Definitely higher expectations for him than what he is. Big suns fan and Mikal became my favorite player due to his effort and durability, butttt he’s definitely an elite role player/fringe all star and the nets acting like he’s Luka. He’ll be great as a second probably even third option on a championship team, like the 2021 suns makeup

@@AliasThomas5kthis is true. mikal bridges needs to be utilized more like how the warriors utilized klay thompson in their dynasty years; primary wing defender that can cut and spot up shoot at a high level. prime klay did very little shot creation because he wasnt great at it, only ok at it.

The Nets are not a serious franchise and do not sport logically.

Sean Marks really just dug the Nets out of the pits of NBA hell, created a situation that was appealing to KD and Kyrie, and even made moves that positioned the team for a less painful rebuild, then accidentally simmed the whole season before the job was done. I think he knows he's gonna get fired, and is refusing to make moves purely out of spite

😂 Thats a funny theory for sure but thats not what GM’s do if they know they’re being fired. (based on previous GM firings) if you knew you were being fired you wouldnt try a desperate attempt at keeping your job? or at the very least screw over the team before you leave to give them one big “F-U” on your way out. This Season has been abysmal i was hoping that the team could of moved off DFS and Mikal at the deadline but considering how inept sean marks is as a gm i knew it was too good to be true that we would get our picks back from houston and jalen green.This man wants to build around a 3rd option like mikal bridges and that will not be a recipe for success in the later years

It was clear during the year that the Nets could have gotten all their picks back but they think they can still build a quality team and they can’t. Their picks are so valuable, the rockets will get so much better with their picks than with Bridges

Nets chasing stars is their Achilles heel. Recent history of the ABYSMAL trade for the retirement home Celtics big 3 giving up your whole future. They got their way out of it and somehow built a decent team during Dlo’s time and added their stars, but then again got greedy and added James “the system” Harden giving up key depth and their future again just for it to implode😭 clearly they know how to get role players and build a decent team they just gotta lay off the star chase

Getting their picks alone back from Houston is worth trading Mikal so they can properly reset the rebuild, tank and draft within top 10. Jalen Green would've been the throw-in. Nets just dumb not pulling the trigger at the deadline and gives you the idea that the front office are still "star-chasing." All those stars they had like KG, Pierce, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Durant, Kyrie, Harden and Simmons and no championship to show for. Embrace the tank and build organically from the draft.

This valuation of Bridges is basically the equivalent of Kevin Durant. One of these things is not like the other. I think Bridges has a great contract, but lack of direction and other Nets contracts is the bigger issue.

I honestly miss when the nets had DLO as the all star with great role players and energy.

bridges efficiency went down big this year. the memphis or houston offer wouldve both been steals.

The Nets have gone absolutely insane in terms of Mikal Bridges. They first try to make a player out of him that he is not, he is not an iso scorer or the 1st or even 2nd option on a team, which literally reduces his value as he can not shine in the role they force him into. They then turn around and overestimate his value beyond what even the best case scenario is, despite diminishing that value beforehand themselves.

I say the Rockets got lucky Brooklyn turned that down. Mikal is an awesome two way player but thats alot of capital when you can build a team around Green

they have to learn how to play together.. Sengun plays better at his pace, and green plays better at a faster pace. They gotta find a good middle, or someone is gonna have to pick a skill.. which I’d say green is the easier one to pick up a new way of play, either being more methodical or becoming a better playmaker, so that green can play more effectively

What do you think about a Mikal Bridges for Alperen Sengun trade? It seems like, though a great player, Sengun isn't necessary for the teams success. The nets would get a player to build around and create for all their wings, and the Rockets would get a versatile wing scorer/defender that would fit perfectly on their team.

I’m ngl that made no sense whatsoever. It went from sengun is the best player on the rockets to hearing he isn’t necessary to the teams success… that’s just not true.

I said this alot of times and I am going to say it again. BLOW THE WHOLE TEAM UP AND REBUILD... but also keep Cam Thomas Trade for picks and younger players ( and a couple vets) and just start from scratch. Build a culture that creates stars or the very least have stars want to come over to the team

Bridges is overrated on both ends of the floor. Don't really see him as a true game changer on defense but he's definitely solid all around.. Just not a star

00:30 I find this to be very offensive considering my favorite team is currently on a 3 game win streak… there are levels to this and if Nets played the Wizards tomorrow, Wiz would be anywhere from 3-5 point favorites… considering their play since the all star break.

Hard to conclude without undertaking what multiple first round picks are. Like is it s couple. Did they protect them etc. I personally dont think Houston would've offered more than two of the picks sinde the Nets are such a sinking ship right now theyre gonns be quite valuable. Green isnt too bad and think they will be happy to see how he ends up before extensions

There is no way Ime Udoka would give up on potential talent after half a season. Ime came to Houston to coach Jalen Green.

This makes the most logical sense, I had given up on Jalen Green after the terrible season he was having, but I didn't realize just how terrible the situation he was put under with Silas and with emergence of Cam Whitmore I was ready to move on. I will eat some crow but looks like he has figured it out

I just dont see the rockets moving green till at least the next years deadline if he doesn't play well next year

granted, now that Green is playing great does make this look terrible (who knows if he has figured it out, if he took the opportunity he was given and ran with it, or if this is the blip that anyone will point to as how good he could be, when he sucks for the rest of his career), but Green playing well makes this trade rejection look worse, not bad just worse....cause even if this draft will suck, and even if Green sucks, getting your picks back (assuming for more than this year when the draft class may not suck), a bad team needs draft picks, to find great players, to trade assets, or even to keep your fans hopeful you have my sympathies....but at least your team doesn't have a player with a gambling problem (that problem is potentially being caught gambling)

Jalen and Cam are the same age, and Cam has the better numbers on the year; they are both still young and can grow their games. So, at this point, I'm not dead set on the idea that the Nets need to make a SG change from Cam to Jalen. To me, it would've been adding another player that they already have in Cam; and their picks back, to which we don't have any idea on which picks they were. It doesn't seem like the front office plans for our picks to be any good when it matters (i.e. 2025). Nets fans are frustrated right now, because most of us (not including me) can't handle a throwaway season and wait until we make more moves in the offseason and then get off of Ben Simmon's contract; it may end up being 2 years before the first retool is complete. I'm not saying that the front office has it put together, but I'm also willing to be patient instead of dumping everything now. I don't anticipate that we will be a contender anytime soon, but we may still be able to get to a playoff seed and win 45+ games each season. Sometimes, we have to appreciate a quality team instead of vying for ring culture. That doesn't go to say that I don't want them to win a ring (or more), but the front office clearly wants to make a regular season team that wins vs. being a contender by making win-now moves (or going full rebuild). Does this stink? Of course it does, but this is also something that is needed to build up a culture so that we can make moves to become a contender, or we can rebuild with a better foundation compared to what we have now. We will likely have to go through 2-3 classes of Nets teams before we can actually look at ourselves as contenders again. Right now, we're in Class 1. Let's be patient and see what Classes 2 and 3 become and appreciate the progress we make as the future plays out.

All respect to Mikal as he’s a great 3&D player for a playoff team. Mikal in his current form with the Nets is what Andre Iguodala was to the Sixers over fifteen years ago. Teams cannot place complimentary players in main roles and expect them to lead the team to wins. Who will come to the Nets featuring Mikal Bridges as the main piece? Nobody!!! The Nets need to get a better direction to their future. Find a more qualified GM who will do right by the franchise and get some assets to build their future.
