Before it does any of that it’s going to float around and bump into the mechanisms and cause the toilet to run constantly. I tried a trick to use less water with filled water bottles (reused) so that’s how I know. Didn’t break anything just didn’t let the toilet stop running when flushed.

If your getting a smell out of the bottom of your toilet, that means it wasn’t properly sealed with 100% silicone and sewer gases are getting through, and for the sewer gases to even get to that point, it means you have a failed seal at the closet flange- replace the wax ring, or your flange is set to low and you need either an extra thick wax ring, double stack two extra thick’s, or get one of those new fancy silicone self adjusting rings to seal the flange. But masking the smell is not the right solution.

@@davidbalderston2751 where is that code? codes in the U.S, do not have a p-trap down stream of a toilet closet flange. The trap is the toilet itself the gases don’t creep past the waterline of the bowl. So it’s essential that the wax ring and the silicone circumference are installed properly.

Do you realize that Downy can actually stain fabrics? I worked in healthcare for almost forty years, and sometimes my whites would get weird stains that would actually ruin the clothes. I found out they were from Downy, and switched to wool balls in the dryer to eliminate the problem. Anyway, I wouldn’t dream of spraying Downy in my rooms (even diluted!) because of the risk of stains.

Easier way to remove blood/stain: wet the blood stain, make a paste of salt and water rub the salt paste into the stain, let dry then wash. Works every time.Salt dissolves protein. Use this for chocolate, tomato sauce. Protein stains (human and animal fluids) should never be exposed to hot water or acids like vinegar or lemon as this will set the stain. Thoroughly rinsing then soaking protein stains (like blood) in cold water with a bit of sea salt will usually do the trick.

The downy one I would be careful because of the possibilities of different chemicals that are in the different scented (or original scent) could have a negative impact over a long period of time and a possibility of serious allergic reactions that will be far worse than a person getting a rash in their skin. The concept is good though but I would try to find a good natural scent (orange/lemon/lime peels that have been ground up to put in the water) or essential oils that you’ve made sure don’t have any harmful chemicals to breathe, harmful chemicals to the skin, and harmful chemicals that could land on foods/drinks that might be consumed. Many of the ideas are really good and the first one with the shaving cream and toilet is awesome hack that I plan to use later today to try to get rid of some smells from our homes bathroom that I haven’t been able to figure out where it was coming from and I was planning on removing the toilet to clean beneath it along with the inside but im definitely gonna give it a shot before putting in all the extra labor.

@@JaneSmith0709 my older sister has breathing issues and is extremely scent sensitive, asthma and allergies. I bought her a set of wool dryer balls, which does help soften the clothes naturally, as well as cutting dry time. There are things I don’t like to use fabric softener on myself. I love my set, as I use them whether I use fabric softener or not. I keep them in my dryer. I can’t speak for the ones I’ve seen that are not wool, but my wool ones are awesome and my sister loves hers too.

  • @sjladuke75

@@kellidinit3725I always use wool dryer balls. They decrease the drying time & fluff up fabrics naturally unlike commercial fabric softners that are not safe for the environment or fabrics & actually make towels less absorbent. If you want to, you can put just a drop or two of essential oils directly on the dryer balls. I have one marked just for that & keep it separated from the others. I noticed so many using fabric softener sheets that I smell when outside walking. That's in the air & not safe for birds & pollinators. Another problem is the newer beads people add to their washing machines to keep clothes "fresher, longer. " Those chemicals are being put into the water system, causing problems & definitely get absorbed into the skin. My dermatologist advises against using anything with fragrance when washing/drying clothes for that reason. There's a reason it affects those with asthma or respiratory problems. There are so many natural solutions that work just as well as the others.

Now the plumber told me that when you clean or put anything near the toilet, it tends to push back out a little. Is it safe to put the Barbasol around the toilet? Will it clog the underneath ring that leads downward?

Install a whole house water softener system. Scrape it off with a pumice stone. Cut off the water to the toilet and let the toilet dry off. Soak the deposits with undiluted vinegar and wipe off the softened deposits. The trick here is to keep the vinegar wet with repeated spraying, or vinegar wetted sponges or rags applied to the deposits to dissolve them. Keep a pint jar of vinegar inside the toilet tank to keep the water acid. Make a small hole in the jar lid to let the vinegar deep out. Replace the vinegar every two weeks or so. They say this will damage the flush mechanism in the toilet tank but the process has not caused any problems for me after several years use.

Goodness! This is just a over all home cleaning video :D I do have a silly question. The 1 : 10 vinegar/water for glass mineral deposits. Do you think it would work on car windows/side mirrors or would it need to be much harsher? I was thinking that baking soda/hydrogen peroxide combo for the it but I'm unsure. I don't wanna spend almost $200 on glass polishers. I got the sun roof glass I could try both on first to test as I don't care how that looks at all (I leave it closed always) but feed back from anyone would be welcome before I attempt it :D
