    probably better not to limit to the same chords. and the lyrics should be sort of ambiguous so that each person might take it in a different direction. this sort of happened with a melody that Cevin Key wrote, used it for both Skinny Puppy and Tear Garden (The Center Bullet) the melody was actually about his mother who had just died, the title refers to have devastated he was to lose her. but he doesn't write lyrics, so for Skinny Puppy I think it was recorded as an instrumental, but for the Tear Garden Edward Ka-spel's interpretation was about a revenge shot to the head

    Here's a tuning I've been experimenting with recently: 1. Restring your guitar to be like a left handed, but play it right handed anyway. So the high e is closest to you, while the low E is furthest from you. 2. Retune the strings so that they are eadgbE like a normal guitar... but because all the strings are backwards, they descend in pitch instead of increasing in pitch. So high e and low E stay the same, while b -> a, d -> g, g -> d, and a -> b. 3. After not snapping your a string because you tunes it up 2 semitones, you now have this very familiar setup that is completely foreign at the same time. All your 5ths become 4ths, 3rds become 6ths, and so on. playing usual chord voicings can sometimes oddly sound like cluster chords, forcing you to come up with different shapes you otherwise would never use or think of.

    that was a banger of a tune, been watching rob for a long time and recently seen some of your modular synth collabs and now I've been binging all the stuff he has done with you and your channel, you both have immense talent and its awesome to see you both bounce ideas off each other and make magic

    This is easily my favorite thing Andrews ever written. And I normally don't like his vocals, but these were super different. Much lower, or harmonized. Really loved this.

    Just want to throw out that I only discovered Covet recently because of Rob mentioning them in a video, and loving what they do, it also got me into the whole wider math rock and midwest emo scenes. Andrew's song absolutely fits in with the vibe, and is absolutely beautiful. Hats off to Rob too for having absolutely no ego and stepping back.

    I used to write songs in this tuning in the 2000s, and a variation of it FACGCF and FACGBE. I was/am a huge SDRE fan and the sound of this tuning always reminded me of their prettier stuff.

    After seeing both videos I’m blown away at how talented and intuitive you guys both are, even on drums! Nice to see how supportive you each are of each others strengths. Cool how Andrew jumped in on the lyrics of his song while Rob was focused on other details knowing how he was racing the clock, then how Rob stepped back and even killed the timer for Andrew, maybe because he knew he would perform better without the pressure. Great partnership guys.

Structure and length were pretty ideal for a lot of people nowadays. Rock on. Props to your sound engineers, they've got it dialed in. Thank you for making awesome music, you and Rob! • @JoshMIW

    @JoshMIW

    @@Rodrifuuuhe’s expecting it to go down to resolve. Andrew is holding the 6th note in the key, which in a major key, is also the “home” note of the relative minor key, which may be why it sounds kind of resolved to you. But in the key of F major, which is what this song is written in, that note wants to resolve down to a C which is the 5th in the key of F, which is the most stable interval other than an octave. I hope this makes sense to you, I realize it is kind of wordy haha
