The blurry peripherals is not "Chromatic Abberation", it is foveated rendering. It is a limitation due to computational power. To power over 11 million pixels with a refresh rate at 90+ hz, it requires computational power beyond what the M2 can provide, so they blur peripheral vision to make the computational task easier. Since they can see where you are looking, they can make everything within your direct line of sight full resolution and crisp and blur everything in your peripheral.

  • @joselucnico

No it doesn’t. The blur is there for you to see near you, the image is not around you.

yes, foveated rendering is awesome. noticed it after watching videos on it. I do wonder if its actually *needed* but either way the extra efficiency that foveated rendering provides is always a +. You will never notice it as the user because of how good and fast the eye tracking is!

@@joselucnico what the fuck are you talking about? You can see near you just fine without blur. The dynamic foveated rendering its to free up computational resources. If you plug it into a Mac and set up a recording through Xcode, you can screen record without foveated rendering and out destroys the performance. How the fuck do you think the M2 can run over 11 million pixels at 90hz without foveated rendering, magic? Obviously, if they had an SoC with the computational power to run the displays with 100% resolution with no blur, they would, but that’s just not possible. Don’t comment stupid shit just to incorrect people.

@@LunaSoteira1 Trust me it’s absolutely needed, you can get it to run without it by connecting your Mac and screen recording through Xcode and the performance plummets. It will be a few years before Apple’s SoC can have graphic dyes that can run resolution at those refresh rates.

Stop comparing iPhone launch to this..... Apple didn't invent anything here, go back 2 years time and Quest Pro did exactly what Vision Pro trying to achieve, add to Quest Pro another 2000$ to get better displays + tracking + cameras and you end up with Vision Pro..... It's only the software that Apple actually ahead of the game in, the hardware not really and I have been in VR industry since a decade ago with Oculus DK1, owned 13 VR headsets, and attended 3 VR/XR events..... Don't think for a second Apple is actually ahead in hardware development, unlike iPhone where it was Apple who was ahead in hardware and software, they invented also some stuff with the iPhone

@@TRX25EX you’re welcome to your opinion but I can see a lot of parallels even if it isn’t an identical situation (it never will be btw). Close to the functionality, even had features and capabilities beyond the iPhone but didn’t have that experience.

Lenses from the same company as Meta 4. Uses (previous) gen M chip 5. 2 generations old cameras without focal auto focus like XR-4 have So basically it's using a hardware that was available over a year ago, Crystal uses same eye tracking, Quest Pro uses similar lenses tech, M2 will be 2 generations older in several months time, Sony already revealed last year a smaller 1.3 inch display panel exceeds Vision Pro display panel..... I'm excited for where this is going, ideally replacing an external monitor or two, and making traveling edits more feasible. But currently I can only edit with one window or workspace, which isn't enough for an efficient workflow. When multi-screen support comes, the price becomes more viable for the regular consumer ($2000), I'll be buying one. But for now, I'll be using the Studio Ultra and Studio Display, with an M1 14" laptop for travel.

As a prescription glasses-wearer, I don't have a full clear field of view just wearing glasses (and now that I looked, I can't not see the blurry edges!). It's great you tested DaVinci Resolve on AVP, but it would've been great to test Mac Virtual Display (computer still doing the heavy lifting) next to DaVinci Resolve (AVP using M2) to understand how they perform together. I think some of the cons you bring up (using Apple accessories, accidental clicks) are part of regular platform learnings/constraints -- the EU will likely create laws about the accessories, and the accidental clicks you'll learn quickly not to do that since the input method is specific to AVP.

I think this is why devices like VR goggles or MR device like this are still not merging into our daily needs and often ending up as a game device or just a decoration cuz it could not change the human habits. We've been using tools like cellphones and computers, keyboards to finish our tasks. It's quite hard to break those habits and change our way of work into something new. Plus if this kind of device cannot overcome the size and weight, then it's going to fade out. It's cool and futuristic for sure, and it would be interesting to see how it turns out in the future, but for now, it's an appealing device that probably people only used and tried when they first bought it.

Something that might be interesting for me, as a self-directing camera operator, is the possibility to have live vr screen inputs from my camera. I work a lot with a gimble, and my biggest problem is the fact that I can't run big secondary screens when I'm working. With the Vision Pro I could for example have one screen with the exposure, one with the focus and one for the rec709 conversion in VR. That way I can run a light weight set up and still get all the information from my camera that I might wanna have in front of me. That would be something that would make me interested in running the Vision on set.

The cushion is dictating your field of view. Try an experiment. Remove the cushion and hold it up your face as close as possible. If it’s as much of an improvement as I think, your cushion is too big, and the excess material it’s creating that effect. You can go try out smaller, thinner cushions, or ultimately there will be many solutions available. What is your cushion size? Please lmk how it works out.
