We finally finish the workbench! I am stoked with how it turned out and I cannot wait to start using it on a regular basis for many years to come. In this video we seal the top surface with Shellac, add lots of T-Track, install the face frame, doors, and drawer fronts, and then finally PAINT!
Sure enough I made a couple of stumbles which I share in the video but if anything it highlights that just about ANYONE out there could do this project! If your shop is in need of some shop greatness, give this project a try.
Check out Part 5 where I finish the router table!: • Not sure I would do th...

I understand that this is a modular design where I could potentially pick/choose how I want the workbench to be designed (as far as I know). Is there the option/capability to have a miter saw built into the bench as well?

One argument for putting extra effort (like painting/finishing) into shop furniture is it's a great learning experience - you can improve your technique, learn new stuff, and when you need to make something that *matters* you're just that much better at it.

@@ShopNation you're a complete moron if you can't realize how paying a couple extra hundred dollars for the saw stop up front is way better than losing your fingers and paying tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills. you must not actually talk to people in the field. go talk to some of the guys who've lost their fingers to table saw accidents, and they'll gladly tell you they would have rather forked over a extra thousand dollars on a table saw and have their hands function normally.

Nice workbench! Just a tip regarding the router blowout and struggles with your cut. Your first pass (going right to left against the fence) was going the opposite direction you wnat to go. This is called a climb cut and meant you were fighting the direction the router bit was spinning. The second cut was going left to right against the fence and you probably noticed that was a lot easier. This follows the direction the router bit spins and makes the cut much easier.

My thoughts from making this awesome table: - The plans are complete and easy to follow - I learned a lot about woodworking, and my crappy tools need upgrading - I wish I did not buy my plywood from Lowes but went for Baltic Birch - The blast gates do not fully close after the first use. Not sure what the issue was but I need to find another solution - This is my first table router and I cannot find any info on what type of router to use. For example, can I just take apart my Craftsman router? The internet was not helpful in this area. - Routing the channels for the t-track was a disaster. Seriously. Almost started over. - My woodworking hobby is draining my bank account.

Travis the best mistakes are the ones unplanned and captured by camera 📷!!! Had you planned to screw up you would never have been able to do it so naturally.!!! When you hit the nail and the mask shot up the dust extraction pipe i would have put my tools down turned out the lights and gone indoors as I would have carried on screwing up for the rest of the day making me lose my head and make way more cockups, different day less cockups!!! The build looks great by the way and the shop is all tieing together now!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

Mistakes are one thing , not thinking things through , being in a hurry and fumbling around are another. we all have bad days, but a bad day in a carpenter shop may have serious consequences, if one of my staff is having a bad day I give him some grunt work with no power tools. TMW is another day with all your fingers and nothing stuck in your eye.

One note on painting cabinets and making the shop the way yours does is professionalism. If someone is a pro woodworker and customers come by the shop and they see a dungeon with cabinets that look thrown together they may think twice about doing business with the owner. If the shop looks great the the cabinets look professional that speaks to the quality of the woodworker in the shop.

So. Damn. Nice. I just built a (loosely-based) version of this, and didn't put a router in it, because I have a router in my miter saw workbench, but the potential to rout large pieces, move them all around, etc., by having it built into the workbench is tempting. Have to see if I can retro-fit it....

Even when you know the mask flies onto the table and slides close to the dust collection hose, where nit is sucked up because it was turned on, of course. nice job on the work bench, I like the honesty you put in your project videos. Would make a suggestion for you though, I notice every time you have to cut out a square hole you drill 4 holes then get the jigsaw to finish it. Although it works well and has for years, and you tend to use Rigid tools, you may want to consider getting the Jobmax. They make it in corded and cordless , and you can get interchangeable heads for it allowing you to use the same tool for more than one purpose. Great job on the work bench!

I've wanted to build an outfeed table like this for years. Ive been busy with many major remodels on our house and just havent had the time to fix up my small garage woodshop. But now the house is about 95% done FINALLY and I can get to the garage. Luckily I am in sales for a local Home Center/ Lumber Yard. This video series inspired me to finally get my shop put together. After watching this build I bought all of my materials the next day (2022 might not have been a good year lumberwise to be inspired). I plan on using some of the design of this table. Thanks. Great job - I like that you are real and you show when you make a mistake and then show how you corrected it. Enjoy the new workbench and I can't wait to see what your next project will be like. Thanks for the education and entertainment. Keep up the greatness. I appreciate that you want to take care and show pride in your shop. It is hard to focus on creating something great for ourselves at times. Plus I can look at a video and if I see any part of your shop in the picture I know is you from the color of the cabinets!

Awesome stuff. Can’t wait to get my shop up and do the cabinets and this bench. And 147k subscribers, wow! I think I hopped on the train when you were still 4 digits. Just goes to show how great the content is. Well done!

Wow, this is an awesome build! You gave me some great ideas for the router lift i plan on installing in a future base cabinet build. The dust collection box was a terrific idea! 😎💯

Hey Travis, Great work! I've been waiting to see it all come together and you did a fantastic job. I downloaded your plans (they are awesome BTW) and am still on step 2 from your video series. I'll send a pic when I'm all done. As a note, I happen to have a Sawstop and the dimensions are 1" shorter. I planned accordingly and if I were to do it again, I would only take out 1/2" from the height of the table. Also, for those out there who do have a sawstop, you can adjust the organizer pullout drawers so that they have an even gap of 5/8" with the following centerlines: 1.125, 6.75, 12.375 and 18. I happen to be an amateur/novice woodworker and for those out there in the same boat, buy the plans! you will up your game.

Thanks for putting this together, been watching it, and already started my own build in my new shop/garage. Would love to see a video on how you pick out the wood for your projects. Seems no matter what I pickup, no matter how it looks in the store, it has some bends & twists when I go to use it. Warped plywood is terrible for building drawers! The wood you get seems 100 times better.

I have been rolling around, pausing every few seconds after the next oops, laughing, then thinking about when I did the same thing in a build. Thanks for sharing!

Outstanding. Love your videos. I did the same thing, routing through a screw in my workbench. This one had some funny parts, for sure.
