@@precisionguesswork5394, I used to work at a place that made nails and brads, tacks, concrete screws, and DUPLEX nails, and yes duplex nails have 2 heads, and yes you are supposed to drive both of the heads in because of expansion of the concrete! This is how we know when people know what they are talking about. Lol

@@snakespear-1 I am aware of duplex nails, of course I've never called them that, but their use is to hold framing in place, and still have a head to pull them out with a claw hammer. Just didn't think of them as a two headed nail. Obviously you wouldn't use them on the inside of a cement form.

Pro tip: you can save on concrete by mixing it with baking powder. It will rise up to twice it's normal size. If you don't have baking powder, you can use beer. Budweiser is best, because nobody will miss it.

No the self leveling powder was the best.................Hope they put a little shed on this so it did'nt have to go to one of our landfills......And concrete isnt really heavy,only about 4050 lbs /cu yard

thank you for sharing... one best practice to add... I let my grass grow to about 5-7", pour the concrete, then, after it dries I'll mow the grass down to the concrete.. this way, grass fibers extend ALL the way through the concrete for added strength throughout... you're welcome!

When someone says See-ment floor or whatever, I laugh to myself and teach them the difference between cement and concrete. Concrete work is extremely difficult, heavy work. I was a construction worker working with concrete for 40 years and I enjoyed this very much.

From the beginning, I was like WTF? I'm not a pro but a handyman and I was tripping after all these years of doing it "wrong". Funny stuff Dude.

LOLOL, I tried to flag down a dozen cement trucks to pour concrete for a shed I’m making. Nine of the truck drivers told me to go F*** myself. The other three said “Are you crazy!” I tried to bribe them with money, food and finally my wife but they refused all my great offers. Hilarious video. I used to make forms for concrete and wondered why they had to make new ones every time. I thought of an idea to make prefab forms but never had the money to patent my invention. Now many companies use my invention but I don’t get a damned dime. My wife doesn’t either.

As a contractor I find this hilarious. You get what you pay for people.

I knew right away that he was joking when he mentioned leaving the grass for the fibers. I have first hand experience pouring concrete with organics in it (wood, leaves, olive pits, etc.). It weakens the concrete so bad and is very difficult to fix.

After a couple days of curing it needs to be heavily vibrated with a jackhammer and either a bull point or chisle bit. You want to go until there are cracks everywhere in the slab and this prevents future cracks from forming. Also it will make your slab more portable should you need to leave and want to take your slab with you it can be put in the back of a truck.

Thats what the 10lb sledg is for one wack its in a million pieces, the water he added after the pour spelled doom for the slab. The key is never add water after its mixed It will weaken the concrete, truck shows up stiff pour your best bet is to work it stiff, if you add water you weaken it. If it shows up wet and soupy reject it. Its not going to be strong. A heavy rain will pit it.

That's called "de-stressing". The last thing you want in any concrete project is stress. Un-de-stressed concrete can catastrophically fail at the wrong time and cause great harm, just like an earthquake.

13 years pouring concrete for a living got me really mad quick watching this video until i realized he was joking lol. People that have never done this work have no idea how much work it is to pour concrete and do it right.

WINNING it is putting things like post in the ground and you have to put concrete around them. Try doing what the guys behind him are doing. It takes alot of work getting to look right takes alot of back work. Do you know how many bags it would take to fill even that section he is working on? He is gonna pour that out of a truck not mix bags to fill it in. You do know they make concrete trucks right? You sir must be really stupid to think all concrete is mixed by hand using bags.

You went to college and got a degree and you think your better than everyone especially people that have to work hard like these guys do to make a living. I did this sort of work for years to pay the bills and i graduated high school with a 4.0. Now i have a better job making almost twice as much than this job would give me and i do not work near as hard. I bet you look down your nose at servers and walmart workers too dont you? But i bet you still go out to eat and you probably go to walmart.

This guy is a bit much...BUT I know plenty of ppl that for $20-$100 have gotten walkways and driveways done or mostly done with “leftover” material from jobs being done right next door just so they could go home with an empty truck bc it was all already paid for anyway

If you've got some plumbers' tape lying around on your truck, it works just as well, but use galvanized roofing nails for good luck.
