This Will Cure Your Fear of Bunker Shots Instantly

Спорт

Bunker shots can be some of the most intimidating shots in golf for new and even experienced players. Getting stuck in a bunker can ruin a good round if you don't have a strategy for how to approach these shots. And the way PGA tour players approach these shots might not work for you if you can't match their swing speed. The good news is that there's a really simple way for amateur golfers to get out of the bunkers easily and hit perfect sand shots with a good setup and a few easy tips.

I’m a player for 62 years who took a lot of lessons in my first 32 years. At the tender age of 49, I learned the Natural Golf Swing of “Pipeline” Moe Norman resulting in a 30 year old handicap reduction of 20 to 12 and an invitation to teach this “new” golf swing. Been teaching the best method of swinging a golf club for the past 30 years. Somehow in all those years of taking and giving lessons, I never heard of bending the left arm to assure that I would swing through the sand more consistently. Never too old to catch on.

Well explained that no other coaches taught it before ever in my 14 yrs memories!! Most coaches if not all taught the PGA way stopping short of explaining why. And never the amateur one. Cannot wait to practice it. Bunker is a killer to me always. Cannot thank you enough. ❤❤❤😮

I have always had a good short game, including pitch shots up to 90 yards. The one thing that was lacking, and I never knew why, was a consistent bunker shot. It never made sense why I could be a low handicap chipper and putter but fail to get out of bunkers! That is now all in the past 😀I had an extensive practice session in a bunker today (20 metres) and half my shots were within 1 metre and the worst was about 3.5 metres! Wow! Everything about this lesson is 100% correct and definitely works! Thanks Ed, you are the king!

20:00 You're hitting everything on the hosel because your feet are buried below the ball. Start with little chips out of the bunker and build in hinge from there. Gotta exorcize that mental block and just trust your posture and swing path in the bunkers.

When Pat hit that plugged at around 38 minutes it reminded me of how way back when if i had any sort of chip shot around the green and i was skulling everything that day …id switch to that chop shot from rough /fringe/ or very short fairway etc just to not fly it across to other side of green into a possible bunker… i havent used that chop shot that in many years , but i know i can always pull it out easily ..so great to see it works for a plugged trap shot too! Though most traps in my area are usually hard enouGh to never plug 😂

From the information given do you guys recommend a lob wedge 58 or 60 degree for shots like this over the sand wedge 54 or 56 with a high bounce. 90% of lob wedges in bounce are around 8. What brands do you recommend that have higher bounce for shots like this for beginners. I know you guys said the alien club but have had one and have found that club doesn't work well on harder dry turf conditions. Any suggestion is appreciated.

@@edschwent1630so glad you mentioned the 60 on harder traps … it seems most municipal courses in my area have most if not all traps that are mostly hard pan dirt with small layer of sand at best… learned most (short or sand trap )shots with a 60 paying no attention to the bounce …i recently grabbed a couple other wedges and settled on adding in same model sandwedge as my TaylorMade RAC OS irons just because the rest of the irons hit half decent …but i still use the 60 mostly and was hearing everywhere i shouldnt even have a 60 …not just once but a lot have mentioned to open a spotin my bag and use the 55 /sandwedge and remove the 60 … ive always had a 60 ,but was considering it but i kjow i can almost always hit that 60 * 35 yrds up to 75 with amd avergare of 60/65 yrds …it may not seem like much difference but the adjustment to using only the 55 would require more practice and changes imo …now uncle Ed inferred a 60 is useful in hard traps iam happy 😂

Just thought /realized …that no grounding the club in a trap rule must’ve came about because one guy was using “grounding the club “ as a way to compress the sand out of the way behind the ball way back when 😂… all others playing this guy realized it was handicapping them To have practiced and learned to “out” without clearing behind the ball …and a new rule was born 😜
