This has been my favorite fairground ride since I first enjoyed it waaaayyyy back in 1983 as a kid in Warrington on walking day. Here in Britain this was known as the "American Eggs" & if you smiled sweetly at the operator he would give you're Egg a good shove to invert you several times even before the ride started. These were the days before Health & Safety so there were not even any seat belts in the Eggs, just a bar to cling too & brace your legs on the floor. Oh such FUN!!! I took it with a school buddie & she threw up after! LOL! I always remember the Ultravox song "We all stood still" playing while riding this awesome contraption. Thank you for such wonderful nostalgic memories! x

I've been trying to find this ride since I was little. I've never been on it but I remember seeing it at The Town Moor in Newcastle as a kid and thinking it looked terrifying. Nobody seems to know what I'm on about and I never see it now. Like you said, there was nothing to hold onto. The eggs were tiny and you had to just push your arms and legs against the sides to steady yourself. Maybe there was a bar on the top that I couldn't see. Before Google I had no way of finding out what it was called and I forgot about it til just now. I love thrill rides but I still wouldn't like this 😅 it looks too flimsy and unsafe. I'm not a big fan of the big wheel in general.

If they're holding onto a steering wheel to keep it from not spinning, I've been on something like this. I had my kid w/ me & bugged her to get on it w/ me. Fast forward & she was like," honestly, you know I never wanted to go on it right? But after I did, it made me feel so much stronger." Something like that. & I freaking had my cell out 🤦🏻‍♀️..., thinking it wouldn't be a big deal. I had to put it in my other hand, while using my arm to hold her back. I didn't want to lose it. It flung us everywhere... My other arm/hand, was holding the steering to try to keep it from spinning over... I guess I did alright tho. I didnt say anything obnoxious to add more fear or paranoia or anything. But yeah, it was a good experience for my kid. Bc before that, there was some snarky teens talking about how kids shouldn't ride it. Being pretty rude to her. She meets the requirements & don't try me, children 😒. We didn't say anything back... Bc we didn't need to. We had to wait for them to clean up the ride afterwards from those same exact teens puking. My kid took it like a trooper. I think it was one long lap steel thing, & one long lap seat belt. We def had air time on it.

I haven't seen one since I was a kid at the Town Moor in Newcastle. Apparently they're still at some travelling fairs across the UK but I was at one yesterday and it wasn't there and it hasn't been at any I've been to since the early 90s. If it was there I didn't see it, The Town Moor is massive so I could have just not seen it but I've tried describing this ride to loads of people and nobody knows what I'm on about. I was starting to think I'd dreamt it actually but I'm glad to see it does exist.
