Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video we review this 2008 Toyota Century, a V12 RWD Luxury car that was designed to transport important VIPs such as the Royal Imperial Japanese Family, The Prime Minister & High Ranking CEOs... This is the G50 second generation Toyota Century and this model is the only one to receive the 5.0L V12. This engine was used for Smokeys Top Secret Supra build and it can be made into a monster!

    0 100 late 7 is pretty impressive for a 2 tonne limo I would have said 9 something .every door has a ashtray and lighter so you can literally drive yourself to the cemetery

    @@Born2Punch I think you missed the point. I was comparing the V12 5litre with more HP and torque than a 4litre Barra. It's barely 10% heavier too. Also, it's not marketed as a performance car, it's all about smoothness and comfort. Style and luxury. Nobody who buys it is seriously interested in its performance. As Rolls Royce used to say, performance is adequate.

    @@Born2Punch this is the smoothest car i've ever driven.. the V12 offers so much effortless power without stressing the engine.. that's the benefit of a V12 like this.. the Smoothness is so impressive

    Awesome car and a V12 🤤. I’m tempted to upgrade from the Crown Majesta haha! Definitely a sucker for these JDM VIP cars.

    A friend of mine, has one of these motors installed in a mid 90's Cressida with a turbo strapped to it! I agree, a JDM V12 is an awesome bit of kit!

    I own 2 crowns (Majesta S180 and Athlete S200) and still if I see one of these I feel like I should get one!! They look so elegant and I am glad you reviewed it. Next stop for you should be S210 Crown if you can get one that will be Gold.

    Did you know Australian polllies also travelled in a car with cigarette lighters in each door, velour seats and door trims, as well as a fully electronic dash. It was the DL LTD built between 1984 and 1988. My mum who worked in the public service was once taken home in one with Comcar, and were built here with pride. Something we have given up. Japan still understands the allure of old school luxury cosseting transport.

    @@RossReviewsau the ZL Fairlane was very similar except with normal cloth trim and no electric seats. The XF Fairmont Ghia had the short wheelbase body but with the same luxuries as the Fairlane but with the LTD velour.trim. They all had a very premium looking sound system head unit with graphic equaliser panel(!). All had the 4.1 efi push rod six, half the gears of the Century and half the cylinders ☺.

    @@RossReviewsau You are not alone, every single youtuber who reviewed the Century (and Doug wasn't the first one by any means) thinks it's a recorder, probably because of microphone input in the arm rest and the mic volume. It's connected to the car radio and I have no idea, why it has this function. It didn't think karaoke was so important part of the CEO life in his Century, but apparently it was :-D

    It's the sort of car that is rare, affordable and would make every drive feel like an event. I'm struggling to think of reasons not to own one as a second car, apart from potential issues with the airbags.
