    It seems that teds original motivation for the seed was his rampant greed that he got growing up in a consumerist and hedonistic society. I think this actually fits better with the themes of the movie then just getting the seed to impress a love interest

    3:56 if you listen closely at the end the townsfolk background singers sing "please don't mention greedvile", Implying that this town has gained a reputation of being materialistic even in the world of the lorax. Which is odd since in the original movie Theedville seemed to represent humanity expanding as whole.

    I'm pretty sure it was Greenville, if you look at the original deleted scenes there is a motorcycle scene in Greenville. They don't want you to mention Greenville because O'Hare doesn't want them to feel sorry for the trees that their grandparents had that the Onceler cut down.

    I wonder how this movie would've turned out if it was made by Dreamworks. I mean, still would be a crap shoot - we would either get The Prince of Egypt or The Boss Baby, but still! Seeing how dark Puss in Boots 2 got, I feel like current Dreamworks would be willing to do a dark Lorax.

  • @JosoezinduASMRpog

    @@ThePreciseClimber Honestly, the lorax movie they were probably going for considering the original songs feels more like something old Disney would do, in a fashion similar to the hunchback of notre dame. And also, Puss in boots 2 wasn't really a dark movie, the only darker scenes were mostly the ones with the wolf, that are a really, REALLY, *REALLY* small fraction of the movie

    I just think the line "the Man who bottled the fresh air sounds WAY better than The final "the Man who found a way to sell Air" because It shows that O'hare didn't saved those people by creating a brand new thing, but actually shows that he only began to sell something people were supposed to get for free (it's a well done critic to capitalism but illumination woudn't allow that because they would be criticising theirselves.)

  • @genghskhan

    @genghskhan

    11 ай бұрын

    I feel as though saying "the man who found a way to sell air" is better as it shows how he didn't necessarily invent air, but rather found a way to sell something which everyone would think is impossible to sell, as it is meant to be free. "Bottled fresh air" suggests that he doesn't really have any real power and status in their world, which isn't a great thing to say in the opening, when they are trying to characterise everyone in the beginning.

    One thing that bothered me about this movie is that the once-ler is both a urban legend and the founder of the city!? Shouldn't he be known as the man who established thneedville's modern society in this universe?! Guess what. This song fixes it. "Hill that bears our founders name, soon to become a pizza chain!" Shows that they know who founded their town but they're so materialistic that they don't care!

    If in the song we are given to understand that the onceler is the founder of the city of thneedville that there is even a hill with his name, all the citizens know who founded the city but they are so materialists and consumerists that they maintain their monument that they no longer care about.it matters, i would have liked to see this in the movie.

    listening to this song, if i close my eyes hard enough, i can _see_ a shot where at like 2:18 the camera is following a parade, they're going down a residential street, then the camera stops to look at one of the houses, then zoops in to a shot of the kitchen for the next verse where ted is trying to convince his mom to get him the latest thingamajig. eventually, for some reason, they go out to join the parade, though ted is practically still in his own little world singing about the horrid case of consumerism the poor boy's come down with also. where do they get their food from?? surely they can't feed that many people just on their own? where do the imports come from? isn't ohare able to see the wasteland from his blimp? hell, surely more people than just the one kid have caught a glimpse of what's outside in the past few decades, especially given all the crazy architecture they could use to their advantage to rube goldberg themselves high enough

    It's Thneedsville, they got everything the needsville. Most folk don't seem to care whats going on beyond the walls aside from the fact that there are probably trucks coming in from beyond into Thneedsville. Which inherently would mean that there are other places that are probably worse off than Thneedsville, like really poor farms beyond in the chemical wasteland where the Mad Max Whos fight for territory. (Where's my Doctor Seuss Lorax spinoff where we see Mad Max Whos driving Kinkbobs and Wazzoooos across a polluted wasteland?) O'hare literally went on and was like "the more smog in the sky, the more people will buy" He truly does not seem to care about how the wasteland looks when he's literally poisoning his own air. (Something I wish was delved into, I really would've loved to see O'hare using a breathing aparatus rather than just be rocketed off... He's still rich and still around... It's not like they off'd the dude for his abhorrent greed)

    aye lmao Its not really a joke but it isn't original footage. I simply got scenes from the final Thneedville and Let it grow and put it to the Original Demo. The music is early "footage;" I did not create it, it was what turned into the Thneedville in the final film.

    Yes, but…it’s not really that better. I still don’t like this idea of an overly-optimistic “dystopia” and O’Hare still exists.

    @@nicholasmahoney7820 I'm pretty sure that the idea was that they weren't overly optimistic in the original one, singing is just the best way they found to cope with the terrible live they need to handle in thneedville And O'hare is not really that bad of a thing, since having both O'hare and the Once-er exist could work for showing both sides of the coin:The once-ler showing the side of the big companies who destroy the world, while O'hare is more onto the other side, that is the consumerism, since you can't just blame the companies when the peiple consuming the products are also completely in the wrong here (Or do you really think the once-ler would cut another tree if nobody bought a thneed? Both the book and the movie show that the only reason that the Once-ler is doing all of that is because people buy the thneeds, even more in the book as the lorax literally convinces the Once-ler that what he's doing is wrong and that he should stop, and it actually works, but then he's notified about how much the thneeds are selling and he goes back to ignoring the Lorax and just want to keep on Biggering and turning more trees into thneeds), although that side goes a lot more for the thneedville people, while O'hare is just there to impersonate said product people consume so much.
