This Traxxas Knock Off is now CHEAPER, but... there's a catch!
Ойын-сауық
This is the NEW SG1002SE, a cheaper version of the very expensive one (SH1002). It's a Traxxas UDR 1/10 Knock off for sure... but they have removed some features to make it cheaper!

@@TomleyRC I think reducing the costs were at the top of their priorities. So, if the previous tires endured abuse... Most owners of this will probably haven't had any previous experience with these type of RCs and won't be too bothered... Until they actually try a nice one, and then either get tires and dampers, or ditch this completely. 😬

The boxes are always generic, that's why there is no upc. There are multiple trim levels the SELLER can order. The model number probably is not the same (which is what the box says). SG is usually the cheaper version. Hbx or ZD etc being the. high end

I am passionate about short courses and this one looks very nice. I believe that the reference model by size and characteristics is the Losi Baja Rey, I have one and I love it just like my UDR. The Baja Rey once you tune up the damping and change the tires (I'm wearing Louise Uphill) it runs great and is incredibly reliable. The most reliable of the cars I have. It's not cheap but it's worth every single one of the €529 it costs here. The 1002 S is €345 but even though it is an important difference, I would not change it for the reputed quality of Losi. Good video and greetings

For me in the states, a base Slash 4x4 is $70 less at 299. The Slash 4x4 VXL is only a bit more than this at 399. Plus there's hobby shops all over the place that stock almost every part you could need for a Slash. My local shop even stocks a bunch of RPM parts for Traxxas. The ease of getting replacement parts is the main reason why I still pay for the name brands.

While I have Traxxas and a ton of Chinese RCs. I've never had problems getting parts for Chinese RCs. But, this right here is ridiculously priced. The cheaper version he's talking about is more expensive than the really nice upgraded version on Banggood. It's just doesn't make sense to me.

But comparing this to a Slash is a bit off, closest thing to it in 1/10 scale is the Losi Baja Rey and that thing is amazing but also VERY expensive for 1/10

@@MustangsCanTurnToo Omg. I had a Savage Dictator as a kid and was in love with that little 4.8v beast. Lol. The Slash is but it has the typical short course double wishbone suspension which is why I kinda separate it off from this but it is a pretty nerdy distinction to make. Lol
Your videos have kept me sane the last 3 weeks so thanks for that, I snapped my collar bone crawling accident (long story) so have been house bound after surgery can't wait to go out soon and I'm looking into my 1st mid price range 1/10 off road basher with a good amount of speed what would you recommend ?
Great review as always Phil, I don't think I'll be swapping my Traxxas Slash anytime soon though. 😊
Fantastic truck, Phil! Awesome bashing and review!!! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It's all preference for the driver. Personally, I run a spool which is 100% locked. Guys like Harley Letner and Robbie Gordon use a clutch pack style limited slip differential. Some guys use wavetrac, some guys even use an air locker still which is what I used to have in my truck before I upgraded. BTW that pinion angle would NEVER work on a full size truck. You have to find a happy medium between full droop and full bump or "compression"
@nicks86gt1
Жыл бұрын
Yep, spool and an Evan Weller third member for me. Though next year we're going with a fortin or gear vendors under drive to drop ratios and get a little more tooth engagement from the pinion.
As for your diff question it is a setup thing. So it changes from team to team
Honestly by design this is one of the best car set ups I've ever seen it's more realistic to me and that allows me to have more fun but some may have their own opinions but it looks fun minus the tires lol
Trim level is specified by the seller for the most part when ordering from the factory. Look at remo, you can order the ultimate version which isnt even listed on the SCT box (it is a model above the TOP)
On the advert page it says it has a gyro, Shirley that means it shouldn’t slide around so much, or it can be adjusted?
Good for you giving a real honest review. If a none RC car expert parent is buying an RC car for their child as a present they don’t want to have the bad experience of a an impossible to control car which doesn’t live up to the speeds which the box claims.
Interesting rig, I didn’t notice with the first video but I have a UDI racing desert racer which is a ssv version of this, same layout, same hard tyres same difficulty controlling it until I realised it has stability control, which I turned off, handles way better now.

Could you fit 2 shocks back on to make it look like the gray one help please
Yeah, I think for companies putting out competing cars with the big guys they are going to have to provide something at par or better for the money just to break into the market. They are also competeing against the name brands with people like me who often go the 2nd hand route (at least when the prices are a bit more sane).
Can you bind it to another transmitter and keep the stability control system?
Great review! Thank you.
Any idea on how to bind the transmitter to the truck?
you guys have any knowledge on why my rcmart order comes so slow I ordered it 1 week ago
I just got a vrx blast2.0 roller, only down I can say about it is plastic drive shaft u-joint broke. Was 109 canadian pesos for a roller chassis.
I had high hopes, but think the senton would be a better choice like you said. Another great standard setter video! ...hmmm... the Tomley SS‼️🤘👍👍🦾🦾
I think it's great that I I actually guessed the speed correct it was 35 miles an hour, I would say this truck is possibly good for beginner but then again probably not. Love the video Tomlin keep it up
Phil would U muck around with this and/or the original maybe for another video? Overhaul and tune it with stuff U have laying around already? Tires obviously but possibly a gyro, etc... Maybe go all out and one is a parts car. Gives RCers ideas of what can be done with a little tinkering. Thanks for the great videos as always.
Certainly 1 to leave alone... thanks for your review
I feel like the low traction tires are intentional. Saves on the slipper and other driveline components on high traction surfaces.
That needs some work like most. Trailing arm trucks are a different animal. Need power up your sleave in the corners. There is a thing called to much traction with them also. But be weary of the massive weight transfer they have. I love them. Have udr, twin hammers, yeti, bomber and baja rey.
Hello! Thank you for the review of this "cheap" version! Can you tell me if it's XT60 for batteries on both please? Thank you ✌️
Hi, i know this isn’t anything to do with the video but i was wondering if you could do a review of the updated mn models mn99s 🤞
when are you going to race the mini cxd cars?
Reminded me of “Samir… you’re breaking the car”…! 😂
Most Trophy Trucks are RWD with a locked diff. Although 4WD has become more common over the past few years with new tech
Looks like the FTX Zorro (brushed), or Axial Yeti underneath, with that chassis design. The Zorro has a locked rear axle, and handles much better than that. Looks great though. 😎👍🏻
I was thinking about getting this glad I waited. Great review

Trophy trucks run 40s up front and 38s on the back. The front axle is wider for control ability on the dunes.
I have a bullet proof slash that I have modded from bumper to bumper, Only thing left on it stock are the servo and the chassis lol. I have decided that from now on I am just buying the chassis and adding all the parts cause I just upgrade them anyway. Wait til you see my Comical Grasshopper. Have you made one?
Open diffs on trophy trucks or locked depending what they’re used on .and usually 2wd .
is the zd mx07 still good mate?
Hi phil the red udi version is the same price as the one you have there
Great Vid dude XD I am still undecided on this truck I REALLY liked the transmission so I am disappointed they removed it (SIGH) I thing they put the hard tires on to keep it from traction rolling on pavement and I would rather the car slide than flip but it appears they went to far it takes a delicate balance the UDR's tire feel like they are close to Ideal a little too grippy out the box but are better after they are worn in I save a bald set for pavement and grass runs. I still run my Yeti Score with a 2 speed but I am running out of spares and would like a 10th scale trophy truck but I DON'T want a Baja Rey because it doesn't have a 2 speed and it killed the Yeti and they were different enough that Horizon shouldn't have cancelled it after the Acquisition
I think its good starting point at least for me who doesn't want to spend alot of money for this hobby, i would later upgrade the suspension and it'll run way better. I always love throphy truck style rc but they're so expensive, I'll take this as consideration. Thanks for for this video

Arrma Senton 3S, chuck a Pro Line VW body on it, absolute blast of a truck. I've never regretted that buy.

Senton is somewhat of a safe bet (unless you go with the brushed, which sucks) but the senton is not a realistic/scale looking tuck. I love mine but it’s a basher first. Depends what you prefer
The rear axels on trophy trucks or stadium trucks or whatever you call them, they're always locked. So technically this one is more realistic.

@@TomleyRC yea, they didn't look like they were all that good lol
i would like to point this out because of rear stock is so bad can cause front end lost tracking which why leads you sliding all over the place if you can beast up rear stocks them will make big different because i own few off road rc 1/8 and 1/10 and i have noticed mine was doing it because rear end hit ground cause front come off the ground not touch it and just slide all over the place and after beasting up rear stock it make big different keep front end down
So the real question is this better than vrx RH1045sc V2.0
I find this rc car price very economic and perhaps I will buy one in the future. Thanks for your sharing Tomley❤, but please don't drive your car too fast😂😂😂. This car has a center diff and front diff! Look decent.
