This old life seemed much too long Little point in going on I couldn't think of what to say Words just vanished in a haze I was feeling cold and tired Yeah, kinda sad and uninspired When it almost seemed too much I see your face and sense the grace And feel the magic in your touch Oh, lay your hands Lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands (woo hoo) Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands Back and forth across the sea I have chased so many dreams But I have never felt the grace That I have felt in your embrace I was tired and I was cold Yeah, with a hunger in my soul When it almost seemed too much I see your face and sense the grace And feel the magic of your touch Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Lay your hands, woo hoo Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands, oooh You know you make me feel so good Yeah, like I never ever thought I would You know you make me feel so strong And now our laughter just goes on and on (and on) So c'mon lay your hands on me 'Cause close to you Is where I really wanna be And if it ever gets too much I see your face and sense the grace And feel the magic in our touch Oh, lay your hands Lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands (Woo hoo) Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands Ooh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands (Woo hoo) Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands Oh, lay your hands on me Oh, lay your hands

I really prefer this original British version of this song.… They re-recorded it for the US, including gospel singers, possibly to justify having the different video etc.…. Most people seem to prefer that version, but for me this version just seems to groove better and sound more flowing… The American version to me seems to be a little bit too choppy and staccato, while this version seems to appeal to me more and just makes me feel better.…. For some reason if you call this song up on almost any streaming service you get the American version usually……. Anyway, love it!

I wholeheartedly agree. I graduated from High School in 1989. A lot of positive memories.
Total chills. I love this song.
This 1985 Thompson Twins song was super magnificent!!
Ahhh the 80s…Such a happier time. When music was fun, hair was crazy and everyday was literally like dressing up for Halloween! Everything was so much brighter. When we missed yesterday, didn’t want today to end and lived for tomorrow. I wish so much that the newer gens could feel that joy.
Together this is mine and my husband's favorite song.
This group is very much underrated.
My second favorite Twins song next to "Hold Me Now". They had their own style. What '80s memories are made of.

This song is so 80s that Molly Ringwald snuck in to play the piano @2:22

They are singing about God. I never saw it until a couple of months ago. Lately I play this in my head constantly!

I heard this song today in the supermarket and it brought me right back to the 80’s. What a time to be alive as a kid. I’d do anything to go back and stay there.
The 80s were a really creative period and there seemed to be more genres available for people to enjoy. People took more risks I think.
We were at the Totally Tubular 80s concert in the Los Angeles region on Saturday, June 29th. Out of about eight bands, Thompson Twins were the best.

Such an emotive song. Beautiful lyrics and Tom’s voice is just sublime. There’s something so romantic and haunting about this song. Loved it in the 80s and still love it now ❤

Such an 80’s sound. I miss these days so much. I was 14 when this was a hit, not a child but not an adult, a really wonderful time in my life. I loved the Thompson Twins, I wore out my cassette tape of Into The Gap and had to buy another.

Everyone looking there best here… love the Pearls.. I feel like this was the song they went out with a bang… with all 3 members

Back when we still had hope.....through all the personal troubles i had growing up , Music back then always gave me hope and happiness...boy how many excellent songs and artists ...back then, this was just another good band , following maybe a video from the Cure and maybe after them there would air some songs by Duran,Duran,Spandau Ballet, Depoeche Mode, The Cult, Matt Bianco, all kinds of music everyone did in an excellent and personal way.......when i see the World today, sometimes i think that i m growing old, some others i just think the World has gone crazy....i wanna live in hope and that's why i'll always keep 80s music close to my heart
I don't think I've seen Paul use this type of bass, what a great sound it puts out.
