In this video I turn Natural Edge Vessel from a root of a Yew tree , It was quite a challenging turn with all the dirt etc that you find in root balls and there was a massive amount of hand sanding involved but Its a stunning piece to look at and full of character .. I finished it with danish oil ..

@@AndyPhillipWoodturning 100% agree. I'm not creative in the slightest and have an odd dislike of earthy tones, but the colours in that wood are unbelievable! Out of interest, how much, typically, would a piece like that sell for? PS This isn't a "muh price" type of question. I'm always amazed when I watch genuine craftsmen produce a piece of work and, more so, the amount of time that is put into it. I work in tech and don't even want to think about the amount of money the company I work for would charge for that amount of time D:

Andy i am a retired Nurse who did a very very small amount of woodturning in my early 40s and i loved it but it was what most people think when you say woodturning, stair spindles! I have been watching several of your videos and i am truly in awe. You give a whole new meaning to wood turning/carving and it is absolutely beautiful. I have fallen back in love with wood because of you but i am now 70 and know it wouldn't matter what equipment i had i could never dream of producing what you produce. You are a wood artist. Congratulations. You are incredibly talented and i wish i could afford one of your pieces as it would have pride of place in my living room. Keeeep turning!

I LOVE watching wood turning videos. Each finished piece is a gorgeous masterpiece. But I do usually find myself saying, "I wish they'd left just a little more of the wood in there, somehow the full character of that beautiful piece of wood didn't quite make it through.." For the first time, I did NOT say that. It is perfection. ❤

Generally, Mr. Phillip, your videos have given me something to aspire to in my own shop. This one just makes me realize that there are skill levels in turning that it is useless for me to aspire to. 99 ways for that to go wrong for every one that resulted in such success, and yet you make it look easy. Absolutely astonishing craftsmanship in this work, and the wood itself came through with stunning colors and texture. World class work.

The profound impression evoked by this remarkable Edge Vessel reminded me of Immanuel Velikovsky, book "Worlds in Collusion." However, it transcends the terrestrial realm and instead alludes to a cosmic ballet of celestial bodies, wherein stars and galaxies engage in a mesmerizing dance of collision. This exquisite composition appears to have successfully encapsulated the resplendent tumultuousness of the cosmos.
