Thanks for the review. I've heard this song countless times but had never seen this video.

This was first song ever to give me chills back in 1999. It still does and I still love the song.

I first saw this from 'End of an Era'. Beautiful voice and Emppu's guitar solo was too short. I think there is a lot more to Emppu than we're getting.

Oh this song is so beautiful. This one was also played on my mom's funeral. ❤ She really loved this song.

I think this may have been written for the Northern hemisphere eclipse in 1999. The first and last time Tuomas let someone else select what he was writing about. REAL talent when such a rush job turns into this, hey? Nightwish Army, Blue Moutains Corps, Australia.

I read somewhere that when they shooted this video in Finnish Lapland ... there were plenty of mosquitos around. You can see them whirling around there like in 6:22. Tarja got so many bites that she had to go to medical center for some help. Sun is going to sleep during eclipse in the end.

There are two videos for this song, but I prefer this one, with Finland landscape... So beautiful, so quiet. 1999 is the year I discovered Nightwish, not thanks to MTV (never watched it) but simply because the young guy working in my favorite cybercafé put Nightwish on the CD Player while I was surfing on the web.

Man, I love this song so much. It's got everything in its place. It's an amazingly beautiful song. I first heard it in '99 and it's still one of my favorite songs.

Such a nostalgic song. Their best ballad for sure.

This is the one with Tarja and the mosquitoes 🙈😆 Tarja has said that filming that music video was awful, it was cold, and there were mosquitoes everywhere 😅 But she still likes the end result. The first music video I ever saw from NW was Nemo. I was a kid back then but I still loved it! I loved Tarja's red dress. Thanks guys! Thank you Helmut!

Floor sang this song live at the Nightwish gig beautifully, but this Tarja's original version is something from another dimension, and Tarja's live version as well. There are earlier Nightwish songs that Floor later moved to another (higher) level, but also there are earlier songs that are unattainable for Floor, but Tarja sang them stunningly. These songs also include, for example: Walking in the Air, Phantom of the Opera (with Marko), Siren or I Wish I had an Angel

Tarja modified her singing of the song over the next 5 years. She thought it sounded as if it were recorded in a phone booth. Also this is where she shocked the boys by cutting her hair! Luckilly it grew out again. How would she do those epic hair whips without it? Love how she sounds now but still get nostalgic for the super young Tarja's voice. Keep in mind this is between her time in Finland music academy and her training in Germany where she got her Master's degree in music theory. Tarja is Gen X and we are keeping her as ours. 😂❤❤ the 05 version is great. Happy Easter and Happy birthday Helmut.

I've seen this video many times but only now did I think of how weird it was that the band's first major music video with some actual production effort behind it only featured Tarja and none of the other members of the band. Given what transpired afterwards, it all feels a bit ominous.

Maybe it was a kind of political decision to go this way. Later it was a different situatio, but back in those days they may have thought we have this extraordinary voice so let's push the song with her in the video as well. They had to find their way of doing such things still. And I like this video a lot, just Tarja and nature.

May be they wanted to give a "picture" ! Tarja in the forest and lakes of finland like a fairy! Imagine the men of the band around!... i would n t be so poetic!

I get to see them In Czech Republic in June, at Metalfest, and probably attending Utrecht in the Netherlands, September 17th. Two days later am watching Epica September 19th, FULL Orchestra & choir show. Will be the best birthday gifts in my life, as my birthday is on September the 18th

I'm not sure when i really saw this the first time. I think however that i saw them the first time in person was when "From wishes to Eternity" came out. Its just sad that "Sleeping Sun" isn't on it. But we have for that at least "Walkin in the air" and of course "Swanheart" with the epic ending where Tarja sings together with Emppus guitar .. sooo epic 😍😍

You are right. I was always wondering why they didn’t perform ‚Sleeping Sun‘ in that concert. It was their greatest hit that time…🤷🏻‍♂️ The whole concert is epic..🤘🏻

Thanks a lot for the reaction and the request, Helmut. This is a nostalgic video, but I have to say that I much prefer the more recent official Sleeping Sun video, where Tarja as Valkyrie leads the Nightwish boys into battle as warriors. But this is very nice and magical too. Nightwish and young Tarja with her still very dark voice at the beginning of everything. Nightwish has been also in my life for so long that even though my love for them has changed over the years, they are as much a part of my life as Tarja.

I like the newer video, too. But in my opinion it doesn’t really fit to the song.. The 99er version is more magical for me personally. And it started my Tarja journey..😁

2005 video is very good, more beautiful compared to this one. But song itself is perfect for me exactly from '99. It's less soft and more serious and majestic.

First of all, happy birthday Helmut. Thank you for this suggestion. I have seen this video version first before they came up with the Valkyrie video. And as I am much more bound to nature than to war I also like this video more. Actually there is too much war going on, I don't need to see young boys being led into war. This video instead is a salute to nature, which I can identify much more with.
