rubbish bins, etc.) was rather stunning to watch!
@fewcandy

Thank you! ☺️
The benefit of switches on those crossing nodes is, even if you work around it in simulation, the practicality IRL of being able to use local rails or intercity rails in emergency situations is useful, and one of the best reasons for standardizing track sizes.
@user-ib9pz6id5b

Yes, but combining that with road crossing is not quite realistic as it would make the crossover so much more complex
@herebejamz

Complexity isn't an inherently bad thing. And considerations for space and land usage often add complexity to a project.

Always a joy to watch each of your episodes! I love the little row of shops next to the bus station. Looks adorable and fills up the space nicely. The transport frame also makes me excited for the town build due to the awkward and unique spaces you created! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Feels like a weekend getaway
I love the elevated road with it’s sweeping curve.
Amazing build! I suddenly miss building on a tropical theme map! I’ve been working on my desert city since 2019. I would want to see 1. A nice beach front district with shops and bars 2. Hiking trails / park to the mountain 3. Slums and shiny luxurious villas 4. Excited with the island tour packages your city can offer 5. Maybe a tribal village where the indigenous people in that area live. Sadly, most of tropical countries with amazing beaches has this darker side where big corporations grabs tribal lands for the sake of profit and real estate. I think it’s always true for most countries.

Lovely ideas, thank you so much! You'll get a beach front in the next ep! But can see us incorporating all of those, thank you!
Lovely prepping build! I do love to see the thought process behind developments, really helpful to be able to do the same in my cuilds. LOVE the music you're choosing for this series, well done! Happy I could be here at this time too, benefit of spring break!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

It's the transit network for Solitude, I love it.
Great prep work and learned loads about planning for future transit options. Thanks FewC 😻
You could do an elevated roundabout, and change the flyover to go under. This would allow train underpass as well.
@fewcandy
Жыл бұрын
I originally considered this but with the flyover already coming in at a raised height it looked slightly odd, but for sure would help the trains!
To get rid of unwanted rail tracks crossings in those node when 2 rail tracks crossing road through 1 node, use tmpe and directly draw directions which train track you want to go in which direction (it's the same technique, when you create, for example, dedicated lane to turn left/right on road crossing or sliplane on highway).
The amount of detail is amazing! Keep up the great work FewC!!
Move it, node controller and intersection marking tool should be in vanilla city skylines 2. I feel the game is unplayable without them now
Great video, watching the planning process, and then watching those plans come to life was such a joy.
Lovely build Few. So pleasing to the eye!
Great episode. I think you'll need an under/overpass between the station and the bus terminal.

absolutely love the vibe of this new city!
The way you picked that building to sit by the train station - never would have thought of it, but damn does it fit so nicely! I've seen that very same look in real life here, particularly at less "urban" train stations. Very nice! Great episode here FewC, cool to see your thoughts on thinking ahead and building for expansion. Looking forward to the beach town centre!

Good call setting up all the transit groundwork before any major builds. My Ideas for potential Solitude builds... A cruise port with a nearby beach resort area. I would like to see a build using the sea fortress asset from the parklife DLC. I would call it the Fortress of Solitude. At that point it would be fitting to name a peep Clark Kent Perhaps a space port could be built on the island at the top left of the map. And my last idea for today is maybe building a naval military base. I want to remind you about your notebook notes. Brad should be getting his neighborhood soon. David gets to franchise his glass factory. And I get a minigolf course.

I learn a lot from your builds about the various tools you use for nodes and traffic manager. Wonderful that we now have this beachfront town -and I would love it if you included a hotel and a seafront restaurant so we could imagine a holiday here. I love how you planned the transit options, and that tram would be fun to take with views over the bay.

You had asked about some suggestions -and somewhere on the island on a beach having a Lūʻau - with outdoor tables, bonfires, stage area for traditional Polynesian dance. It does not necessarily have to be a tourist thing -if you have ever seen the local dance competitions, it quite impressive. You could incorporate the stage area that you used in Burning Tent in a custom build with palms, etc, near a beach for this kind of thing. Another classic eatery is the Hawaiian plate lunch -and these were originally for farmworkers -so the farms you have would have something like this -the food trucks by the ferry you have with the picnic tables under the pergolas is the kind of setup you would have for a plate lunch place -or with a shed, and these can also be found in any rural area off the side of the road. The other thing is if you have a fishing industry build, many of the fishing boats have their own restaurants -some quite famous like Mama's Fish House -direct from fishing boat to table. All so fun to think about.

I made my one opinion clear on location of the airport. But. I'd like to see the water front tram with pedestrian. You could always shrink the width of the path. Though ik how wonky stretching can be. (What was I thinking using the new pedestrian path on a breakwater/pier😅)

Holy crapmonkeys, that's a lot of IMT. Totally worth it though, it makes roads look like roads if you know what I mean. 🤣You know you can save any junction to use again, don't you? It's not just the roundabouts, all the slip lanes on the main roads can be saved and pasted in again to stop you having to do it over and over. Loving Solitude though, it's perfect.

I've been watching cities vids since Thanksgiving how am i just now getting recommended your channel??!!
Lets gooo
For connecting the tram station up [24:50], I think you could have used the "Union" tool inside Network Multitool, which should be able to combine that end node with the junction. The "Intersect" tool (again, Network Multitool) may also have worked. I'm getting into detailing myself and the nitty-gritty of these mods, and there's certainly a lot of untamed power there haha! Currently making my way through your playlists as I've only recently discovered your videos (as a follow-on from CPP, Overcharged Egg, Akruas et al.) and am thoroughly enjoying them so far. Really relaxing vibe, great artistic vision too (far better than mine!) :)

And this sharing of knowledge is why the C:S community is one of the best in gaming :D
38:50 Still reckon this sounds like Pink!’s new song 🎶
I noticed in your top down view that your Mountains are in somewhat of a straight line. Was thinking that you may want to add a scenic mountain top rail to connect some of your outlying areas. You can google scenic mountain top train in New Hampshire to get a feel for what I mean. I think this could give a pretty cool look with tall rail bridges in the background.

At the tram ferry hub people can fall. At the end the paths do not connect nicely... You should check it out...
I think you should be able to use TMPE and the lane connectors on your level crossing to prohibit the trains from switching tracks at the level crossing
