can you attach a softbox to the fresnel or light intensifier?

No. A softbox is used to diffuse the light and make it soft, while these modifier is to concentrate the light to make the light hard.

@@PaulHeimlund I was thinking maybe it could be a good way to get a higher output through your soft box since these lights are sometimes not strong enough to be used as a key light when diffused. Thanks for the response!

Hi, thanks for this video. Outside of the slightly different beam angle range, it's not 100% clear what is the distinguishing difference between fresnel lenses and intensifiers as, on paper, it sounds like they essentially do the same thing. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hey! As you say they are very similar, but the intesifier is significantly smaller, so it’s easier to “travel” with and you get a smaller beam angle.

@@PaulHeimlundThanks Paul, I think there's a bit more to it than that, hence the design of the two are fundamentally different. I emailed iFootage and they gave a sort of decent breakdown: 1. Design Structure - The fresnel has a special lens with a series of concentric rings on the surface. The intensifier uses convex lenses or reflectors. 2. Light Focus - The fresnel can focus the light into a smaller area, creating a more concentrated and intense beam. The intensifer is less precise and less focused. 3. Lighting Effect - The fresnel produces a softer and more even illumination, creating smoother light spots. The intensifier is relatively weaker in this aspect. 4. Range of Use - The fresnel can be used for medium-sized venues or close-range illumination, with a relatively wider lighting coverage. The intensifier can be used for long-distance illumination or lighting smaller areas. 5. Application Scenarios - The fresnel can be used for stage performances, photography, and film production (where soft lighting is required). The intensifier can be used for exhibitions, stage effects (high brightness, localized illumination, or emphasizing specific areas). I find this breakdown *sort of* helpful, but it would be cool if you could've tested how these two attachments give you different results. Lumen testing results would be cool too in future videos. Cheers.

@@AGS-8785-D1R You’re absolutely right, but it’s a very fine balance when doing “infotainment” videos. Most people just want short videos where information is sadly not that much appreciated. Appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind for future videos! Cheers :)
