If Henry's going to be in this at all he's probably still not going to be a part of the steam team because of the gender equality issue and Nia and Rebecca are still very much in the forefront and all he would do is appear for fan service, and as for Gordon his superiority will turn as quiet and as nice as the Noo Noo from Teletubbies and you won't find as many episodes where he's easily irritated and pompous anymore.

I miss it when Thomas took pride in his branch line and thought it was the most important part of the whole railway.

I'm starting to think that Mattel is trying to kill off this franchise. The show has been very hard to access, and it's never advertised and the toys are overpriced. And because Thomas is British, the far left associates him with the atrocities carried out by the British Empire. And god forbid that something doesn't appeal to the Chinese market.

The fact that mattel willingly greenlit this realy hurts. Thomas was the childhood of millions if not billions of people all over the world. The only way Thomas could function in today’s time is throught cgi. I was okay with the change in 2009(albeit i was 5) and the show looked relatively the same. But now the spirit, the heart, and asthetic that the Awdry family, Britt Alcroft, Dacid Mitton, Andrew Brenner, and many more put into this show has been completely destroyed by corporate greed. BWBA and season 25/26 was only made for toy sales. Thats all mattel sees now: toy sales. They sre willing to destroy a 75 year long legacy of kind-hearted trains just to profit off of the merchandise that came half a century after the brand took off. What little respect I had for mattel is gone. I no longer trust them with anything anymore.

The most worrying thing is if children don't want to watch this version of Thomas it can cause a whole load of issues getting them interested in railways. The preserved steam railways in Britain have have the Thomas link to encourage children to possibly become volunteers in the future. If that link disappears we will struggle to get new volunteers to maintain and run the railways. I grew up watching the old model versions of the Thomas series and I have been interested in model railways and railways since then and I now volunteer at a steam railway in the UK.

I still remember from when I was a kid they re-ran those VERY old original stop-motion model era episodes on PBS Kids in the early 2000's where the characters didn't talk (only the narrator talked saying what was going on during the episodes,) and would only make these weird facial expressions, (They might of been the original very early episodes that came out n the 80's or 90's, apparently it's called the Model era by people on here, so yeah I grew up with the original Thomas pretty much). :) Then I think a few years later (probably around 2008 or so?) the CGI ones where they talked came out. At first I got kinda confused why they talked I remember then I kinda liked it I think. it still in a way stayed true to the original stop motion ones and they looked the same, only they talked., but still, NOTHING beats the original stop-motion model era ones. But THIS? NO, just NO. There's so much wrong with it. If anything, they should just have reruns of those old model era ones instead. We don't need a ANOTHER CHEAP "westernized" Anime Style Thomas like all the reboots are going for these days. The kids today need to see what the REAL Thomas was like, (AKA those old reruns), not this piece of TRASH. I swear, they really need to leave these old cartoons and our childhoods ALONE and stop ruining them already. T_T If they can't make these reboots stay true to the original, they shouldn't even bother at all. T_T I feel sorry for the kids today who will only know Thomas through this trash. T_T :(

It’s sad because gravity’s falls show was absolutely FIRE and there was only 41 episodes

That show may have a small blue engines named Thomas, but he is NOT the REAL Thomas. The real Thomas lives on in thehearts of thoes who love the original show. He will continue on in the original episodes, Railway Series, Fan art, Fan Stories, Fan Series, and thoes places, not in the current show, not for a long time.

From a business perspective, traditional 2D animation is much cheaper than CGI. It's less costly and can produce more episodes and more character designs. For example, Transformers Animated has a higher Transformer count (including background characters who each were individualy designed) than Transformers Prime or Cyberverse due to 2D animation being less expensive.

I wouldn't be surprised if this "reboot" fails and loses Mattel so much more money that they end up eventually getting brought by another company. 20th Century Fox made a similar kind of mistake with releasing the infamous FANT4STIC, and ended up losing money from that and paid the price a few years later when they got brought by Disney. Mattel have truly not only killed the franchise, but also their own reputation and our own trust in them.

The reason Thomas worked was because they were actually trains! Especially in the early seasons as the plot were just, normal everyday stuff but meture, you didn't have magical fairy going on adventure, you had trains doing normal jobs like what people do in the real world.

I grew up with Thomas too. It's bad enough the converted to CGI but I calmed down after the Awdry stories were brought back starting with the Arlesdale Miniature Railway and even over time they began to look more and more like real trains. I wanted to see an anime version but it looks like I should've kept my big mouth shut.

Thomas looks like a small child, combined with an E2 tank engine, but the proportions are completely off, cartoonized, and made of paper and cardboard.

I started with the Ringo Starr and George Carlin era.

I actually see some sort of analogy in this. The original TTTE is to the reboot as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is to Pony Life. Even the art styles of the newer incarnations look similar, with the characters being chibified.

Chuggington suddenly looks a lot better.

It was time for Thomas to leave he had seen his life go to hell

The Classic, Brenner, and HiT seasons were my kind of show when I was a kid. This reboot completely takes away the realism of the show.

I grew up watching the original Thomas every morning. I loved it. A few years later when I saw the CGI, I lost my mind.

I'm Sorry I Hated by Josh Jefferson: Hit, I'm sorry I hated Skorloey's childish personality. Hit, I'm sorry I hated Edward's uninviting attitude towards Rocky. Hit, I'm sorry I hated the "special special" concept. Hit, I'm sorry I hated the "introduce-a-one-time-character-just-for-merchandise" approach. Hit, I'm sorry I hated the CGI switch. Hit, I'm sorry I hated the repetitiveness. Hit, I'm sorry I hated Sharon Miller's writing. Mattel, I'm sorry I hated the decision to make Thomas the narrator. Mattel, I'm sorry I hated the non-static moving (bouncing). Mattel, I'm sorry I hated the Wish segments. Mattel, (I guess) I'm sorry I hated Thomas turning into Dumbo and stretching morbidly. Mattel (I'm kind of) sorry I hated Percy having a Patrick Star level IQ. But now, on the 75th, instead of honoring the memory of a train who has touched the lives of millions of people, you put financial concerns before the excitement and anticipation of those 10,000 something people and the Rev. Awdry. You had one more chance to carry on with the Brenner -era glory, and you blew it!!! So CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!

This is a joke. I hate every single one of these things that have been brought into the show from around season 9 all the way up to BWBA. Excluding season 17-22ish of course. BUT seeing this crap makes some of it look good in a way. Not all of it. But the bottom line is that Thomas is done.

Can't believe the series leading the hull of my childhood is up in flames. 2020 truly is a year of surprises good and bad (mostly bad).

I agree. It dose hurt to see Thomas & Friends in this form especially when it made me happy for so many years the show and the merchandise.

When I first saw this, I legit thought it was a stock image of a generic cartoon train, not official Thomas art, wtf... I wish they'd stop trying to baby-fy all these classic characters, it just makes them less timeless and appealing.

Thomas stopped being good after season 7, with "Legend Of The Lost Treasure", "The Adventure Begins" and the small railway episodes being exceptions. Since then, its been a slow decline.

The first Thomas episode I have ever watched when I moved to the United States was Thomas and the jet engine and the second episode I saw a I belieave to be a season 8 episode and it was about Gordon worrying about falling apart or something let me guys, I have loved the show since I was in diapers I did not ask for this 2D animation and they do this just to avoid getting bankrupt because sales were going down well you know what let sales go down I don't give a piece of shit I hate this uncareable fan company and to those that came up with I mean we should all protest about this at the headquarters and break every single damn equipment they have in there take it as our own, with Britt allcroft leading us into it and have the ghosts of Wilbert awdry, David Mitton and Michael Angelis haunt them. My thoughts match yours. Though a few things, the show went full CGI in 2009, this is not part of the same series, this is a full reboot, it seams like the only reason why it's classed as seasons 25-26 is because it still has the "Thomas & Friends" logo attached to it, because they couldn't be bothered to change it, and the Hornby range was discontinued in 2019. The thing that's even more baffling is that in 2016 they made a YT mini series where Thomas travels around the world, "Thomas And Friends: Really Useful Around The World", the pre curser to BWBA, and it was in 2D, and the 2D Thomas sprite in it, looked 100% better then what they've got for this reboot. Plus say good bye to development for the side characters, because it's been said that every single episode and the two movies (specials) for this are all focus on Thomas. This is why fan content will most likely keep the legacy of this franchise alive, every time the show dips in quality, the quality of fan content in our videos, fan art, etc ski rockets.

I had a lot of the old ERTL Thomas toys as a kid , what was so great is that they had toys of characters that were only seen in the books
