if you listen to the song it explains the daughter was adopted from Uganda then life threw a wrench in their plans because they got pregnant. they adopted because they were having trouble conceiving on their own. so they adopted and then found out they managed to conceive.

Thomas is the son of 90's Country artist Rhett Akins ( That Ain't My Truck) . Rhett is still writing songs, for Thomas as well as others.
