This V12 Powered Toyota Century Is The Ultimate Luxury Sedan Of Japan

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode, I share with you my thoughts on this 1999 Toyota Century.
Completely hand-built from the ground up, the Century is an ultra-luxury, super sedan designed for the Japanese Domestic Market. However, with a strict sales policy it was exclusively sold to only the elite of Japan. Powered by the iconic 1GZFE 5.0L V12, it is Japan's largest displacement engine and the only Japanese V12 ever produced. The Century is a vehicle that showcases the utmost of 90's Japanese engineering and craftsmanship.

Two important/super cool things about the V12 engine. It’s basically two 1JZ’s bolted together. As such it has a cool limp mode feature that allows the engine to run each bank of six independent of each other if something fails in one.

The interior wood grain panels were produced by YAMAHA. All of them are real wood. The curved shapes of the center console and rear armrest are wonderful. From Japan

Highly doubt there's only approximately 1,050 century V12's that exist claiming only 50 of them were produced a year. Maybe you were referring to the first model's ever built?

This is not a 1999 model. Up to 2004, the Century featured a column shift gear selector (4-speed). 2005-on, it went to a centre console shift and 6-speed.

  • @RenNakamura2000

They offered a center console shifter in the earlier models too with the 4 speed automatic. You could get either or at the time when the v12 came out in 97

This is probably a 1999 car. It is definitely from before 2001 because of the aspect ratio of the front screen. These were overhauled around 2002. It's also a four speed transmission, the six speed variants had only sequential shifts and moved away from 3/2/L. It's also before 2005, because the brake lights are not LEDs.
