Thorens TD-224 Record Changer - Changing 45 RPM Records

Thorens TD-224 changing 45's with authentic mechanical sounds. This changer is close to 60 years old, as such some of the squeaks are not "authentic" as originally designed.
Includes approx. 45 second natural decay of rotation after shut-off.

What a fascinating machine. And the 45's all seem to be from the BeeGee's and Yvonne E. You should have let them play all the way through (lol)! Thank you for sharing this video. Great record changer!

I think the reason for cutting the records show as to avoid copyright issues. On the websites I've seen you are only allowed to play a few seconds of a song to avoid a copyright issue (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I've had one since new. A beautiful machine, no doubt. Mine has the original turntable mat; the one above looks like a replacenent. The only weak spot on mine is not always sensing when no record is brought in (which triggers the shutoff cycle).

So does the arm set down on the platter instead of shutting off? I still have the original mat too. For some reason the machine would occasionally have trouble picking up 7" 45's from the platter. The thinner DJ slip mat seemed to solve the problem.
