It looks excellent. Lots of good ideas in it too. That was the mk1. My dad bought the same one. It is great. I have a TD150 modified and a TD125. They have a lot of scope for great sound.

Great work Michael. I have owned a TD 160 for many years and have just started doing it up. How did you remove the 4 pin connections in the arm to rewire directly from the cartridge to the RCA's.

Can’t believe I skipped one of these that was in perfect working order when I transitioned to digital.

I hear ya ,. luckily, I got a Thorns 160 about 7 years ago...had one in 70's....and I am happy as can be.

Good video. I just picked up a TD-160 MKii, with SME 3009 Ser iii. It is dead mint, but I want to do some mods as well. The types of mods Ive done on other tables like my AR XA. You mentioned that you used something other than Dynomat. Why is that? I ask because Ive used dynomat with great results. Does Dynamat worsen the tone of the table? Two more questions for you: what is that underneath the table, an isolation box of some sort? Lastly, Ive had success using oak as well. It's fabulous for the plinth as you know, but does that shim on the headshell really improve the sound? Does it eliminate additional noise? I would think you would want direct contact with arm (I think you should paint it to match the rest of the table, in my humble opinion). Thank you.

Very nice work! Just curious about a few things. The bottom piece of wood, is it just for show of for purpose (the piece underneath the feet of the plinth) And what did you do with the faceplate? Did you just paint it or exchanged it?

Michał piękny jest ten twój thorens. Także posiadam thorensa, ale td 160 MKII w wersji Black matt . Podstawa ramienia TP16 MKIII oraz rurka headshela TP70. Narazie posiadam plinth'e standardową lecz też myślę o zmianie na lite drewno. Zmieniłem dolną płytę na MDF 18mm oraz wykleiłem chassis i sub chassis cienką matą korkową samoprzylepną. Zainstalowałem nowe sprężyny zakupione od vinylnirvana. Zamontowałem regulowane kolce w trzech punktach. Myślę o wymianie ramienia, ale jeszcze nie mam pomysłu na jakie inne ramię. Jeżeli nie będę wymieniał ramienia to z chęcią skorzystam z twoich doświadczeń jeśli chodzi o wymianę okablowania. Ciekaw jestem jak pozbyć się pinów w rurce ramienia żeby przeciągnąć kabelki przez ramię pomijając zbędne połączenia zwiększające pojemność całego układu elektrycznego. Myślałem też nad usztywnieniem łożyska podtalezyka. Ale chwilowo brak pomysłu i dostępu do ślusarza. Pozdrawiam z Belfastu, Artur PS napisz proszę coś o talezu, malowałeś go proszkowo, czy to oryginał?

I don't see where you've reduced the mass of the tonearm the headshell wouldn't of thought be any lighter, what is the mass of the tonearm now, what is the weight difference between the two headshells. What's the bottom platform all about

If your going to modify one, why not use an example that is in bad condition rather than a mint stock one, sacralidge really.
